- Easy way to make any leather gloves work on touchscreen devices (best if the gloves are black).
I got the idea from a guy in the UK who posted this video showing his solution;
• Making your motorbike ...
Genius! I saw the other video as well and this is a better option and I had a can of spray graphite already. Worked like a champ and quick to apply whenever you need a recharge...no pun intended!
Still good.
Who would give a thumbs down on this video , I have a couple of pairs I need to do this to . Can I use another brand of graphite spray in case that brand not available ..
I never noticed the thumbs down. I have no idea why anyone would give a thumbs down. I don't really GAF.....lol. This worked for me. It didn't change the way the gloves looked or fit and worked fine on my mobile phone using the Jig-A-Loo spray. The Jig-A-Loo is a black color so insn't noticeable at all on black gloves. If you had a pair of light buckskin gloves or any light color leather I wouldn't use it. If some other brand is true graphite and dries like spray paint in a few seconds like the Jig-A-Loo it should work fine.
I've given this a try on my Icon Patrol gloves and works like a charm. Maybe have sprayed a bit much as some graphite seems to flake off a bit.
I found it just soaks in. I think if you might have put a lot on after a few days of use any excess will just dissipate and not be noticeable.
@@ozzie444 yep. I let the gloves out to dry post the spray but maybe a bit too much. Will have a try tomorrow with a little wipe off and see how it works.
Awesome idea
Thank you...
i guess the yanks nearly always confuse Brits with Aussies. Good vid
Well, he is Canadian, so....
I guess whatever you are nearly always confuses Canadians with Americans, lol.
See if your phone has 'Glove mode' in Display Settings. Works on my htc U11.
Thanks for the further experiment / follow-up video Ozzie... & props to JJ as well!!
Curious to know if the Graphite soaked all the way through and touches the skin as well.. I suppose it must..
right?
JJ's seems to use the Soap to make it soak through..
I'm going to try this too.. on my huge, full cuff, winter riding gloves..
Thanks guys!
No it doesn't soak through. It dries like when you spray paint anything. It should work fine on your winter riding gloves.
Super! I have never beet on the motorcycle.....really:(
Any danger with the graphite touching your skin through the gloves even when dry?
I didn't feel or notice anything soaking completely through. The Jig A Loo graphite spray is more like a paint coating that dries quickly. It looks like it soaks in some but because it dries fast it doesn't seem to get completely through. FYI when I was in the store before I bought the Jig A Loo I sprayed a bit on the metal frame of the shelf and it dried within a few seconds. It was like a translucent semi-transparent gray/black coating. This didn't make an difference on my gloves because they're black but I wouldn't apply it on tan or buckskin gloves. The gloves I used in the video were my cold weather gloves. Since then I applied the Jig A Loo to another pair of black lighter weight perforated summer riding gloves. All is good.
Does the graphite dull or ruin the leather in any way?
If your gloves are another color besides black maybe so but with black it's not an issue.
Great back up video :) Also Im in Australia, not the UK :).. How long did it last for you?
The snow is just going away now so I haven't had a chance to wear them a lot but I did wear the gloves a few times during the winter. So far so good and as I answered another guy even if later the treatment seems to be losing it's effectiveness it only takes a few seconds to respray the gloves.
How long has this lasted you? I want to put this on my heated glove liners. Would this solution be valid for fabric?
Hey.... I just happened to be on my laptop now. I'm in Canada & it's winter (cold & snow). It's been 3-4 months now and the gloves I did the treatment to are my cold weather motorcycle gloves and one of a pair of 3 or 4 different gloves I wear during the winter so I haven't had a chance to do a real long term test of the durability of the treatment yet but they are still working OK on my phone. Even if later the treatment seems to be losing it's effectiveness it only takes a few seconds to respray the gloves. The graphite spray dries a dark charcoal sort of black color. I think it should work on fabric. Black fabric or leather would be best because of the dark color of the graphite spray. And even if you ended up being unsatisfied with the Jig-A-Loo graphite you'll still have an excellent lubricant for all your locks, sticky/squeaky doors & hardware, hinges, padlocks or anything else needing to be lubricated or made slippery....lol..
any1 know of an equivalent to the jig-a-loo graphite extreme in the UK? So far I tried "Holts Graphite Maintenance Spray" this did not work at all, then I tried "Q Oil Q5 Graphite-Based Penetration & Lubricating Oil" this worked for 8 hours.
Looks like it's available on Amazon.
@@ozzie444 not in the UK :-(
it s banned now in the US
Do you know why? Sometimes these bans are ridiculous. I guess if you spray it into your mouth it might do some harm. I read a comment on a post a few days ago where 50 years ago if you bought a car your owners manual would tell you how to adjust the valves and now the owners manual tells you not to drink the contents of the battery, Despite all the information on anything in the world now being available at your fingertips I believe people 200 years ago were smarter than they are now.
I just purchased this off Amazon about 40 minutes ago, no issues so far. We will see if it gets delivered to my house in Yuma in a week or so. Didn't appear to be banned in the US.
