Wow. Okay. I was not expecting that phone call at the end to hit me as hard as it did. I lost my mother to Covid back at the start of this crisis. I didn't even know she was sick, because she was doing exactly what the character here was. I was doing exams for my Masters, and she didn't want me to worry. So she didn't tell me. She didn't call when I missed a week without checking in. She knew I was busy, and didn't want to intrude. That weekend, after my exams were done, I didn't call her because I was too burned out and just needed some time. I didn't know. By the time I called her that Monday, it was already too late, and I had missed the last chance I will ever have to talk to her. I haven't even been able to travel back to see my family, since I've been stuck in Ireland this whole time. My birthday is in a few days. This will be the first time in my life I don't get a card from her in the mail, or a phone call over dinner. I don't have many friends, and I'll likely be spending the day alone. I wish she had told me what was happening. I wish I had made that call and told her to just go to the hospital. I wish I could just hold a funeral for her. But I can't. I would climb any mountain in the world to get a chance to speak with her again, and I never will. Please, everyone. Make sure the ones you love know that you care, and tell them when things go wrong. It's better they're worried than to find out they should have been once it's already too late. I've been coming back to this video time and time again ever since it was first released. Everything about it is charming, and it helps me reflect on where I currently am in life when things go bad. Honestly, there are a lot of things here that I wish to aspire to be. The one that always deeply resonates with me and one that I remember the most is the artist. As an art major, there have been many nights where I was anxious of the coming morning, of what people want from me. It's far too easy to lose track of creating for myself and not for others, cause in the end, what we do for ourselves inspires the ones that come after us. A continuous cycle of inspiration. I had never heard of this game so when I got the email from Twitch that RT was streaming "a short hike," I thought Dan was going to bring along the audience on an irl hike & see some nature. But this is great too
I bought this game when I lost my dog. I was grieving pretty deeply because the way I lost him was very traumatic. I literally bought myself a Nintendo switch and then this game and couple other chill easy games just to get my mind off of him. So now this game forever will remind me of that dark time I was in, but with that said, I am also very grateful for this game because it was my little way of grief therapy.
Tbh i feared it was another hidden horror game, but it was not. From the vid it seems like it is about how to reach satisfaction in life itself; you set a goal, as small as it may be and you try to acomplish it, and along the way you have fun. And at the End when you rech the peak; you can glide down and remember what all happened; how you cam up there and the fun you had and friends you met. You land back to the roots and with a happy tear go back from where you once came. Beautifull
DDLC was an interesting game but it has a lot to answer for when it comes to making people paranoid of adorable games. I was watching I think it may have been Game Grumps try to play Tiny Bird Garden, which is an incredibly chill game about befriending tiny birds, and every time something unusual happened they started screaming because DDLC had made them so paranoid.

I love that the point of this game is that you go to an island to get away from your stresses for a while. And that's exactly what this game does for the players
I’m not even a gamer and I loved this game. Stress free exploring, but plenty to do so it stay interesting. Cute story and really no way of messing up. The map felt very big too and I genuinely just loved the vibes of exploring such a cute island.
The artist Interactions really resonate with me. I've been doing art for years and I plan to make it my job when I'm older, but the crippling burden of wanting peoples validation and love for your art piece gets so overwhelming at times, and having mental health issues doesn't really help me with that hunger for validation and the longing to feel ok with my creations. I can't tell you how many times I've doubted my dream, but.... it makes me happy. Art, Songs, Games, ETC... they all bring me joy. and honestly..... I don't think I would see my adulthood without them. so, I'm just really happy that I got to where I am, even if it sucks ass right now for me, and many other people for that matter- if I didn't have what I did today... I would be gone. so I really feel a connection to the artist and the yearning for validation and perfection in their art.

Wow, this story really resonates with me. A year ago my mom got in a skiing accident and needed surgery, that summer I went to a summer camp about 2,000 miles away in New Mexico. I was climbing a mountain when I got the news that my mom's surgery finished with no problems and there at the peak I got enough reception to get to talk to her.
I really love this game, I've been looking for something peaceful and chill for the Switch (that doesn't take place in real time) and this is exactly what I've had in mind.

DDLC was an interesting game but it has a lot to answer for when it comes to making people paranoid of adorable games. I was watching I think it may have been Game Grumps try to play Tiny Bird Garden, which is an incredibly chill game about befriending tiny birds, and every time something unusual happened they started screaming because DDLC had made them so paranoid.

It's amazing how the pixelated style was just the lowest graphics. Instead of looking like plain crap it actually feels like you're playing a ds game you bought for christmas.

When I saw this, I couldn't help but remember when we watch "paint dry". We sometimes love a work, not only for itself, but because a certain special someone did it, and it has emotionnal value added to it.
I think the crowning glory of this video is at the end, after all of this wholesome, beautiful stuff, the game decides to jump-scare you with the end-screen.

Thanks for showcasing this game! I've been following it since development and the recent boat update was fantastic. I urge everyone to play this game out, get all the hidden stuff, all the npc dialogue etc etc. It's an absolute gem of an indie game.

Watching this live was amazing! It has to probably be one of my most favourite streams ever. I was able to relate to some of the things in the game and the music was so beautiful. Also Rt playing the game made it too! I loved all the quips and I really appreciate how the video is a longer one too.
This game was so great. I am glad I took time to watch it. I am also glad that this video wasn't total chaos like a lot of the fans tried to make it. I am glad Daniel was able to bring it back and center it to just the game, and not anything that was out of place. Just enjoying it for itself. That's how I like people to enjoy games like this. One step at a time, not too worked up, like Animal Crossing. This game was beautiful, and I wish I could play it for myself.

I love that the point of this game is that you go to an island to get away from your stresses for a while. And that's exactly what this game does for the players
I’m not even a gamer and I loved this game. Stress free exploring, but plenty to do so it stay interesting. Cute story and really no way of messing up. The map felt very big too and I genuinely just loved the vibes of exploring such a cute island.
The artist Interactions really resonate with me. I've been doing art for years and I plan to make it my job when I'm older, but the crippling burden of wanting peoples validation and love for your art piece gets so overwhelming at times, and having mental health issues doesn't really help me with that hunger for validation and the longing to feel ok with my creations. I can't tell you how many times I've doubted my dream, but.... it makes me happy. Art, Songs, Games, ETC... they all bring me joy. and honestly..... I don't think I would see my adulthood without them. so, I'm just really happy that I got to where I am, even if it sucks ass right now for me, and many other people for that matter- if I didn't have what I did today... I would be gone. so I really feel a connection to the artist and the yearning for validation and perfection in their art.

Wow, this story really resonates with me. A year ago my mom got in a skiing accident and needed surgery, that summer I went to a summer camp about 2,000 miles away in New Mexico. I was climbing a mountain when I got the news that my mom's surgery finished with no problems and there at the peak I got enough reception to get to talk to her.
This game reminds me a lot of Night in the Woods, but more heartwarming and less dread-invoking.
