That is an outstanding work. Congratulations! I just called my local "best 2019 Porsche" Dealer in Poland with the question how would they solve the problem of bore scoring. They answered simply by changing the engine... I asked if the new engine will not have the same issue and they never answered and could not guarantee whether it will not have the same problem. They hated the word "engine fault". I believe the owners with this problem should consider the group lawsuit. If I was told I should treat this engine as Saturn V rocket and run 50 point pre-flight checklist before revving it I would not have this issue. I still think I cared for the engine like a baby I waited until the oil heated up by running the car, changed the oil, checked the engine oil level, waited until cooled down before turning off, yet the bores are scored.
I think there's been several class action lawsuits. It would be nice if they provided an easier replacement or repair option. And by easier I mean cheaper. I'm sure most owners would be more ok with the problem if there's an option that's half cost parts wise. That would both raise the resale and offer less reasons to hide the damage and pass it on to the next guy.
If you do decide to buy a Porsche, do your research and get warranty ! Try and buy one with documented history IMS done and engine bore inspected. Garage Queen 997 tend to suffer more due to bores drying. These cars like to be driven and used . Absolute money pit !
Been watching your series as my 996 IMS went "kaboom" two weeks ago on St Patrick's Day; you've been a great resource into what lies ahead if I choose to DIY (undecided). Anxious (literally) to see your next video and continue to follow along.
Mating the engine and transmission can sometimes be harder outside of the car. Your sigh after hours trying to get it together is so relatable. I'm betting it fires right up
I assume you reduced torque settings on the exhaust header bolts to account for using the anti-seize? Your work is amazing - I don't think I could ever get to your skill level.
That is a piece of knowledge I missed. I read the explanation for reducing torque, I guess it makes sense. Let's hope the smaller torque values used for the exhaust manifolds don't cause any issues. 🤷♂️
Terrific series of videos! But...I'm seeing trees fully leafed out and green. When did you make these videos, last summer? I'm figuring the engine is in and has been running well for months by now. Why not just spill the beans? C'mon man...
Aw, give him a break. Agree that it's great content, takes a while too Soo the actual work, then more time to edit the video. And somewhere in between live a normal life!
Love the video ... now chuck that cartridge oil filter and get yourself a spin on type adapter and a cordless ratchet you earned it ... all that ratchet turning since the beginning of the build is giving me carpal tunnel !!! Great work can't wait to hear it start ..
It was so depressing to see your bolt go sideways into the gearbox and not being able to stop you from applying devastating torque into it! I would have spent another night fitting an helicoil but I support your way too. It's not going anywhere for sure!
😖😖😖. I have a little anxiety creeping in an it’s not my car, I am not even in the same state. I hope we don’t have to wait too long to find out what happens next.
Nice work on the cliffhanger ending! 👺🤠I'm excited to hear it start (as I'm sure you were in the moment of truth)!

Here we go....it has been interesting watching you take this on. 👊🤞
I so much admire your patience and tenacity. I’ve never even owned a Porsche but am rooting for you here from England

That fabspeef exhaust is awesome, the fabspeed maxflo system on my 997 is over 11 years old, still looking brand new ! 👊👊👊
I’m sure it will run smooth as silk!
Great work ! You are the 997 Messiah ! Love the Fabspeed exhaust and can't wait to hear the sound . Happy Easter Man .

Nicely done!!!
Excellent work, can’t wait for start up and to see the smile across your face 😁
Oh my, more tension!!!
WTH start it up, too much suspense:)
What a great video series, got my fingers crossed for you. Good luck, can't wait for the next vid.
Would have been easier to sling the trans from the cherry picker - love the series - it’s gonna purr like a kitten 🐱
That music's quite annoying lol, good job looking forwards to the start up.
Its gonna be fine
Coming together nicely. Should be a real nail biter when you first start it up!

I can't wait to hear it!
You can do it Dad!!

I've not hidden that I'm quite behind on video editing. It won't be a long wait now. Promise!

I feel your anxiety. So many moving parts. How could it possibly work?!
I ask myself that same question. 🙂
Just curious
How did your RMS hold up any leaks? I’m about to install mine the same way.
So far she's holding together. I had my doubts too, but the garage floor is dry.

Yea. That definitely happened. 🤷♂️

Won't be a long wait. I'll have it out this week
@@997Dad Awesome!! Looking forward to it!!!
