  • A brand new 3D view of the Iceland volcanic eruption in Geldingadalur, Iceland that was taken on June 2, 2021. It looks to me that 2 paths are in danger of the lava flowing over them.

      I hope some people do get stuck there, and are forced to wait a long time before rescue choppers arrive. And then they should be sent a bill for the cost of the rescue.

    • @2003mandiman
      @2003mandiman 3 роки тому +4

      Logistics will ensure their wait be excruciating... if not by human form time, self preservation and the fear of dying will most likely slow down their own conception of said time ...
      Having said that,
      I love that the Authorities have walked away! Giving responsibility back to each Self! ... I have zero doubt they are prepared for dealing with all that foresee heading their way .. as well as they can be anyway.
      However, I don't agree with Folks behaving as though it's a given! I also feel they absolutely should pay for their own rescue! Be second in line to anyone whom by no fault of their own are needing rescue!
      And they should ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY add a huge arse Stupid Tax into the cost of the rescue!
      Yes, televise it! Please!
      Just a by the by ...
      Here in Australia, should we have this situation... our dumbarse government would have made it 100% non accessible by now! ... they don't like our folk having the capability to think for ourselves! So they rid us of any need under the b.s. guise that they're doing it for our own good!🤦‍♀️🙄😊

    • @vinayzaveri
      @vinayzaveri 3 роки тому +2

      I m sure that the government has contingency plans for any evacuation. Also the lava progressing towards the path has slowed and hence cooled. A litter construction activity of dumping rubble and increasing the height of the pathway will solve the problem of connection and access to the best view. Having a sadistic approach does no good to anybody.

    I can't believe the sheer stupidity and selfishness of man when they ignore instructions to enable their own safety! Anyone stranded on the mountain should be left there for a good few days to learn a lesson and when rescued, make them pay for everyone involved due to their selfishness. The view from trail 'B' is the best and closest. I think that the second lava flow may go both ways and not just join the Natthagì Valley. Just like fire, lava has a mind of its own. I appreciate these 3D views and all information about this eruption. What does it matter if some think it's small, I think it's absolutely fascinating! Thank you so much Rob, Kris.🇦🇺✌

    The biggest concern is the fibre optic cable. It's a backbone for the internet, connecting North America with Europe (But not the only one luckily). They have begun laying a new cable 2 meters deep which is apparently enough depth to protect from the heat of the lava when it does come.

    Much of the fluid lava is moving through lava tubes so it's hidden from view. The flows seem to be complex so there is that concealed hazard which could break through at any time. It is so risky ignoring the police who are there for everyone's protection. It was the same here in the UK during the height of the pandemic where many refused to stick to the lockdown needs and openly opposed the police - who again were trying to save lives. I am not there in Iceland, my last visit was in January 1980, so I am grateful that it's possible to watch all the fine video productions of the eruption. For many years I have kept Iceland close to my heart, but it has changed so much over the years that I almost don't recognise it now. For me with long memories, it is sad to see the effects of commercialism. I think that something that was so precious about Iceland those many years ago, has been lost. Thank you very much for your 3D presentations as they fill in many missing many items of technical data about the eruption. I shall keep watching. With kind regards, Paul, Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

    We have a local climb in Oregon which goes up a talus trail, and the saying goes: the trail you are climbing today wasn't here last year, and it won't be here next year. Each year the whole trail drops about a foot due to erosion and snow/ice movement. Volcanoes aren't what I'd call permanent structures. Even over the course of a few months I would say that at least 6 major trail changes to get to the cone have taken place.
    BTW, these are great for understanding the whole picture of what is going on, so please keep them coming. On Hawaii there are a number of roads under lava, so at worst this will just be a short detour of life as we know it.

    Can u show where the 1st eruption happened and a brief discription of the others in this 3d image.
    2 suggestions
    1. Why not do some construction and increase the height of the small pathway to the final view point.. So people can continue having excellent views up close
    2. Is it possible to construct another wall near the road.. So that the lava keeps accumulating in the big valley. The valley is quite big and it will give enough time to keep increasing the height of the wall so as to save infrastructure and the road.

    Thank you for walking us through the 3D view and explains what is where, and how it go next. These maps definitely help show how much the landscape has transformed. This may not be the most explosive volcano, but I love the changeable flows and creeps, mesmerizing. Definitely one of my favorites. 💜🌋🌍🇮🇸✌️😸🍀

    Nice job man it's really good to to see what potential it has. Maybe they can dam it up really good down in that lower valley before you get to the road you could make several small dams so that instead of really just damning up the whole valley or anything you just kind of slow up portions of it but low enough that it won't back up in the higher lake.

    Just don't rescue them for a day or two. Get a written apology and make them beg. Fascinating, thanks.

    Yes, I love the 3D. Can't get enough of the volcano videos . Can you do one that shows how close the city is and maybe an ocean view? The people there are fascinating. I love the accent!
