I agree the paint job on this thing is pretty bad but the rest of it seems to be pretty good. I think a repaint could make this look good. Personally I enjoy the different designs and am bored of the basic looks the characters have.
Believe it or not, many knockoffs come from the factories that produce the real thing, running the machines "after hours." One of the most infamous examples is the NECA Mirage style Ninja Turtles. Honestly, in general, NECA had a lot of bad luck with that.
Yeah I gave mine a repaint to make her look more like McFarlane's concept art which honestly looks much better to me. I "wonder" why she didn't turn up to be just like that. It's his own design after all.
Not having seen the art, I couldn't say. Cost is always a factor, and I suppose DC and Warner Bros have final approval as the licensee, so there is always the chance they he was made to change it.
I passed on this figure but found it on eBay cheap. The accessories are my likes. I like the articulation minus the single jointed elbows and no bicep swivel. Also there is a butterfly joint in the shoulders and doesn’t have any movement. The lack of paint brings this figure down.
Yowza! I hadn’t considered this figure before, and I’m very much not now. The face sculpt is beautiful, but the rest doesn’t appeal to me. I want a classic version of her suit!!
Me too! If you look at more recent videos, you'll see I reviewed an alternate red version of this figure which is much better. It's still not the classic we all want, but it's an improvement.
@@5POAFigureReviews , thank you! Something about it speaks to me! I’ve always loved the art of George Perez, especially his Wonder Woman, and it makes me really think of that. eBay, here I come!
Yeah, I really did not like his Batman either. At least with this one, the accessories are awesome and I can use them with other figures. And honestly, this one might not have been so bad if they didn't get lazy with the shoulder texture and it was well painted, but it is what it is.
I love action figure youtube channels, I love guys on the wrong side of 25 still buy and play with action figures. And I like this Wonder Woman version. Why? Because of low hanging boobs, long torso, no ass... (well that's what I don't like about it). The weirdness, the not-Wonder Woman visual. The over detailed outfit. I like it so much I actually bought the repaint this week in july 2024 guys. Now, .. wait I'm going to type that in a different comment.
My only guess as to what happened here is maybe if they painted all that was supposed to be skin (the midriff, her back, etc) it wouldn't be allowed on the toy aisle, kinda like (outside diseny stuff) we can't have slave leia anymore, too much skin? I dunno, regardless I think this figure would have been amazing if they got to paint it right, even some custom paint would really make this amazing, shame I can't paint for shit lol
Hard to say. I thought the reason Battle Damaged Batman wasn't bloody was because it was sold at stores, when really it was just so they could sell a bloody version a few months later. Personally, I think it had more to do with penny-pinching. When you see how thinly they painted her neck and upper chest, then multiply that out by however much they would need to do the whole shebang, and it likely was too costly. But that's just my theory.
@@5POAFigureReviews Probably closer to the truth honestly, I respect Todd for keepin prices at $20 when everyone else is goin up, but at the same time if the result is this, there has to be a better way. Maybe packaged with more stuff to make a deluxe like lady spawn, I don't know for sure how it works. That said your reviews are so good I want to buy bad figures lol, something about the energy you bring always makes me want to bust open a new toy!
Granted she is only $20, and I always take that into account when I'm grading, but when I consider so many other really awesome McFarlane figures at the same price point that aren't this sloppy (or in the case of not texturing half the back, kind of incomplete), I do really feel that the value isn't there. At least not this time. Lots of other great Multiverse out there for $20, though.
Yes, awesome face sculpt. I think the problem, which I should have pointed out, is that the fingers are all individually spaced instead of being a solid block, and the plastic used for the hands is just too soft for that.
@@5POAFigureReviews well yeah her to but I was referring to the McFarlane designed one. Theres a ball joint under the diaphragm cut beneath the rubber.
There is an egomaniacal part of me that wants to believe McFarlane saw my video and decided to release the new one as an apology lol but I know that's not true ha
Sooooooo, this figure barely pass your "grading" and scored a pass and don't buy it because mosty for the reason that it does not look like a a normal Wonder Woman? Got it!... Credibility is important here and removing bias when reviewing a toy should be downgraded because it opposes your bias.
I gave her low marks because I felt she was subpar compared to other McFarlane figures, not because she wasn't a normal WW. Specially, the streaky, splotchy paintwork and the unfinished texture. That affected both Presentation and Price. Note that I did still give her high marks for her articulation and accessories, and there were design choices like the helmet and the boots that I complimented. My only point regarding her not being a regular one is that the toy companies give us what we pay for. If they can keep giving us variants and we keep buying them, they won't give us the versions we want, so, if that upsets you, you should vote with your wallet. I have I have been able to clear things up.
Great questions! As a reviewer, I believe my job is to present the good and the bad to help collectors make the most informed buying decisions that they can, and to hold toy companies to the standards we expect from them so they they either improve or at least not decline. Even if I don't personally like a figure, I know someone out there loves it, or will love it, so I do my best to be fair and to show it off best I can. I doubt there will ever be a figure I can't find something good about, and this one has some good sculpting, great articulation, and fun accessories. I made the second video because it was an improvement and therefore worth talking about.
The shoulder joke was really funny! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
thank you!

