In MN, I think you have to bring the fish to shore to clean as well. A lot of the bigger fisheries have tighter limits and they don't want people cleaning the fish, eating them and then taking another limit.

Nolan Roode Ignorant too. Those dumbass laws cause a huge loss of revenue to the rest of the state because they chase fisherman out of state. Its dumb shit like this that makes people not want to visit ohio.
@Dani Masterson I agree and lead is not allowed in some places. However I don't understand what this has to do with the $90.00 fine the guys received for eating fish while out on the ice.
Yes... in NY (I'm an Upstate NY resident) for walleye, black bass, brook trout, lake trout or Atlantic salmon.. you're not allowed to dismember and alter them whatsoever... its because they need to be recognized... You are allowed to gill and gut them though. You're allowed to do it to other species but skin still needs to be intact.
I agree with @BigWapiti. If you are going to release a fish, please do not do a gill grab. The fish probably will not survive. Releasing a fish is a nice sportsmanship gesture---just don't gill grab. Thanks for the share @BigWapiti
I agree with BigWapiti. Releasing a fish is a great sportsmanship gesture. Please do not do a gill grab, because the fish may not survive. Thanks for the share BigWapiti.

They didn’t look like they were in great shape, though. Not that I’m an expert or anything. They seemed to keep that first out out a while and they were both bleeding quite a bit. I’m happy to be wrong, here. Don’t think I’m condemning, necessarily.
Jakob Sime that’s 100% right. Also any with citric acid also stops bleeding. Pour some mt. Dew in the mouth and u can see it happen in front of your eyes. The citric acid contracts the capillaries thus stopping the bleeding.
Sadly, the law is right to an extent, I think. I can't find anything about not being allowed to cook on the ice. Seems like a bit of a stretch. Idk. If they specifically said your ticket was due to you eating them when you shouldn't, I'd fight it. They were fishing for some tickets at that point. Pun completely intended. However, next time, keep carcasses in maybe a trash bag,so the law can check it and apply towards your limit. The carcass should be easy to exhume from a container of some sort. Rough go tho. $90 is a stretch
Roger Ergang is unlawful for any person to possess a fish in any form or condition other than whole while on or when unloading the fish from a boat, while wading, or while fishing from shore on any waters in this state where a fishing license is required.
Roger he problem is that without this law guys can skin as many fish as they want and eat 3x the limit, then slide the illegal skins down a hole. Sure they can keep out the limit of skins for "proof" but how can you tell how many someones eaten and slid back in a hole.
Oh I understand and respect the law, but there will always be people breaking it regardless. Not saying I would be one to do that, but at least with my experience with the DNR in Michigan, you rarely run into them. Obviously in this video, it was a little different, but on another day, someone could brake this rule and do whatever they want. Whether that's catching over the limit and cooking or what have you. Really it comes down to how effective the enforcement is, which props to OH DNR in this video for making it happen.
I see. When he switched to the scene at the end sitting in his truck & said "This was the last video for this outing" ( or something like that ) I assumed "that was that" and left the video too early. Ooops.
Beastbassing...........LOL.......I stand corrected. When he switched to sitting in his truck at very near the end & said "This is the final video for........." I knew that there was no more footage out on the ice....so I assumed he was only going to discuss future videos, and obviously I left too early. I'm not subbed to this channel, and I only watch some of his videos that I think I may like. Oh well.......no biggie.
I know there big on lake Erie, but I just pulled a 10 1/2 pounder out of the Saginaw River in Michigan 4 days ago. And you're allowed to keep 8 fish at 13 inches in my neck of the woods

It's seems game wardens always check guys with out of state plates first....as far as helpful game wardens.....the ones I've met in North Dakota hunting would willing guide me to the Deer they were always straight and forward; but they would enforce the laws without hesitation.......nice fish caught; but poor release techniques.
if something is unclear give the DNR a call and write down the name of the person you talked to and what date and keep that info with you in the field. If nothing else it shows that you tried to seek a better understanding of the law.
what are you using for sonar?
Damn he left u hangin for mins lol
I miss fishing on Erie. Use to destroy perch north of the break wall at dead mans turn. Can't believe you guys are catching these walleye, I'm excited just based on how excited you guys are.
A lesson learned about cleaning and cooking the fish on the ice. I didn't know that, now I do. Expensive lunch!
I'd fight that one to the supreme court -- that's BS -- and I live in Ontario -- as long as you track your limit -- food is food ..
Agree, you caught your meal but the Government doesn’t want you eating it just yet
What kind a flasher you got?
You look like the Chicago bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky
He does! LOL... that's awesome.
What fishfinder are you using?
He freeks out so I think it's a monster and then they measure it and it's 26 😂
Eddie Breunig that is a pretty large fish, but maybe not for this lake
great video! lots of negative comments for a couple guys having fun! I'm heading up to Erie tomorrow for four days of ice fishing with an old buddy as well. pretty much the same setup! this video has me pumped. thanks
Dumbest law ever.
Nolan Roode Ignorant too. Those dumbass laws cause a huge loss of revenue to the rest of the state because they chase fisherman out of state. Its dumb shit like this that makes people not want to visit ohio.
So this law is to stop eagles from lead poisoning? Who filets fish and leaves the lure and sinker in the carcass? I call BS on that.
@Dani Masterson I agree and lead is not allowed in some places. However I don't understand what this has to do with the $90.00 fine the guys received for eating fish while out on the ice.
What sonar where you using?
Same law I believe here in Florida! Minus the ice! This was an awsome series Chris! Tight lines my friend!👊💥
I live in Ontario and this guy is correct about the DNR being strict.

