Remember when Sonic 06 was literally beaten to death for over a decade for being an unfinished, buggy game, and was literally bashed so bad it made it profitable to trash other Sonic games for no reason other than “06 = bad, so Sonic must = bad,” because that was such a extreme oddity at the time?
Because back then once a game shipped that was pretty much it, you couldn't really push updates after launch (it wasn't strictly impossible but it often cost more time, effort, and money than was worth it, especially regarding console titles). So you had to fix every bug you possibly could before launch or else they would just be in the game forever. Nowadays due to live services and digital releases games can be updated after the fact with little hassle. This means games are released earlier, at a point when they're playable rather than fully polished, and then the polishing and final bug fixes happen in the weeks after launch. This actually is _better_ a lot of the time, since the entire public playing the game is a great stress test for multiple different hardware and software configurations, which leads to those games actually having less bugs after that month or so of polishing than it would if the game had just released a month later. Of course, this sometimes backfires and you get games that it turns out needed a lot more than just a few weeks of further development, but a lot of the time you just gotta wait like a bit. That said, with this game in particular that isn't an excuse. A lot of the issues with this game aren't unintended glitches or strange behavior, it's just poorly made. Like those low framerate walking guys, that's either that their walking animation is just unfinished, or the model itself is a placeholder that was never swapped out. That's not a bug, that's just poor development.
@@ClonedGamer001 thank you for that balanced explanation; it is a shame that this process has become the standard, but it was also inevitable. No Man’s Sky certainly would never have gotten its second wind without the existence of post-release updates.

This is one of THOSE videos that is just a CLASSIC. Always makes you laugh, and the first time you watched it made you laugh so hard that you were happy for the rest of the hour.
The fact that Gollum is 60 bucks and came out this year and Middle Earth: Shadow bundle featuring Shadow of Mordor *and* Shadow of War is 70 bucks with both games coming out in 2014 and 2017 respectively and both older games are substantially better just goes to show that people don't know what they are doing now.
It was so crazy when Spoiler!!!!: When gollum ate 5 pounds of gunpowder and uranium to turn himself into a bomb then threw himself at Gandalf as hard as he could. Truly the game of the year
There's something enjoyable about watching the funny shovel man absolutely abuse a creature close to intelligence and longevity as a scout but not feel forced to do so

However unlike 06, I doubt this game will ever have a dedicated enough fan base willing to remaster it
Maybe if we bully people for making good games that’ll become common too
It’s pretty much standard now for a full priced game to be released unfinished.

Damn I can't believe Soundsmith quit TF2 permanently to become a full time Gollum streamer
The fact thT the voice actor for Riki in Xenoblade chronicles does Gollum here is such cursed knowledge
Riki still have outstanding debt to villagepon 😔

Devs only work on the game. They have very little power in the monetization of the game. Higher-ups are the cause of those shitty DLCs, not the devs.
