- Seitan was trending on tiktok recently and most people were making it using the "washed-flour" method which literally means....washing flour. But I'm going to show you a MUCH easier way to make it using vital wheat gluten. So simple and turns out amazing every time! #shorts #seitan #vegan

Why didn't you add the seasonings to the gluten before adding the liquid?

This is a good question! Would the seasoning be better incorporated into the flavor if adding it before the water?
You need to wash the dough so you add the seasoning after washing the dough

1 cup of vital wheat gluten
1/4 cup of flour (all purpose, wheat, or even chickpea flour)
1 cup of lukewarm water
1 teaspoon of chicken/ poultry seasoning
1/2 teaspoon of paprika (or smoked paprika)
1 teaspoon of olive oil
4-6 cups of vegetable broth

I love the simplicity of your recipe for which many thanks. One suggestion, I think it would be easier and better to either mix your seasoning into the dry flour or mix them into your water before adding to the flour.

seitan is made from gluten so probably not. You can try tempeh, another type of "meat" made from fermented soybeans, or tofu (for a meatier feel, probably go with the extra firm kind, though the softer ones are also delicious imo)
Hi. I need help with baking while using vital wheat gluten / gluten flour. I am trying to make a dupe for this protein cookie I purchased but my cookies keep coming out either too bread like or too gummy textured. I've tried modifying the amount of egg and such but I'm not finding the right ratio. Any suggestions of trying to get a cookie like texture using the following ingredients?
Gluten Flour, Brown Erythritol, White Erythritol, Soybean Oil, Sugar Free Dark Chocolate, Sunflower Lecithin, Monk Fruit Extract, Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans, Eggs, Water, Vanilla Extract, Pink Himalayan Salt, Baking Soda, Baking Powder

Add cheakpeas flour for more flavor.
Ginger also make it spicy and delicious.
Boil it for 15 minutes, when you will see the bubble on skin mean it is cooked.
Remove and keep for drying.

What are the macros of this? How much protein, fat, carbs?
Per 100 grams, 14g of carbs, 75g of protein, 2 grams of fat. Has good iron and calcium as well

Gluten flour, which is TOTALLY different from regular flour. It’s basically the protein that you would get from all purpose flour but isolated. Tho you can make seitan from regular flour by making a dough and washing it to get the starches out

It's very neutral, and needs to be seasoned to be flavorful :)
Marinating it before using it in a dish usually works well

Shouldn't you wash the dough off to seperate the starch and the gluten? Few videos have it as a step.
that's the "washed flour method" that you're referring to and it's used for REGULAR flour. I'm using vital wheat gluten which has essentially already had the washing step done. So, it saves a ton of time. The vital wheat gluten is a more expensive flour but worth it, to me, especially if you make seitan regularly.

@@massudddecat7449 personally I rip the seitan into little chunks and fry in a pan for 5-10 minutes. Sometimes I'll marinate the chunks in soy sauce and spices before cooking

A lot of recipes use regular all purpose flour, but you have to wash the dough a few times to remove the starch.

I understand that you might be confused as to why vegans still eat mock meat products when they've consciously chosen to not eat meat products.
The reason is quite obvious, it's not usually that we don't like the taste of meat products, afterall a lot of us grew up eating meat. We just want more environment friendly as well as ethical alternatives to it. I hope this helped :) and seriously try out the recipe, it was awesome.
