- The amazing Sia performing "Oh Father" live to music industry professionals at Michele Clark’s Sunset Sessions event at La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad California.
Sunset Sessions and Sunset Sessions Rock events are exclusive Music Industry festivals/conventions that have been turning music industry professionals onto new music and new artists since 1998. It was created and produced by the legendary Radio Promotion Indie Michele Clark who’s been responsible for launching the careers of thousands of artists - many with the help of her Sunset Sessions events.
Most showcases were not memorialized in any way (except in the successes of the artists who played them & the music industry who loved them). Of the videos that were made, only a small fraction have ever been made available to the public… yet (as of 2023).
Performances are intimate and unique... once in a lifetime-type experiences... interviews, listening parties, acoustic sets, poolside performances, etc.

I was there that evening in 2011, when Sia sang this song! The room was silent and all attention toward Sia, i experienced lots of goosebumps. It was her raw voice and a piano, simple but beautiful. I will never forgot that night, it was truly special. I'm glad she overcame her addictions!!

I love Sia & I am 1 of Madonna’s biggest fans & I have been to every Madonna tour I was lucky enough to see Madonna perform “oh father“ live on her 1990 “Blonde Ambition Tour” that you can see her perform it on UA-cam on her “truth or Dare Tour” documentary.

this is such an amazing, sad song that I can truly truly relate to as a little boy & into my teens thank God in my mid-20s my dad and I became best friends but being a gay kid with a brother who is younger than me that was the athlete I always felt in the shadows and that my father loved my brother more and I was nothing more than a paperweight in my family until I was older & my dad (RIP) became inseparable BUT for me this song so is hard to listen to because it brings back all those memories but it is truly one of my favorite songs by Madonna & it’s an incredible song along with everything else on Madonna’s 1989 album “ like a prayer”

When people cover Madonna especially her ballads I usually don’t care for them bc they usually can’t capture the same emotion (i.e. Lana for You Must Love me). Sia killed it, and I can’t think of anyone more fit to redo this song. The arrangement on the album sounds very diff than Madonnas but it somehow really works.

One of Madonnas most sad and beautiful underrated tracks.
As amazing a vocalist as Sia is it still cant touch the beauty of the way Madonna emoted these lyrics. I would love to hear Sia do this again now that she is unclouded by her past demons
Though Sia has a way more interesting vocals, The QUEEN OF POP received the crown for a reason. Madonna version is pure beauty and I can't choice "a better" version between them too, but, if I really had to I'd pick Madonna's.

I wanted to love this as it's one of madonna's most personal record and the one I feel with the most passion with capabilities of making me cry every single time of the meaning behind it especially as the same feeling I too have towards my father.. not only that I grew up in madonna era from her very first single to now with her bring 65.
But this unfortunately I just can't seem to engage with..I don't feel any feeling when hearing it and usually Sia signing anything is a must have but not this..sounds like slurring of words and mispronounciation. I do think just think once I can't imagine anyone singing it in a way that would interpret what i feel when I hear it other than madonna herself because what she has wrote could be a diary entry into my life.. I had no idea why my rather was so cruel and his words once had a power and I never felt good about myself ..but he's gone now. I shall leave him in history right along with this song.

I find her off putting ever since I found out about the movie music and how her attitude towards those of us with autism is. And her creepy grooming towards cast member of dance moms Maddie Ziegler. It's just wrong. Sia and I are the same age almost exactly ,.,47 and ready just turned 18 but she's been having Maddie over to her house for sleepovers where she shares her bed with her for so many years it's kind of creepy. Inappropriately so. She said she's her godmother but they share a bed that's weird. Now she lives with her and Maddie's boyfriend. I don't even want to get into the fiasco at the movie music was involving neurodivergent people and how poorly Sia reviews and treats us. But the grooming? Eeeew.
