  • This is a Demonstration Video of the PetroSkills Simulation Solutions Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Liquefaction Plant Simulator. With this Simulator, an operator will operate the plant as a Console and Outside Operator to improve their understanding of the system, learn how the plant is designed to run under normal conditions, learn how to safety start up and shut down this unit, and learn how to recognize and solve problems. Plant optimization exercises are also possible.
The purpose of the LNG Liquefaction plant is to produce liquefied natural gas (LNG) product from a pre-treated natural gas feed stream. Refrigeration for this process is provided by a propane refrigeration system and a mixed refrigerant (MR) refrigeration system. The four-level propane refrigeration system provides chilling of the natural gas stream and the MR system. The pre-cooled natural gas is sent into the Main Cryogenic Heat Exchanger (MCHE) and is liquefied and subcooled using the MR system. The natural gas feed leaves the system as LNG and fuel gas.
The main control parameters for the LNG Liquefaction plant are the LNG production rate, propane flow rate, MR flow rate, and the MCHE temperatures. There are multiple DCS controllers for these parameters that can be seen in the video.
The major equipment for this LNG Liquefaction plant includes the Main Cryogenic Heat Exchanger, Natural Gas and MR Chillers, Propane and MR Suction Drums, Propane and MR Compressors, a Propane De-Superheater, a Propane Condenser, a Propane Subcooler, a MR Phase Separator, LNG and MR Liquid Turbines, the LNG Product Pumps, and the Fuel Gas Knockout Drum.
