I was standing on the stage on the right of them. This moment changed my life forever. When they started the sun was getting ready to fade and by this song we were all transformed. Thousands of people just looking at each other and feeling like we were all in it together. One of the best moments I've experienced. Thank you
TheVenusBushfires How did you manage to survive without your heart exploding with emotion? Hell, I can barely watch it on video and make it through. By the end I want to have Sarah Neufeld’s babies.
I probably watched this video a hundred times. I still get goosebumps. This song is unreal, an anthem and food for your soul. Time to get The Suburbs now!
Don't know what it is, about this song, that makes me love it so much. The French Horn, the Trumpet....the frakkin' accordian. The blonde on viola..The chant at the beginning. So many elements to the song. The blonde on viola.. What a "I"m gonna go out a get the CD" song.
I cryed when I saw all the flags and to see unity and love and anger and sadness and joy really is something very few bands can do. Best song ever. AF gives me hope
all of you why do you cry? REJOICE you are alive and its the small moments that make you feel something so strongly that remind you that its such a wonderful life pain, love, anger, sorrow, birth, and death they are all things we will know and its almost a crime to not reveille in these sensations embrace your life and live it loud and with pride cuz when this moment is gone all we have left are the last ringing echos of memory make them count
I came of age listening to The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show (2/9/64) when I was 12 years old. And my opinion, for what it's worth, is that Arcade Fire is one of those rare "once in a lifetime" bands who have that elusive and magical spark others never find. So, ENJOY! Despite (or maybe because of) my age, it's easy to recognize true talent!
There are times when the stars align and history is made. Johnny Depp meeting Tim Burton, Frida and Diego, Johnny Cash and June Carter for example. And these guys... love the horns at the beginning!
There are many elements of Win Butler's voice that are reminicent of fellow Canadian Neil Young, and at times he has a David Byrne sound too..............its wonderful
Somethin' filled up my heart with nothin', someone told me not to cry. But now that I'm older, my heart's colder, and I can see that it's a lie. Children wake up, hold your mistake up, before they turn the summer into dust. If the children don't grow up, our bodies get bigger but our hearts get torn up. We're just a million little gods causin' rain storms turnin' every good thing to rust. I guess we'll just have to adjust.
The arcade fire is like a good cup of coffee. Or just like beer fot that matter. Once you start to appreciate their unique taste, you cannot live without them anymore. This is pure and epic. People criticizing this are just ignorant and shouldn't be browsing to songs of the arcade fire anyway.
When people say ''music today sucks'' there mainly talking about the mainstream currently that's dominated by rap, techno and pop music. The music industry is in the middle at the moment good alternative and indie bands are more likely to be exposed because of the internet which is wonderful. But in saying that the major labels are still pumping out garbage and generic music so its a matter of which way you look at it.
When that girl on the keyboards is like singing out to the crowd without even bothering with the microphone, I've never seen anyone mean the words to a song so damn much before. She is fucking believing. I just started loving this band.
@TomArayafied I love the part where Richard Reed Parry loses the drumstick and starts cracking up just at the moment Win is singing " ...children don't grow up". That and the ladies in the audience after the song changes tempo. Just the look of sheer and utter joy on their faces.
This song just makes me burst with emotions, and I feel the my eyes wet at the edges. Some may laugh at that some may agree. 10 out of 10 exceptional song
@TeamZissouMember AMEN , welcome to the club. I only discovered them earlier this year and have been blown away ever since. Might I suggest you also check out "Intervention" from the same Glastonbury 2007 show. Give it time, the song just builds and builds.
If you like this and want to explore another awesome Canadian band check out Broken Social scene, this is where Feist and the singer from Metric came from.
With my lightnin' bolts a glowin' I can see where I am goin' to be when the reaper he reaches and touches my hand. With my lightnin' bolts a glowin' I can see where I am goin' With my lightnin' bolts a glowin' I can see where I am, go-go, where I am You'd better look out below

I'm almost 40 and it's the first time I love a band that much.
