Anna Chicherova beats Blanka Vlasic in the Women's High Jump Final

The defending champion Blanka Vlasic of Croatia is beaten by Russia's Anna Chicerova as they both fail to clear 2.05m.
Anna was NEVER going to lose in London, regardless if Vlasic was there or not. She would've cleared 2.07 if she needed to. She was in the form of her life, even better than Daegu.
It's the same situation with Slesarenko in 2004. Bergqvist was out injured, but Elena was so good, go check her clearance at 2.06m. It was HUGE!
Fast forward 10 years and Chicherova comes out of her short retirement and opens the 2022 season with a 1.90 jump at age 39.5.
A very loving kiss to the winner by Vlasic. Very good job Anna getting over 2.03m.

credit to what a leaper di Martino was, at just 170cm in height! i don't know of any other jumpers of that height to clear 2.00m.

No knock on Chicherova but it's still a pity to me that Vlasic didn't win an Olympic title.....she was dominant for so long, it was only fitting.
