I absolutely can not tell which is which while watching on an iPhone.
Also those animations+textures look dope
I watch a ton of youtube content and I'd consider myself a Canon fanboy and this was probably the best footage comparison I've seen. The pacing was phenomenal, the information wasn't too technical and you are a charismatic dude.
Loving this analysis. Thank you. I keep coming back to it as I learn more and edge towards a professional set up.
I dig the fast pace you have in your video. No bull$hit. Everything mentioned off topic was valid, and I couldn’t appreciate that enough 👌 Epic
What a legend, I just got my c70 today and tomorrow I was going to do that exact test. Now I don’t have to. Thanks.
So much effort put into this video I learned a lot
One of the best, if not the best review and analysis of what really matters regarding the recording options brought by the C70, you have just cleared my mind and decided with which camera I will buy! Def the C70! thank men! you have just won a subscriber!
Thank you for taking so much time to do this comparison. Really appreciate the effort and the final product. I have two C300m2 and was wondering about the codecs in this camera and how they worked. very helpful.
Thank you for this!
Exactly what I & (WE) needed 💯
Keep up the great work, I’m sure this was a lot of work but well worth the watch!
That test at the end pretty much knocked it right out the park!!! i HONESTLY couldn't tell the difference 😶😶😶.... you're making me question my life when it comes to what settings i should shoot in 😅
Great video 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thanks for this vid - I had to search a LOT to find someone covering this... You are a god send.
Thank you for making this video. Super helpful. Regarding your issue with resizing DCI 4k footage, you could copy and paste the scale attribute to multiple clips at once. This works for me because I generally always put all my clips from a shoot in a string-out sequence and then scrub through that and pull clips for my edit sequence.
Good video, a lot of work. I prefer 10 Bit 422, MP4 (h265) because I am editing on a new M1 Mac and they churn through H265 like its butter and it has the benefit of having a smaller file size than XAVC. Loving the C70. Cheers!
@@MattKitchenStoriesthis the air or pro? And what about editing the XF-AVC files? Is that a better codec or color space than these mo4 h.265? Debating of getting the Canon C70.
Wow, super in depth video. Very well thought out and executed. Props and thank you. It’d be nice to see the same for the R5.
Solid video! Thanks for giving up your time to do the research. This may have been a decision making in making me buy the C70!
This video was so helpful. Seriously great content, and enjoyed that you explained exactly what the video was about in the first sentence. Liked/subbed!
I've watched this video at least 5 times throughout the course of owning my C70. Thank you for making this video.
such a great content over here
full of useful information
well done man
This video was great. You touched on a very important subject - storage vs resolution. Storage is limited, as much as we want high resolution we sometimes (mostly) can't afford it
About to get a C70 for work and needed this video. Thank you and great editing!
damn fine editing in this video
Thanks Tyler! It’s great to hear from a fellow ginger-bearded John Hodgeman-loving canon shooter
This was very helpful. Thanks!! I’ll likely be renting this camera so this is stuff I do not have time to check - so I appreciate it!!
I work for a production company who just bought a C70. Thank you so much for your video.
This is fantastic info, thanks for taking the time to do this.
I come back to this video so often. Great stuff.
I don't think I commented before - This video SAVED ME! Only shoot in XFAVC - Makes editing soooooooo much better
@Mr. Acosta Full sped 2020 MBP 16 - just shoot in XFAVC and you’ll be fine. At 4K 120 I still get lag, but it’s doable
Informative video, well executed and edited. Earned my sub.
Because of you... I went from C100 Mk II and 5D Mk IV to now a C70. Your help in these video has been priceless. Thanks
That was really well .. thanks for taking the time to do this video
Great video and work. Eventually I have ...... My default setting. Card A 422 4k Lgop (no need for All-i and file sizes!) Card B 420 1080 proxy with Rec709 colour space. Works great and I send an 4k HDMI signal to my Ninja V (500gb SSD) in Log 2, but view it in my fav LUT while shooting. Use as extra backup if I run out of Card A (anglebird 128gb) space and need to format it. Sorted ! I think !!!
