criminally underrated and overlooked
One of my favorite characters from back in the day.... I actually really like absorption based powers ..I.e. The Absorbing Man, Bishop, Kevin Levin...

Maverick is straight bad ass
I remember picking up X-Men #5 from the corner store back when I was a kid and seeing this character for the first time. I REALLY liked the character design for Maverick and equally enjoyed learning about his shrouded past with Wolverine and the Weapon X project. Jim Lee did an outstanding job with this one!
I also remember picking up X-Men # 5 from a local comic store when I was living in Philly,the Lee artwork was GREAT.Sorry,I'm a big fan of Lee's artwork.And,like you I enjoyed the character design for Maverick.
Maverick was a great character but like always,a character gets handed off to writers that don't really care about the story and falls off. A big problem for the X-Men at the time.
Yeah fox studio's fawked the Xmen characters up so bad. I hated all the movies.

@@KelDeleon Yes, I loved Jim Lee's entire X-Men run. The Omega Red storyline would make a great movie also. With Jubilee and Gambit as backup.

I don't know why but I have ALWAYS been very attached to this character. I only read 2 comics with him in them...possibly only 1 .I remember a flash back scene of Wolverine, Sabertooth, and Maverick being confronted with Omega Red (for the first time I think?)
The 3 of them had to jump from a skyscraper to the streets below to escape and there was a dispute over killing some chick...think they were trying to save or abduct her ?
The only other scene in my head is Maverick in a short fight with Wolverine and putting the barrel of his gun against the eyelid of Wolverine asking if his eyelids had Adamantium in them. That's it I think but if was apparently enough.
maverick was the only weapon X subject that didn't go feral like wolverine or sabertooth.
Cool character very much underrated

So funny. In the X-Men animated series.. Wolverine always got beat up.. All he did was flash his claws and talk tough..

His primary attack is too bloody. He really could only successfully attack robots.
He would always do a growl before attacking a human just to get zapped or knocked away.
Maverick is the coolest. Got his entire series back when It came out.

Currently (as of X-Force 34 and 35) Maverick leads a group of space criminals called the Mercs. They were security detail on Beast's secret space prison before Mav tells Beast off and steals a space ship.

There is no tpb sadly. In 97 there was a 12 issue series that one can pick up in dollar bins still.
Most recently, in the Wolverine series issues 8,9, and 10, and he's been popping up ever since.
I Totallt forgot this guy existed though watching the video i do recall a bit. Looked up this video as i bought 2 old board games that came with 18 x men figures each. x men under seige. He was in one of the game sets i think switched out for longshot in the other
In Wolverine and the X-Men, Maverick has a daughter named Cristy Nord, who has geokenisis.
They actually gave them a happy ending in this one.

Your wrong on the Wolverine origins movie. They split Maverick into 2 characters the guy you showed Zero and the black guy with the cowboy hat. In the movie he is called Maverick.

This character wasn’t in the X-men movies. A different character was used in the terrible X-origins movie for Wolverine. Sliver Fox, and Sabertooth were in the movie but not Maverick.
Zero is Maverick, Maverick is Zero.
He was in X-origins under the name Zero. The race swap throws a lot of people off.
I though Will.i.am's character was Maverick. I wanna say he calls him Mav when they go to question Blob

Maverick was interesting for all of five issues in the '90s. He would eventually become a poorman's Domino, minus anything cool.

MY STORY IDEA SUGGESTION FOR SOMEONE TO USE TO MAKE NEW COMIC-BOOKS:
I imagine in a different realm, some things played out the same for the alternate Maverick, but in this realm his offspring survived, and it was removed from the belly of his dead wife.
In addition I imagine that the baby of his was placed in a very special type of chamber in order to keep it alive, and then much later when the baby grew big enough the baby was released from the chamber.
