Bo was on a talk show, many years back, talking about performing this song in front of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. They had snuck in to enjoy his show when he broke into Repeat Stuff. I think he had Bieber and Bieber's song Baby in mind when he wrote it. I think the song means repeat the money making formula: good looking singer, vague lyrics, repetitive chorus + teen magazines that make girls feel insecure only to be swooned by said good looking singer. Repeat.
Bo has acted in multiple movies and he's a pretty great actor! He directed a movie called "Eighth Grade" a few years back that was very good! I definitely recommend it as well as his specials (esp "Inside") :)
The video is actually pretty great too. Like the million lamp view like rap videos, and the ridiculously all races club in ront of the car. The Nazi and devil bits make more sense if you saw the live video, but it;s also really well done!
To do the opposite, the live version, he gets the ausience to "repeat stuff" for a couple lines ans he changes the lights to red colors and gets the whole audience to sing along while he does a HITLER salute. For the jokes. OK
I disagree. His videos get to showcase more of his talent, because he has the ability to direct the shots in a way that you can't really do live. And the songs are also more complete in the videos, because he can layer his voice more than he can live. Plus, he's a little bit out of tune in almost all of his live songs. But he's able to properly tune his voice when it's produced, which makes it much more enjoyable to me. Don't get me wrong, I love his live versions too, but I just think there's so many things added in the music videos that make it so much better artistically, and more enjoyable to listen to.
E’s face through this entire reaction took me on a journey 😂 I haven’t seen this music video before, only heard the song in the context of his Netflix special. I think some of the weird imagery towards the end is showing how a lot of artists just repeat stuff over and over in their songs and they get this “cult” following of fans because it’s so catchy and the formula really works? idk
I love Bo so much, but i first saw him do "what" and I'm honestly vry happy that he is still alive becasue he just seemed like one of those people that wasn't gonn live til like 80, ykwim
There’s also subliminal messages toward the end. Blink and you’ll miss them. In all honesty you have to tap and untap the space bar until you pause it just right
@@godzillaeyes Yeah you have to look and pay really close attention and you can catch them. Ik there are things like "CONSUME" and "KILL", idk if i've caught all of them but ik there are screenshots on google of all of them :)
Wow she really didn’t get the point of the ‘repeat stuff’ chorous. Did she think it was supposed to be just an entertaining song? It’s a comedy sketch I don’t think many people realized that
It all comes down to the entertainment industry making the music formulaic. The songs no longer are sang with heart, it's soulless, this video clip just rehashes that which most of us know. This music video comes across as comedy but unfortunately it is completely grounded in reality, metaphors aside.
Wow, how much the two of you are clueless, but you are getting there slowly. Bo Burnham is all about satire and introspection! Watch "Art is dead" and "We think we know you"!

Burnham is said like "Burn em" He actually makes a joke about his last name in the song Words Words Words
"Take off your bras and burn 'em. You can let Bo Burnham burn 'em."
"So read them and hate yourself
Then pay me to tell you I love you"
First time I heard that, I was just blown away

One of the few artists whose live versions are superior, gives you a better view of his true talent

We certainly do see some of his (ahem) talent.

It's pronounced Bo Burn-um.
You should react to bo burnham ‘art is dead’. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it :)

Wait, are you serious? I've watched the video so many times and never saw any blips or anything.

@@gretameske7605 THIS IS ALL A SIMULATION and GOD DIED IN 1993 are the two i spotted
the imagery at the end is referencing people selling their souls to the devil in order to achieve fame
His 2018 film, “Eighth Grade” has a 99% score on rotten tomatoes. It’s fantastic.
Like a diner waitress telling the chef they want their burgers well done: BURN 'EM!
🙏❤️
You can see the jokes flying around over their heads lmao
They truly didn't understand 90%of it, seems like they only picked up on the repeat stuff
Once he found out that Justin Bieber had been in the audience after he did this song live.
Even better, i read that Bieber felt offended by it
Bo is a rarity in that his stuff is best viewed from his live shows. The music videos in my opinion don't hit the same.
She slowly understand.
love how excited you get.
Just call him “Bo Yo. The greatest rapper ever.” 😉
Love to go to a live show ...what an extremely talented artist amazing reaction ..you are both so lovely thanku so much love and God bless x

Another awesome reaction vid!

Say it like burnum
You guys are so great! :)
You should react to Art is Dead or White Woman's Instagram next. :)
Unrelated to this song but it would be interesting to see parents react to the song ‘parents’ by Youngblood
Bo Burnham = Bo Burnam/Burnem
It’s pronounced “Burn-em”
Pronounced: bo burn um
You guys were so confidently incorrect but like in a silly way
😊