Oh god!!! Thank you, that's what I was waiting for and you are the only one who thought "Alright it can shoot 4k 422 10bit, but file size DOES matter..."
This was a really, really useful video - I'm still shooting with humble C100 4.2.0 8 bit camera and as I look to graduate, possible to the C70 I've wondered what to expect in actual working file sizes and quality considerations. I've been feeling the 4K envy pretty bad, but more so just having 10bit 4.2.2!
Super helpful to someone who just bought a C70. Thank you so much.
Good video! You can see how much work you put into it :)
Super helpful video! Appreciate your time and effort in making this. Also just subscribed your channel:)
Thank you! Great information. I am looking to buy the C70 and this was very helpful. 😀
Thanks man, super useful, well explained and very cool
i'm loving the c70 and after getting mine, i'm loving even more all the enthusiastic c70 users i'm finding on youtube!
This was amazing, thank you for doing this!
The hand written cards is more effort than I would of done, subbed.
Thanks bro i will get this camera tomorrow because I change old all my stuff and i see all the review for c70 in your channel 👍❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks. I was getting ready to do the same thing with all the shooting settings. I better grab a cup of coffee for this one.
Very useful and clearly explained, thank you. Watching the example video at the end on youtube on an iPad it is very difficult to see the difference. I will try it again on a 55 inch tv screen.
amazing content, clear explanations, funny but not trying to be funny, and going to get that camera after you thought me everything. thanx! And subscribed of course!
learned so much from this video. Thank you!
Excellent work on this 👍
Thankyou for your time and effort.
you have definitely earned my subscribe 👍
I like the breaking music, thanks for detailed information.
Incredibly useful and appreciated video. Thanks. I've had the C70 since Dec 30th. Love it. Still figuring it all out. Finally got a hold of the auto focus...
It took me a little while to get a hold of the auto focus too, I'm not used to so many options!
@@JohnTSteinbeck Use the AF boosted option, +2 AF speed, +3 AF response
For your test I looked at it fullscreen on an iMac pro, I could tell the right was sharper but after youtube compression it was way harder to tell than I thought it was going to be, HD looks fantastic
This was great help, thank you!
great video, great info, great editing. thanks bro!
Very useful for a C100 MkI and GH5s user like me, considering upgrading this year.
Thanks! Yes I could tell the difference on UA-cam and I checked my YT settings afterwards and I was on Auto 480!
spectacular content, thank you!
Thanks a lot for this video. it's really helpful
Very informative and entertaining 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you for your hardwork on this
Thanks for this, very helpful.
That annoyance when importing DCI 4K footage to Premiere is more about Premiere itself than the footage aspect ratio. In Resolve, you have the option of filling the frame, which would be equivalent to that 50% change you mentioned. I'm not familiar with other editors, but I'm sure there might be a feature request for Adobe to implement that, so maybe you'll get it soon enough. Very useful info with the filesizes, thanks for doing that research!
Would also like to see a video like this with the R5. Think file sizes could make or break a buying option for some, me included. Torn between the c70 and R5, this video helps for sure. Thanks
This was so freaking helpful. Wow. Thank you.
cool thanks had issues with the black bars now realised was the UHD thing
woowwww. awesome information here! thanks, dude!
the 10 bit codecs are all h265 except the xf avc. that might be why the files dont get bigger that much. you basically can get pro res 422 quality in a way smaller file if all-i h265. as for the 46.9 you can make a 50 preset u can drag and drop on all the clips.
well done. thank you, it helped a lot!!
Danny doing the heavy lifting for us. Thanks kindly for this video, it’s
super helpful.
