I am so totally impressed and way beyond my extensive vocabulary in the ability of expressing how impressed I am with all your tatting videos. They are so very informative and helpful. I have been wanting to learn how to do tatting so that I can incorporate it into my jewelry designs. And because you are so very talented and have shared this talent with the rest of us (THANK YOU SO MUCH) I can finally achieve this goal!!! Please continue blessing us with your wonderful GIFT of TEACHING!!!
You are a lovely young lady and you do a great job with your tutorials! I would love to make more flowers and hearts. I know that is probably simplistic, but I see so many beautiful pictures, and I just can't grasp the patterns. I'm a complete visual learner, it's how I taught myself to knit and crochet, so your videos are a life-saver for a new tatter! Keep up the good work! God bless!
Shirley, "Hi"! I'm so glad you are liking the videos. I don't have a video for the tatted foot thongs yet, but I'll put it on my list. I do have the finished item for sale and also a tatting pattern for the tatted foot thong as well... They can be found on the RustiKate shop on Etsy (there is a link on the "RustiKate" UA-cam channel page, right side. The pattern is also available on Craftsy. The pattern is the Deluxe version, with step-by-step how-to photos. Thank you for you Comment! :)
Marianne, I am so glad that you are tatting! :) I have a few PDF patterns available online on the Etsy and Craftsy RustiKate Shops. Also there is a RustiKate Facebook Page, that I share patterns on from time to time. You might find these helpful, as it is so hard to find tatting patterns there in Denmark. Keep tatting, and please let me know what kind of items you would like to tatted most! :)
What size/age are your nieces? How soon do you need the pattern? And do you want a simple bracelet pattern, or would something like cute tatted flower hair clips, tatted flower/butterfly shoe clips (super cute on everything, even sneakers & sandals), be an option? Let me know what you can, and I'll see what I can find and/or make for you. :)
Thanks so much for the clear instructional videos - I have tatted with a shuttle some years ago but it is much easier following your needle tatting method.....I am a reborn tatter and full of enthusiasm to learn more. Thanks again - wish I had discovered them years ago!
Thank you, for your videos , I have learned needle tatting, after seeing how you do it, I use me left hand, so I need to look one or two times, I trying to find a needle tatting book or patterns here in Denmark, but it is impossible, so I'm happy when there are new from you.
Tell you what, since it is such a special time for them, I'll sit down today and write you a basic one size fits most needle tatting bracelet pattern and try to send it to you today. I'll try to post it on your UA-cam Channel page, on the "Comment" section. If you're okay with sharing your e-mail, we could also do it that way (that would be more of a for sure), but no worry if not. Hopefully this will work, we will give it a try! :)
Wendy, "Hi"! Yes, I know what you mean. I have not see a good tutorial on this for needle tatting, but it can be done, I have done it for past projects. I will put how to do "ring (R.) w/center bead" on my list of tatting videos to do. Thanks for the comment! :)
Thank you, so glad they are helpful! :) And yes, "pearl tatting" can be done on the needle, and I will put it on my list of videos to do in the future. Keep tatting!!! :)
Thank you for your great videos. As a beginner, I think it would be helpful to watch a video on a complete project. Obviously, something small- possibly a cute heart that includes all the tatting- ds, picot, chain, reverse, and joining. :) Thank you again!! :) Look forward to the next video!
Thank you so much. I have been tatting away on a simple edging for some linens, it has been very good practice. I am going to work on the bracelet project in your newest video. I have been crocheting for over 40 years and although I do love it the hooks have not been touched since i picked up the tatting needles. But if I may ask your for another lesson, can you show how to do thrown off rings, especially on rings.
Greetings and Merry Meet! Sorry about the previous comment. Puppies were demanding attention. Lol. While I have been crocheting for over 30 years (yes that makes me old. Lol). I am just beginning to learn tatting. I got me a book and started...then decided to find a good instructional video to help me along. Viola I found you. Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge. I would love to see an instructional video to make dragonflies (I've found butterflies and I'm hoping dragonflies
Thank you so much for your clear and concise videos. I have found them all to be very helpful. I would like to know if pearl tatting can be done via needle tatting. If it can, would you consider creating video? thank you!!
I learned tatting with a shuttle years ago and didn't do much with it. When I decided to take it up again I found needle tatting!! I am really enjoying it now. I have found a video on putting a bead in the center of a ring (the ring surrounds the bead). But I can't figure out how to do it with a needle. I have worked on it some but end up with a bit of a gap at the top of the ring. I would really like to have a picot there instead. Search Bead in Center of Tatted Ring to see what I mean.
I'm new to needle tatting and i found your videos. They are wonderful and easy to follow. I'm trying to find a video that shows using the needle for split rings and split chains.
I would be happy to watch any kind of diy videos. And if you could redo the first videos you did about needle tatting one year ago, it would be wonderful because I must admit it is not easy to see precisly what to do in those first videos you did. Thanks anyway for sharing with us :)
