Seems like this song is more about losing your own identity in another to try to win their approval. When someone makes you lose your own identity to come to their side, there is no love in that relationship. I know. I have been there.
Gotta stand up and applaud the vocal talent. I mean, hot damn. The easy transition from singing voice to falsetto is practically flawless. Great and versatile voice; the control of that instrument adds so many great nuances to the music which really makes this band stand out. Suck it, autotune -- this is what real musical talent sounds like.
I guess you can really understand yourself when you go through relationships and realize what you do and do not like about them, thought heartbreak will always be a result of each encounter. But "I'll worry about consequences later."
I love Poets of the Fall and all there songs. They are all beautiful and have meaning. But I really connect with this one. I really understand this one.
I think the real message here is the fact that we often see the people around us with rose tinted glasses, and that we see what we want to see in them and overlook anything we might otherwise perceive as negative. Just like it says in the next line it says that he hears her out till he finds himself, i.e. until he hears what he himself wants and expects to hear.
Got hooked on POTF after Late Goodbye in Max Payne 2, awesome band. Love all their albums, the lyrics are just epic and so moving at times. Just wish they'd tour more widely. :)
Well, music from Poets of the Fall is deep, and everyone is free to come up with their own meaning :). But in my opinion, it is about the speaker searching for someone who left him behind (like a special someone). And even though they never really felt that close when it ended, he feels that there something that still lingers. Like a question that only the one who left him can answer, and that is why the singer is searching, no matter what the may happen next, or when he finally gets answers

Love this band , first heard of them while using madonion benchmarks later futuremark then of course max payne and the rest is history, what i don't understand is why the record labels havant been running to sign them and use a decent budget to promote them around the world, they should be maga huge,also there stuff only get better but at the same time and this is rare not making there earler stuff sound crap but still good :-)
