Only true band heads complain about BCU being boring. The crowd/nonband heads eat their style up. They all feel they're very entertaining (even with their boring book of songs). However, I must say, I looooooove their sound.
BCU the only band I know that can take a hood song and turn it into a freaking symphony piece lol... Love BCU for what they do great band always one of my favorites.
How I grade both bands Dega _____ Power = 95 solid Song selection = 90 Song Arrangement = 76 Sound Quality = 83 I still kind feel that high schoolish sound in them but they definitely crank BCU ____ Power = 90 Song selection = 80 Song Arrangement = 77 Sound Quality = 99 They always sound great to me, but I can't deal with their energetic but boring style. Its like they compensate their lack of a book by extending all their songs with longer sing and dance routines. Opinions are like assholes and my opinion is not meant to bash someone who has a different one. I honestly just think they sound too damn good as far as quality to be so limited in the Songbook department.

If only BCU would invest in some marching baritones. That and some none corp style songs/arrangements. I do admire them and I enjoy their sound. Their power, articulation, and technique can do some real damage if they gave it a chance. However, they limit themselves too much.
Whether in the stands or on the field they look and sound good doing it. Tallafaka still needs to learn how to put together a halftime show. It takes more power to battle the heavyweights.
Carron Andrews When I spoke to a coordinator for the event he said the last band would be a big name from Mississippi or Louisiana. My guess is JSU took the invite first or SU declined. Knowing that SU does battles like Honda every 5 years, SU declining seems probable.
BCCHSMD Listen, su can't afford to come to events like this every year. Stop saying they decline events because they don't. Money is becoming a issue for a lot of hbcu bands.

BC sound like muffle as if they were playing for recording they don't sound like a real marching band I guess that's good for them but when it comes to marching bands there are some imperfections and that's what makes up the style like J-state GSU, Tennessee-state and SU.

Watching BCU is almost like watching a corp style bands play rap tunes, and let me tell you, them bands shill be doing a lot dancing when they do too.
YPP nigga no style and perfection aren’t even close to the same for one. You aren’t gonna hear fuckin Louis Armstrong fuckin up a solo because being imperfect makes it jazzy lol. Second, Jackson and southern don’t play jazzy. JSU has a bit of a groovy funky feel to some of their songs but the majority of both of their strategies is straight watts. Has nothing to do w imperfection they don’t want to be missing notes n shit either everyone is aiming to have as flawless a performance as possible.
YPP next if you want to know the reason bands like Cookman and famu sound so different on camera compared to JSU and Su its a combination of arrangements, instrumentation and playing style once again. Jackson and southern both go for the aggressive blow your brains out style coupled with both of them almost being completely brass bands (Su more than Jackson) they have a loud piercing sound as opposed to Cookman or Famu’s strong wall of sound approach that comes from the arrangements and sending watts with good tone/cut offs n shit like that. So when you’re watching a video one sounds louder because it’s like their sound is punching the video in the face vs the others sounding a bit flat because they’re literally just sending a big ass wall of sound towards the camera but all 4 of them niggas got sound for days