Great video. I’ve been watching lots of videos about 4.2.2 vs 4.2.0 and nobody can see any difference unless they move to ridiculous lighting setups and push the colours to crazy levels and even then difference is subtle. Gerald undone has a great video about it. It’s also the 4.2.2 that my computer struggles with in edit (h265) whereas 10 Bit H265 4.2.0 is fine and it’s the 10 bit that gives us way more colours. So for me def 10 bit but 4.2.2 is unnecessary slowdown. I’m now testing to see if long goo will be ok for my nature vids or all-I better for water/leaf movement etc.
I pressumed the right was the 4k, it just looked more pleasing. But on a phone it all looks similar haha I'd have to try out viewing on a bigger screen. Great vid 💯
I had to come back to this video and just watch it again
You need to make a export settings video because your footage looks amazing
Wow… this was great. Thank u!!!
Holy Cow that difference at the end was just about negligible. UA-cam compression is weird. But that 8bit version wasnt bad at all. I think for that shot you could easily get away with using the 8bit codec. But outside with high DR 10bit all the way!
Thanks for sharing!
Super practical and useful
Great video 💪
Rented this camera for a shoot and shot it ALL in MP4... I hope making proxies will help the editing process.
Thank you!🙌
Great information, I’m coming from the C100MKII to the C70, and I’ve been wondering what would be the best setting. I use premier for editing, and will be getting the new IMac Pro. Most of my videos are used for UA-cam or PR purpose.
Canon needs to send you a check bruh ... lot's of work gone into this. Thank you for the info.!
Yes I could see the artifacts on the wall with the 8 bit. I have a 6K pro as well as a C70. I'm on the fence about if I should trade it for a camera that will match the C70 better.
To be able to see the MP4 files, use a MacBook with M1 proccesor, it is a hardware decoding issue with HEVC/H.265
Super informative! Do you happen to have any test footage for download? About to purchase C70 but my editor wants to make sure it records MP4 8/10-bit and there are no issues in premiere. We would use that as proxy for clients. All I could find online was .MXF sample footage. Thanks for making these 🙏🏼
Ahhh how I want this camera !!! As a 5D MkIV user and used to dealing with 4K MJPEG where a 128GB card only fits half an hour, these sizes don't scare me at all.
fantastic. thank u!
great your Comparison between 1 sec 1min 1 hour. thank you very much
Got my c70 a couple of weeks ago and I'm loving it. I was wondering if there are optical viewfinders alternative to the zacuto z-finder? Thanks.
Thanks for this video! If you’re in a situation where you want to jump back and forth from Normal Record to S&Q (120fps) how is this done if you’re trying to stay in XAVC? (I’m not able get 120 frames in XAVC S&Q).
well explain ,,,,thank u
Thanks for this.
Hi man, thanks for the time you put into checking the filesize and giving valuable input. I have one question for the C70: Which SD Cards do you use and how long can you shoot in 120fps in 4K with them before the buffer is full.
I’m using Kingston 128s. I haven’t had any buffering issues but I never shoot 120 so I can’t say
Great content!
Does anybody knows if this camera can shoot 60fps in ALL INTRA XF-AVC 10 bit 422? Because I just can’t find that option no matter what setting I’m using.
Thank you 🙏🏾
This was rad! I would love to see a follow up now that it has raw:)
Thanks! I actually did make a video about the new raw and it’s sizes if you’re interested you can search for it on my channel
Hello thank you for your patience in sharing all your knowledge. i'm considering buying the c70. I have a question that never saw answered anywhere. c300iii have raw and complex formats that record 410mb/s or higher, but has also CF express cards that match that write speeds. The fastest SD card on the market writes what? 300mb/s. With the update, if you can record 410mb/s or higher with the C70 how does the SD card manages to record that without issues? thanx
"Longop" love that.
Legend. Greatly appreciate your opinions here! :-)
Due to MANY firmware updates this video is SUPER outdated. There's still some good info in here so I won't unlist it but if you want my current recommendations I have a Canon C70 course here: www.ericwalkervideo.com/c70
