Chuck I use that stuff every day. I do sewer line estimates and replacements for my company. There is a south and north pole on the locator. If you find one then go north or south following the the two parallel lines you will find the equator. That's where your camera head will be. Awesome that your using a camera and locate tech.
Is there an audible sounder on the locator? It may help you zero in on the location faster. If you haven't seen the Drain Addict channel on UA-cam, check it out. He is a drain cleaning specialist working in Sydney Australia. He uses a pressure jet to blast away tree roots.
Hey CB how ya been buddy? Nice set up dude. That's bad ass for ur first camera and locator. When I do it I always test it before going in the sewer. Make sure u can locate it on the ground first then send it in. Also with the locator model I have, when u find the head u hold the down button for 3 seconds and it gives you a solid depth. Also ridge has reps in the area that will come to your shop and train your crew on the equip
Nice work Chuck i do this every day in the netherlands and next week i get my ridgid cx65 monitor en the new true sense camera greetings from Amsterdam
Awesome new toy Chuck! When Drain Addict Oliver uses his drain camera in bright sunlight he has an umbrella handy to shade the screen and eliminate the glare. Have you checked him out yet? I'm sure you would enjoy watching him and Just clear Aussie drains.
The reason it’s jumping 12” in just a little movement with the locator is because you off the camera head. It will pick up a signal even if you aren’t on top of it and it will register it being deeper then it actually is. I’m not familiar with rigid but on mytana cameras the important thing to do is trace the frequency and find the highest. Once you have done that walk around in the spot in a square pattern with the locator to make sure it’s not a ghost signal. Sometimes electrical lines or cable lines will throw signals. It takes a few dig ups and oh shit theirs no pipe here to figure the cameras out down to a tee. Believe me I have been 5ft off in the street before and that’s even worse haha. Good luck man the videos are great.
it can also be skewed by the concrete thickness, metal rebar/mesh, gravel, tile, rocks and other metal objects like the solar led pathway light right by it :)
Chuck, never used one of these before. Does the sonar pick up the entire cable so you can mark the sewer pipe or just the head? We do mostly mechanical and minor plumbing clogs. Thinking of getting into more sewer cleaning. What does scoping of lines normally go for?
Good stuff chuck. Im on the ridgid sea snake team as well, i got the red locator . It makes you a very good plumber when you dont have to guess whats going on . Alpt of plumbers dont have the camera. Its worth about 8,ooo thousand bucks aud, in australia but woth it my maye.
at my job they have a ridgid standar reel camera and the scout locator and i own my self the gen eye digital locator which i believe is more easy to use compare to the scout
Chuck camera system is awesome. I freaked out when I looked up the price of it. 10 to 15 thousand for that. I wouldn't keep it in a van overnight. For that price it goes Wherever I Go. I'm a little bored today so I'm catching up on some of your videos you made. I got 50 more videos to watch. I am so behind. James From Warren, Michigan
If the camera head is not horizontal it will give an incorrect reading, the head is between the 2 poles, get a pipe guide for the head & see much better, sometimes the depth will lie to you a foot or so even if the head is horizontal, turn the sound up on locator, it helps alot
Where's CB2 & AB, your street flagging and safety cone crew? That seesnake is neato. The evidence don't lie! Wish I had one, would like to put it down the line a few places to prove my theories.
Nice and easy, the older ones would want you to format the disc......RAGE...... nice tool, you have to spend money to make money or errr I mean give back to the community.

Super stoked and thanks for the lesson....Im gonna need some quality time with locator for sure.

What a great video... Keep them coming!

training day coming.

Thanks CB for sharing that. I gotta get me one of those, not to crazy about the drill driven snake that ridgid came out with.
Ya..Im stoked on camera and flex gonna have its place. Just found out i was using it wrong..that may help.
Nice work Chuck i do this every day in the netherlands and next week i get my ridgid cx65 monitor en the new true sense camera greetings from Amsterdam
Thanks E..Its so cool. I never had one and I am 3-3 on problem solving now that i can see what heck is going on.
We are 47 years late, and still don't have a sewer cam. Nice set up you have there Chuck!
Anthony....a game changer.
Good work finding the problem. That is one expensive toy though, but perhaps not to a plumber. (grin).
oh its just what I needed. gonna pay for itself in short time. no doubt.
I like the battery operated camera. Can you still plug it into an outlet if needed?
yes indeed.
Chuck at it again! Watching the master now!
Music in next vid....promise
@@ChuckBarron Death metal please! Lol

I have. He is killer. I like his stuff.
That is a great bit of kit Chuck 👍
I want one ! But wouldn't want to get it dirty 😀
I had it in my living room for a week...lol....not no more. thanks pb.
I can't believe it's only 3 feet deep at the property line. In southern California at the property line is average 6ft deep
hovo topchyan earthquakes
we hit water quickly along the barrier islands.
Mine is 15 feet down!

It just picks up the head
If you buy a ridgid brick it will pick up the entire line
No expert yet but the head only has sensor in it..
You expanding more into drain cleaning?
Ken Enos And why do you care are you his competitor LOL love you guys as plumbers it’s a hard job and nobody wants the most respect much respect
I have always did drain cleaning. Part of my scope as i see it. No drain no gain....lol
I know you have done drain work, now with the new tools you can do more.

Its a game changer..It just save me on a club sewer job. No guessing. found the issue..its a wrap.
Once your over the camera head, let locator touch ground to get exact depth.
Thanks Mr. Plumber. I do need to training on the magic stick.
Grease floats and cools to the top of pipe.
oh wow....interesting. thanks
good point, with low spots and pitch issues :)
You have too hold the locator straight down . Your holding it at an angle. It will trow you messurements off. By a foot or two..
Thank you. We have honed in now a days...ha.
its in elmer new jersey
elmer? What is?
The Ridgid SeeSnake looks like a command center.
I can't wait to iron out the kinks on it.
You need to loop the push rod on that camera to make the corners.. loop and twist then push
Good idea on loop. as you see I never had a camera before. new toy.

Sweet!
amen.
Look into Ridgid's locating videos or call the ridgid rep to train you how to use the equipment. Best of luck.
I love my ridgid equipment but the ridgid tech support is terrible, the people I have talked to have no clue how to run their own equipment
Thanks sewer..appreciate that.
rut row...im calling JJ then...lol
@@ChuckBarron hey I just posted a how to use the locator video on my page, hope it helps out. We have different equipment but it's the same technique.
My tip: Wipe the camera line down with baby wipes every time as you push it back in the reel housing.
Thanks J. good idea
embrace the technology
amen.....jet is next.
I work for a company that doesnt pride itself on quality equipment. They have a very low quality camera/locator.
Roger that. Where you out of? We recruiting....ha

got it done finally.
Dude . I. Would use a cable machine with a 6 inch blade and get that blockage in 30 seconds
for sure. I know i have cleaned it personally 3-4 times over the years...Had to get to the root of the problem with my new toy....ha
I think that’s a lot of unnecessary work... I find my object in pipe.. send cable down with 6” blade and attack it.. works every time
attack!!! Thanks Robert.
Ridgid camera is great... I have a MyTana ... I like it better
