I think it's fine that Blizzard reduced the time it took to level from 1 to 60 in patch 2.3.0. with the XP changes. If you keep adding new levels in new expansions, but don't change how fast you can level through the older content, starting a fresh character and getting to max level will take longer and longer time.

About the change to non-elites of creatures at dungeon entrances, I think it was because there were a lot of quests that required the player to kill some of these creatures in most low to mid level dungeons and they did the change to make these quests easier to complete - as not as many people were around these levels anymore to group up with.

The idea you propose of nerfing the elite monsters just a little bit - and keeping them elite I guess - is pretty interesting. I was leveling up my orc shaman around then, and the changes they put into the old outdoor elite areas were needed. Almost everybody on my server skipped those outdoor elite quests in vanilla/classic because they weren't really worth the time. That just got way worse with TBC where not many people were left in the vanilla zones. Also, the new Dustwallow Marsh quests made it so people had a reason to actually do that zone as Horde. Otherwise you've got maybe 20 quests, if even that many, before you run into a brick wall of elite dragonkin quests.

I know it's only 2 levels, but being able to wear TBC Green BOEs at level 58 made level 58-60 trivial if you did them in Azeroth since TBC Greens were like BWL level gear.
What I used to do is the second I hit 58, I'd put on my BOEs my main had sent me, and go grind mobs in HFP south of Thrallmar. The reason being is that the XP for killing level 58 mobs in HFP was about twice as much as level 58 mobs in Azeroth, and since the TBC BOEs were so much better than anything I could get on Azeroth, I didn't really care (although I guess that Trinket in Winterspring would be the exception there, I had no idea it existed until now). I would never do quests until 60 though because the XP required for 58-60 was so trivial, just grinding mobs was enough, I wanted to save the quest XP for when I needed to start 60 - 70.

Ok, i wanna add some context to some of the changes:
Some of the changes were done purely because of pressure from the players. Mainly the xp and the mount level changes:
The game was getting lots of new players during TBC and Wrath still... and many would complain because of how much time took to level to 60, even people that had already played tru classic and already had max level characters complained in the forums, because leveling new alts was gonna take quite a while. Remember TBC introduced Belfs and Draeneis. Many people in high level guilds made new characters because now they could have new classes along those new races in their raids. I am talking about horde players leveling blood elf paladins, and alliance players leveling draenei shamans to add their benefits to the raids. People that was just joining the game and wanted to catch up with their already max level friends would complain constantly too. Blizzard reduced the xp needed, and improved the xp gains in those ranges because of player demand.
Even tru vanilla i heard complains from people that had to wait till level 40 for their mounts, with nothing in the way of speed boosts like druid travel form, hunter aspect of the cheeta, shaman wolf form... even rogues had sprint... My first character was a warlock, and lots of quest before level 40 had me runing ALL OVER the world... And with new players now also demanding a way to move across the world a bit faster, Blizzard caved a little and reduced the level needed for normal mounts to level 30. Noone saw that as a problem realy. You still had tons of quests and specialy class quests that had you runing afoot all over the world before level 30...
Now the changes on creatures dificulty was somehow controversial. Noone complained about the changes in the micro-dungeons realy... most people were happy that the way to Deadmines was no longer as hard, or the quests tru Hinterlands were now posibly to do solo.... What people had problems with, was with the changes to the mobs in high level zones. I remember the complains because Burning Stepes, Searing Gorge and even zones like Ungoro lost a lot of their "mojo" when they mobs were changed to non-elites.
The other changes like the revamp of the loot in general, was seen as a meh change... because noone cared anymore for good loot for a level 30 or 40... Besides Blizzard had already revamped a lot of items in the latest patches of vanilla. Most people did not care if an item from wailling caverns was made blue and with better stats because they would replace it in a few levels anyway. If anything they were happy that item they were gonna wear for 5 to 10 levels was better, or maybe could hold a bit longer before needing to realy replace that item. I remember my friend telling me of the revamp of the set from Wailling Caverns... and complaining... but he was complaining because he would have liked that change in vanilla!

    • @moegdalswowvideos6800

Thanks a lot for your comment - you have some interesting perspectives. I think the XP changes were fair and made a lot of sense. The mount change doesn't bother me that much, but I still don't like it. In Vanilla, there's just something special about the level 40 when you can get your mount and the 30 point talents. Your point about high-level zones losing some of their mojo because of the elite creature changes is interesting and I didn't really think about that.

@@moegdalswowvideos6800 You are right about that. Abolishing the need to group up in those scenarios (trash before dungeons, elite zones) is the wrong way. People would still group up for those challenges if the reward is worth the effort. They kind of had it right by fixing stats and handing out more items. Cheers from Germany, brother.

I don't mind that in tbc they nerfed the elite creature to non elites like in deadmines there's like 2 or 3 quests that are not in the instance but in the mine and trying to find a group or even couple of people were time consuming so those you can solo and not have to worry about finding people..

@@6stringbravo616 Yeah, the Defias Pillager nerf doesn't really matter bother me either. The only changes in the video I straight out dislike are the micro dungeon nerfs, but that's a very, very small part of TBC - and they happened 10 months after the release of the expansion to be fair. TBC was a great expansion in a lot of people's eyes I am sure (I like it as well although I don't have raiding / PvP experience from back then), and I hope we get to play it again in the future on Classic servers.
