Somatic narcissists are obsessed with appearance, money, and status. They thirst for being complimented constantly and believe that they are the center of the world. They have unreasonable selfish needs and if they are not met they will certainly devalue you and use other manipulation tactics to bring you under their control or groom you to be what they want you to be.
They spend a ridiculous amount of time on perfecting their looks. They will demand that you also focus on perfecting your looks in hopes of having the perfect appearance to gain status and prestige. They teach their children that they are more valuable for their looks and status achievements rather than character. This often creates a child that is socially and emotionally competitive for the purpose of receiving attention.
They will target your self-esteem by putting you down while bragging about themselves. One of the biggest red flags is when they tell you how to wear your hair, clothes, or change your appearance to suit their desires in some way. When an abuser devalues you, you will start to believe it if you hear it enough. Narcissist are very sick people. Hoping, praying, and waiting is not going to change their toxic behaviors. You have to break free from the cycle of abuse.
