    The part where Anderson looks across the city to all the other towers and looks back is criminally under rated. All this chaos and bloodshed is just one of hundreds of towers. As many said it's just another Tuesday for Dredd and only now Anderson starts to realize this

      YES! thank you. I also love this part and think its very overlooked. It emphasizes that this entire world...this entire future is just one big neverending nightmare. The entire day has been absolute horror for Anderson...she wasnt prepared for brutality and carnage of this magnitude...and she looks over the city and it sinks in that everything is like this...Peach Trees is only one of an endless number of towers where things like this or even worse things happen every single day. It feels hopeless.....and then she looks back at Dredd and somehow...Dredd still just keeps on going no matter what to stand against it all in this hopeless world.

      Dredd did say that over 17,000 violent crimes get reported and that the Judges can only respond to around 6% of them.

      @@DiamondDeadI think that's the point of stories like this. That no matter how insurmountable the comprehensive mountain of injustice seems, all anyone who cares can do is keep chipping away at it, wherever and however they can, until the day comes when they physically can't anymore. At that point, if the mountain is still there despite it all, one can at least look back on their life and know that they helped.

    Whichever structural engineer designed that building did a really good job. A full quarter of the structure was heavily damaged and the building showed no signs of listing or collapse.
    Respect.

    • @DashingSteel
      @DashingSteel 6 місяців тому +67

      I think the engenius part of its construction is that only the shell of the building was nigh indestructible. All the resources were poured into insuring it's invulnerability to the nuclear bombs and all the actual housing within was built cheaply and tightly to house as many people as possible.
      None of the buildings that were destroyed by the fire were essential to structural integrity which perfectly illustrates the theme of the setting - the worst enemies of Megacity One are those that come from within.

    I love how Dredd vanishes back into the darkness.
    He made sure Ma-Ma saw what he was doing, but went back to work.
    Also, I love the contrast in this scene. Ma-Ma is at the peak of her power. Running 3 miniguns for a long time, killing anyone she can just to get to Dredd and Anderson, but Dredd comes back and throws her First Officer off the ledge like it was just another perp.
    The camera pans away from her in such a way that clearly indicates that she knows it’s over, and Dredd won’t be beaten. She threw her best weapons at him-a display of power not feasible for a small-time drug lord. And she lost.

    One of the most badass scenes in the entire movie.
    And Dredd throws the guy off the balcony and disappears like the fucking boogeyman.

    Gotta underscore how cold the end of this scene is: That wasn't just some random henchman #14 there -- that was like her lead, right-hand man for her whole operation. Dredd just casually throws him off the balcony to his death like he's a bag full of garbage being tossed in a dumpster. Doesn't stand there to gloat or do some epic staredown or anything, just tosses out the trash, turns around and just immediately gets back to work like it's nothing to him. COLD AS FUCK.

  • @SRFriso94

    It's a good contrast, Dredd throws the henchmen over the edge and walks away, not sparing MaMa a second glance, because he knows this is how it works. For Anderson, looking over and seeing the other megablocks, it's a revalation to her that things probably aren't much better in there. So even if they do kill MaMa, to her it's disheartening to know that it wouldn't make much difference in the grand scheme of things. A subtle touch that definitely raises this movie's level above mindless action flicks.

    Jesus, imagine just wiping out entire families like that and not caring, just to bring down a couple of judges. Even if the judge didn't survive all that, how in the hell was she going to explain to the authorities, the sheer magnitude of damage she's done?
