Writer-director Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird) has crafted a Little Women that draws on both the classic novel and the writings of Louisa May Alcott, and unfolds as the author’s alter ego, Jo March, reflects back and forth on her fictional life. In Gerwig’s take, the beloved story of the March sisters - four young women each determined to live life on her own terms -- is both timeless and timely. Portraying Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth March, the film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, with Timothée Chalamet as their neighbor Laurie, Laura Dern as Marmee, and Meryl Streep as Aunt March.

Friedrich is supposed to be German, middle-aged and a bit homely, not French, young and hot. Sigh.
this is a Merican movie, what do expect, everyone need to be young and hot and wealthy
@@nuttynut722 The 1994 movie got him right. Then again, they got a lot of things right.
Yeah, but I am *not* complaining about the change!
@@laurasosnow7507 yeah,a 40 year old man for a 25 year old doesn't sit right with me😶
@@nuttynut722What a dork 😂
Jo is expert at making sudden decisions😂 be it rejecting Laurie or proposing Frederich without any pre-thoughts. Rather, Amy was much more matured to focus on her painting career, while also with the decision of not marrying a pauper.
She rejected Laurie because clearly she loved him only as a 'Friend'!. And in the book version she accepted Friedrich because she fell in love with him. They were like intellectual soulmates for each other. But because Louisa May Alcott had modelled Jo's character after her own and May died unmarried Greta Gerwig leaves the ending upto interpretation! In the ending of this movie its never clear wgether Jo married Friedrich or remained a spinster. Louisa May Alcott hated the ending of Little Women because she had to marry off Jo with Friedrich becasue of the pressure of her publisher which is shown in the movie as well!
"They're not empty!" I really love Jo and Friedrich together, I liked how they left it up to the audience whether they officially got together or not.
Was any of this real?
Why? It guts the story and leaves Jo in the awkward position of being independent but incredibly lonely as opposed to what actually happened in the story where she does end up with the professor and they start a school together which is the setting for the sequels Little Men. I think the issue is they really wanted to do a biography pic of Louisa May Alcott and settled for changing the story she wrote to try and line it up with her life. It was not a good decision.
The way he said "My hands are empty" melts my heart>>>>>>>>
