Sun Visor Removal on 2012 Chevy Sonic

- When trying to remove the passenger side sun visor on my daughter's car, I removed the obvious screws, but could not figure out what was holding it in place after that. This video is to show others with the same problem what is hidden above the head-liner. I admit that after installing the replacement visor, I did not test my theory. It does appear that it you may need a shorter screw driver to actually try this method because of where it is mounted. At least you will know what you are dealing with.
This video is 100% reason why if I could only visit one web site it would be UA-cam! Thank you, sir, for posting this- it was truly the difference between an easy repair and a long, frustrating, curse-filled afternoon.
Thank you very much. 5 Years later and you are still helping others.
It appears that these visors all break the same way.
I removed mine, prior to watching your video. It was very difficult and by the grace of God, nothing broke. Now, removing the other visor should be easy.
My driver side visor broke into pieces. The white part didn't come out with the rest of the old visor so I was trying forever to snap it together while it was still in the roof under the ceiling liner. Turns out I was lining up the holes incorrectly and rotated the new visor so it aligned sticking out across the driver side window. Then it snapped together very easily. Thank you for posting this video! Still helpful 3 years later for my 2014 chevy sonic.
Saved my life!!! I broke the visor forgetting my visor has a light after the stress of watching 200 videos. You got me out of this situation the best way possible 🙏🙏
Thank you! I don't know how mine broke either. Cheap plastic parts
My visor broke in the exact same way! Thanks for posting this; now I can finally repair mine.
Thank you. Have a 2016 Chevy Sonic that the sun visors broke in the same way. This really saved me a lot of time and frustration.
Thank you so much for this video! My visor broke in the same exact spot. I got the screws loose and had no idea why it wasn't coming down. This was such a huge help!
Thank you Sir, for taking the time to make this video, as you can see many others and myself are very thankful... this was truly a good deed.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼
Thank you for this video. You made it easy for me to replace the sun visor myself.
You've saved the day again! Thank You very much. Total cost for this repair aprox. $20.00 which includes the new visor. Tools used torx T-10 and one short skinny flat blade screwdriver and a little patience.
I'm glad it helped. I must admit though... I'm jealous of your cost. Sounds like you got a great price on your replacement visor!!!
@@marusak4 Ebay my friend. Wife says Thanks also.
PERFECT..... 4 years later and you saved me from destroying the whole mount 😂appreciate it!
God bless you for taking the time to make this video!
Thank you for your video, it was extremely helpful. Without your video i would have cause damage to the headliner or paid the dealer a crap load , Thank you once again
Thank you dude, I’ve had to do this twice by now, (driver and passenger side) and this is the video i used both times!
Sir, thank you so much for posting this!
I had to replace the whole assembly in my 2012 Chevrolet Aveo (European Sonic) and this saved me so much time!
Thanks so much for the video. Because of your video it took me less than 5 minutes to replace the visor.
Thank you. I had to replace my driver’s side and your video made it super easy.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! EVERYONE ELSE HAS DIFFERENT CONNECTIONS AND I WOULD’VE GIVEN UP IF NOT FOR YOU
Thank you so much, my sun visor did the exact same thing. I'm replacing it now and came across the same snag you did. This video helps so much!!
Bro you are a freaking legend. You just saved my butt. Thank you.
Great post! No fault of ur daughter. Mine is a work car and I use it to once and awhile.
Thanks buddy! Was scared to break the inner bracket and this helped
Thank you so much for posting this video!!!! Complete life saver. Thanks again from Texas.
Hit the same snag trying to replace the visor for my Sonic, but this video was very helpful in helping me figure out how to detach the damn thing! You're right about those hooks! Much appreciated!
THANK YOU SO MUCH. NO OTHER WEBSITE EXPLAINS HOW TO REMOVE. CC
Both of mines broke, for no good reason. Must be a defect. Thanks for the video. I am going to replace both myself
Thank you for your video, it helps me a lot and i was able to change both of my visor easily. Chevy dealership asked for 115 dollars just for labor to change it...omg...i save $$$.
Between your video and a Torx-10 tip, worked beautifully. Thanks.
Bless you!! It worked for my 2016 LTZ.
You’ve helped a lot of lost souls…myself included 😂
Both my visors broke in the same place and were hardly used. Dealer wanted $225.00 plus tax just for the 2 without Installation. I ordered both online for $49. Plus tax. That is 2 visors, total price $49 plus tax. Will install tomorrow.
Thanks. It saved me a lot of trouble!!
THANK YOU! been dreading trying to just rip it out was about to Dremmle it so thank you for saving me form that 😁❤️🙏
Thank you so much.. i could have torn off the "ceiling" of my car just to peek what's holding this cheap plastic in place if not the torx screw. ALLELUYAH!
Good stuff! The only thing I added after popping those two side clips is pulling slightly down on the side opposite the large arrow lock and sliding the arrow lock towards the center hole. Came right out! Thanks, again. I have an LTZ-so much for higher trim options 🤦🏻♂️.
Sanity saving video...thank you!!!
Thank you so much man.
Really helpful video.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video, it was very helpful 🤜🏽💯🤛🏽😎❤🙂
Thanks :) im really appreciate the info. My visor broke exactly the same.
Thank you!!! This was a tremendous help!!
For some dumb reason Chevy Sonic visors they get worn out. Chevy always tries to go with cheap parts but when the consumer needs to replace parts OMG comes out expensive. Thank you sir for the tip.
I agree with you. Before reading all the comments on this video, I attributed my daughter's broken visor to carelessness and nothing more. Now that I see how many people had the same problem, I believe the issue was due to poor materials rather than excessive force.
Thank you for sharing and saving me a lot of money. God bless you
Thanks dude. It really helped out. Not the same car but the same type of clip.
YW. What kind of vehicle was it (so others might benefit as well)?
You rock!! Thank you for the video both of my visors broke at the same point! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thank you 🙏
Thanks!! Big help!

Mine just broke ,do you have to go into head liner?
No you DO NOT have to go into the head liner.
These Sonics cut so many corners. It’s really ridiculous.
Every helpful