A better paint job would definitely do wonders (see what I did there?)
McF must be contracting their paint work to the same factories that produce knock offs.

It's a rough figure for sure, but the accessories are great, so I am glad you got a good deal on her for them.

I’m the beginning of your video, what was that Glorious George Perez inspired Wonder Woman figure from?! What figure line and year? Thanks!
Hasbro JLA. It's a companion line to Total Justice released to the direct market between 1999 and 2000.
@@5POAFigureReviews , thank you! Something about it speaks to me! I’ve always loved the art of George Perez, especially his Wonder Woman, and it makes me really think of that. eBay, here I come!
Your recent review brought me here on the flashback of the packaging alone
Awesome. Hope you liked it.
I actually like this figure even tho some parts are sloppy but she fits in with the justice league and her articulation is pretty good
Yeah, the articulation is incredible. Might just be the best poseability on any mass market WW release.
Eeewwww youuuu, I like her... Lol😂.. rigamarole done 👍, great job as always
Thanks lol and thanks for having a good sense of humor about it
I agree with you on the missing fleash color missing on the figure I was really wanting to buy it mainly because it's a skinny version of wonder woman
I just got the new repaint and will be doing a review of it in the next week or so, so keep your eyes peeled to see if you like it better.
Hello, i believe i'm your 700 subscriber :).
When McFarlane is good they are great, when they are nas, they are terrible.
You are, indeed! Welcome!
Yeah, his Wonder Woman and Batman original design figures look like garbage, and I love McFarlane's work. Hard pass.
Yeah, I really did not like his Batman either. At least with this one, the accessories are awesome and I can use them with other figures. And honestly, this one might not have been so bad if they didn't get lazy with the shoulder texture and it was well painted, but it is what it is.
I mostly got the McFarlane's Batman mostly because he looks older and the sharp wing tips on the shoulders.
I like this and the Batman designs. I'm just waiting for him to do a Superman design. He might as well finish the Trinity at this point.
Very good point. I never got the Batman, but if he does Supes I might hunt him down and have the set
I bought it and gave it a wash and Death Metal WW's cape and she's awesome.
Nice! I'd love to see it!
@@5POAFigureReviews It's one my videos I posted in October. I also added washes to a couple of other Wonder Women in the video.

I detect a note of sarcasm lol
I think she looks like a mortal Kombat character. The gold label version was so much better.

She has Way too much blue on her
Yes, waaaay too much.
I'll only get this as I'm a completionist...you also need to take into consideration this is a $20 figure...

GET EMMMMM!!
Just wait for my Gold Label movie Flash video lol
Why is McFarlane toys so scared to give us just a plain comic book Wonder Woman?
Because if they gave us the one we want, they wouldn't be able to keep getting us to buy these "placeholder" ones, instead.
@@5POAFigureReviews Ah, so they're pulling what Hasbro's been doing with Transformers up until 2018
I just bought her.
I love her face but I hate her sword is so loose
Yes, awesome face sculpt. I think the problem, which I should have pointed out, is that the fingers are all individually spaced instead of being a solid block, and the plastic used for the hands is just too soft for that.
She has more torso articulation under the rubber overlay
The Dark Knights Death Metal?

There is a variant coming soon with the right colors. I'm still not interested tho. We need a classic one and it's long overdue

Yes WORST, thats why McFarlane toys dont give us classic WW, bcs we all agee that McFarlane WW is the WORST.
I'm getting the figure to try and customize it.

Still on the fence with whether or not I will pick up the new one.
