  • This is part 2 of a 3 part series on How to Quit Your Job and Travel the World.
In this one, we talk all about how to turn your big dream of seeing the whole world to an actual plan. We challenge you to actually think about and list out where to travel to (especially since travel has changed so much in the last couple of years). Keep in mind, this isn't so you have a perfect itinerary to strictly abide by, but really is a practice to eventually get to the most important part of this dream--the number. Once you have a rough budget, you have a goal to strive towards. Reaching that goal is what we tackle in part 3.

Hardest decision: deciding between two pastries. Happy Life / Happy Wife - it's hard to get in the habit of spending more. Every time the money comes out, it's physical pain, especially if it's not worth the extra cost. But I've learned to increase my cost for more comfort. Sometimes taking that taxi/uber vs bus->bus->bus is worth the extra cost to me. Or paying that agent to take care of all the visa stuff - $30 vs 3 hrs of my life and the stress of filling in everything perfectly is worth it to me. Great content for beginning world travelers. I think that fear stops most people from traveling more - culture shock. It's difficult especially for Americans. Only 1/3 of Americans have a Passport. I encourage everyone I meet to travel more abroad.

so so true--it's all about figuring out what is worth it to you and then balancing out what we both find of value and finding a compromise! and we agree! it can be hard to just take the leap, it's so worth it :)

I’ve been working on a massive spreadsheet for my europe trip. Spreadsheets are fun AND the research is amazing. So so much fun. I spent 5 hours looking at restaurants in florence yesterday

I can’t hook into your offer as I can’t recall my password. Once I sort it I will throw in my two bobs worth. Until then u two work so well together, keep it up.

Wow! You guys are awesome. Thank you for sharing your experiences. My question is: How did you make the decision to say , ok I’m quitting my job to travel the world. I wouldn’t mind doing this but honestly, it’s a little scary to think about the future. What will happen when we get back? Do we start over? Obviously, you can tell my dilemma lol. I’ve mentioned this to my husband but I’m not sure he buys into it because he feels job security is important. Which it is but having this amazing experience would be awesome 🤩 would definitely like to hear more & I enjoy your videos!

ohh these questions feel so so real to us, especially for me (Lisa), since this is my first time leaving a job for traveling. it definitely required a lot more thought and planning for me, but ultimately it came down to what we wanted to spend our time doing/working toward. love this question and adding it to our list of questions to talk about next!

Have a 3 month Europe trip this spring. I am nearly 40 and I have managed to get my accommodation budget down to USD$3000. I have had to make some sacrifices in that area -had to accept that I will have to book rooms with shared bathrooms. I am pretty nervous - flights already booked and I am traveling solo. I will be spending 7 days in each city and I am a stickler for planning 🤪 but I have decided to only plan for 4 days out of each week in terms of daily activities and the leave the remaining 3 open for whatever 🙂. I haven't decided if I will buy travel insurance yet not of my destination require yet thankfully but I have looked at quotes and it's a little on the expensive side. So I don't know yet about that.

Hi Ray! Thanks for watching :) we stayed in a mix of hostels and private rooms at the albergues. and most of the private rooms had shared bathrooms. We stayed at Pensión Sotelo in Logroño and enjoyed two nights there. In Pamplona, we ended up staying a little bit outside of the town because of booked up accommodations, but wished we had stayed closer to town. Thank you and would love to travel through Canada soon!
