- For centuries, the ancient group known as the Yao people faced discriminated from more powerful groups,, so never left the mountains of China. But in modern China, they are celebrated as one of the 55 ethnic minority groups---and their lives are celebrated in some wonderful music. Emily Zhou plays a Chinese classic, The Dance of the Yao People.
The music is soothing my soul👍
Keep doing what you are doing... introducing music, culture and the many ethnic groups living in many regions in China.
I enjoyed your podcast too. 😊
Fascinating bit of insight into a culture almost forgotten. And good on China to remember them to the modern word.
Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful music, good video, Greetings from Norway
Thank you Emily for your performance. You are a very accomplished artist.
Beautiful! That music has a similar sound to American Appalachian mountain music. The movements have similar keys & time signatures.
Very nice, was getting the "chorus" melody, very like a reflection in a pond.💦
So much for Ethnic Suppression.
Beautiful. 🙏
More culture. more arts and where we can see art music performance please...
Interesting story, very informative, and nicely played. However, as I'm a big fan of Moyun (@Moyun Official), I was - while watching - wondering how it would sound if she were to make a cover of it.
Yao people in the US, Southeast Asia are also known as Mien or IU Mien.
Heavenly!
Unexplainable reaction to have goosebumps upon listening to this first time, and I don't even play any musical instruments.
🙂🙏👍🙏
I thought recent "Yunnan big brother can't control" disco dance move from China has been started spreading into the world just as seen in tiktok.. 😂😂