I should do a video on this and explain it, patterns can be so confusing when explained wrong or not explained at all! If you go to my RustiKate Channel page, on right side are links. Click on "Tatting Blog" link, once there type "Definition of Tatting Abbreviations" in right hand corner "search" box. My list of abbreviation and meanings should appear. Hope this helps! :)
This does happen, and a lot. Until I can do a video, here is a trick I use... If you know that you are going to be joining to a particular picot several times, when you make that picot, make it extra small. Then after it has been joined to multiple times, and has stretched, it ends up the same size as the rest (stretched from it's small size to a normal size). Try it, see if that works. :)
One problem I seem to be having frequently is my picots are "stretching" when I do multiple joins in the same picot. I try hard not to pull on them, but it still happens. It seems to not happen as much if I use a crochet hook, but I'd rather use the tatting needle to join, but that's when they stretch. If you can do a video that shows how to prevent this, that would be great! (Videos that address common problems, not just how to's, would be really helpful!) Thanks so much for all your work!
I just started and am struggling coming up with my own pattern and old love to make something for gifts for my nieces adoption day gifts. Do you have any suggestions?
Would like to learn how to add a tatted edging to fabric. I have tatted an edging/lace for a dress and would like to see the proper/best way to attach it to a hem.
would you please show how we can design our own tatting projects. I love rings and would like to design some myself but i have not had much luck. Thanks.
I would like to see the finished project at the beginning of the video so I can get an idea of what we will be working on. Also would like to see how can we incorporate tatting with photo projects such as cards, xmas ornaments, etc...
I see a lot of crocheters that tat...and I am a long time crocheter...however, I am brand new at tatting. Think you could show ways to incorporate the two? Because I am totally at a loss of how to mix the two!
Hi Katy, just saw this video. What would be really neat is a tat-a-long. Any project. Doilies are good, bracelets, belts, ??? Thanks! oh and a video explaining the difference between joining and attaching. :) That seems to be my nemesis. Love all your stuff.
+Rachelle Bennett Rachelle, thanks for this! I have been shamefully absent from UA-cam, but hope to change that soon. I totally agree, follow along video projects it is! Going to do it! Blessings ~ Katy :)
I have come across square rings and "onion rings." I'm not sure how to make either. I would love to know how to make both as I have started experimenting with basic patterns to see what I can come up with/personalize them a bit. I would be grateful if you could demonstrate those techniques. Thanks.
I have a question about tatting books. I made a mistake of buying a book thought it was needle tatting. Big mistake it was for shuttle only. How do you tell on line the description isn't very clear. Any suggestions , please.
I really want to learn how to join motifs to make a table runner. I can't seem to find anything. Everything is beginners and I think I got the basics down. I want to advance. Thanks.
I am trying a pattern which requires leaving bare thread for 1/4 inch before making a ring. I am having a hard time visualizing how to do this. I prefer needle tatting rather that shuttle. Help!
They are 16 and 13. The adoption is today and the party is Saturday. I have been frantically looking for patterns even bookmark patterns that can be used as bracelets, but most of them are for shuttle tatting and I'm not comfortable enough changing a shuttle pattern for needle tatting.
I am a little confused about patterns~~~your instructions are easy here as you go, but when I ordered my kit to get started it came with a book, and this person doesn't say when it means~~~~such as R 12-22, Lp, 2-2-10, Sp, 2 Cl~~~~~ Pattern reading can be hard, I am an avid knitter and crocheter too so I can read those pretty well. Help! LOL

Hello, thanx for makin these how to videos, I'm just starting to learn. I would love to learn how to make what's on your feet. That is beautiful.

I would so like to see this too. Also, most edgings are long straight patterns. How do you attach to something round and then join the ends?

It's on its way to you!
I would also like to see a walkthrough of a full project, a simple one like a snowflake. How to read written instructions also.

Penny, yes, that would be a great video idea. That is a hard concept to visualize. Thanks! Blessings ~ Katy
can you show a left-handers version of needle tatting ...flipping and tying the knots are an issue
They are 16 and 13. The adoption is today and the party is Saturday. I have been frantically looking for patterns even bookmark patterns that can be used as bracelets, but most of them are for shuttle tatting and I'm not comfortable enough changing a shuttle pattern for needle tatting.
Also, how to attach separate pieces of tatting, for instance, two separate medallions, or two separate pieces of edging.
Can you please please send a triangular design for using in an indian attire called a blouse

How to attach a piece of tatted lace to material... Like a table runner.
Greetings Kayie
This is frustrating to me. I don't think I will ever get it ! ! ! I already have needles, thread and some easy patterns. I will try again later : {
Another suggestion: How to tat around rings
I have been searching for needle tatted bracelets and can't seem to find anything. Something simple like your barefoot Sa
