Trust me this guy did more than just send emails. If you want your script to get made you have to do more than just ask someone for permission. Cold queries are not the only way to get your screenplay made into a film. Either learn how to produce your screenplay into a film yourself or pay a producer to do it for you. Start small with a promotional video like one scene from your screenplay. If you don't want to direct it yourself then hire people to do this for you. This is all so much cheaper than spending money entering contests or taking classes. I see so many screenwriters waste money on hope mills it's just sad. Even if you can get through to someone with a query they're going to ask you what kind of traction you have so far. If you haven't even made any kind of advertising materials you will always look amateur.

Great video on a unique topic, Scriptfella! I think that, especially with the internet, you now have access to find so many more people outside of Hollywood who are willing to produce your script or even reach those who are in Hollywood. Hollywood is great, but the film industry is expanding almost everywhere, particularly where I am in England. Best to persist with what is easiest to get into for you and what is realistic.

In a good year I might be able to work up the extroverted energy to mass query maybe every four months. The research, cross-indexing, spreadsheet tracking, customizing letters, etc is a full month's work. Wish I could delegate all that so I can keep writing.

I've been advised NOT to include a logline in a query letter unless the person you're contacting requests it. If you send a logline to someone not currently accepting submissions they may fear legal repercussions, you've started your relationship with that person on the wrong foot.

What I learned is that a lot of migrants are coming over here to America because they say and their own country they can't get this type of help in their owln country that they get in the United States. But I am an American and an American citizen, but I noticed that in my own country America I couldn't sell my script or get my movie made. I was ignored by Hollywood film industry, so I contacted Mexico and noticed how they were willing to help me and work with me. So yeah sometimes you just have to step out of your comfort zone. Now when my own American country and people were ignoring me they didn't even know that my script was a Latino Mexican story neither did Mexico film industry knew they both didn't know, but I told the Mexican film industry and they were very proud of me.

Writing a movie that's based around "2001: A Space Oddesy" meets "The Fountain." It will depict some of the most salient occurences in the human experience across time, from 100,000 years ago up to the present. major topics are love, innovation, sorrow/loss, pain, preparation of food, etm. would this be better for a sundance film festival, or a different production system? It would require heavy CGI.