Every time I toon in to your vids....I’m never disappointed!!!! Thanks for the content man!
Just doing their job is what they said in Germany in 1941
mark kirkland - You are in serious need of a history lesson.

Little different to give someone a ticket than to gas a whole bunch of children
LMAO.
Hey Cody, the crazy shit didn't start until roughly 1941.
Why did u release the big walleye?
Now I'm confused, ya'll fishing in a small grey shanty, but were in a huge blue dome shanty eating.
Law needs $money$ anyway they can get it
Yes... in NY (I'm an Upstate NY resident) for walleye, black bass, brook trout, lake trout or Atlantic salmon.. you're not allowed to dismember and alter them whatsoever... its because they need to be recognized... You are allowed to gill and gut them though. You're allowed to do it to other species but skin still needs to be intact.
Reminds me of the zander
brummyfishing they are related!
i live in NE ohio and a half mile from the lake and south winds are the absolute worst, the winds can drop real feel 15-20 degrees
Hands in the gills and then release. mmmk.
I agree with you. Releasing a fish is a good sportsmanship gesture. Just don't do a gill grab, because the fish probably will not survive. Thanks for the share BigWapiti.
Sorry, UA-cam'erz---my browser has been messing up today
What is the name of the vexilar/fish finder he uses?
Its a fine law keeps people from cooking there limit than getting more
Its pretty simple just leave the bones and head. Problem solved. What were allowed to do on simcoe up here in Canada.
Ya cooking and eating what you catch should be illegal but giving out Foodstamps is compassionate.
BS the DNR suck and are just tax collectors.
Hey Chris when I went up last Saturday the south winds were still there but the ice was thin so yea
Revenue building at its worst. Department of Natural Revenue = DNR. I'm sure everyone feels so much safer. No victim but extorted for $90.
Chris, What fish finder were you using?
Needed a Mexican ID so could ignore the fine.
Racist fuck
we all hope you fall through the ice ryan
funny as hell, Sad but true.
Jonathan Felipe it’s not racist, if it’s true.

Good job fellas letting those big hens go. I'm proud of ya!
They didn’t look like they were in great shape, though. Not that I’m an expert or anything. They seemed to keep that first out out a while and they were both bleeding quite a bit. I’m happy to be wrong, here. Don’t think I’m condemning, necessarily.
He jammed his fingers in their gills, dead for sure. You can grab them like that but you have to be careful not to touch their gills.
Your friend probably killed that walleye it was bleeding so much
Cambren Sievert no he just touched the Gills probably won't die but it's still not good handling.
It swam right down on the sonar
When fish go back in the water they stop bleeding almost instantly
god damn it josh
Jakob Sime that’s 100% right. Also any with citric acid also stops bleeding. Pour some mt. Dew in the mouth and u can see it happen in front of your eyes. The citric acid contracts the capillaries thus stopping the bleeding.
what is the name of the big blue tent?
Does that fish have huge tumors on it's side.
Looked like lamprey marks to me the great lakes are full of them

You can eat your fish on the Ice here in Minnesota, so long as you count them as part of your bag limit
Jason Smidl well good to know there good sir. Even though I will never fish in Ohio haha
Completely agree, it's sad that laws like this have to be implemented because a handful of low lifes ruin it for the rest of us.
I know this is an old video but does anybody know where i can find a locator like that?
like this
Hahaha !
Martin Vize didn't get me I always check how long the video is before I click a timestamp
Thank you
Starburs t same
Martin Vize Laughing out loud now!
Dang you guys killed it!!!
What's up with the CLICK-BAIT VIDEO TITLE. No one was "cited by the DNR" in this video. Is this how you roll?
Howabouthetruth its at the end of the video child.
Watching only part of the video IS THIS HOW YOU ROLL
