Jermaine Dupri spoke with VladTV about getting a taste for the music industry after going on tour with Whodini as a dancer at just 12 years old. He explained that he saw everything on that tour and even lost his virginity.
During the conversation, Jermaine cleared up rumors that his dad was a music executive that put him on, explaining that Columbia offered his dad a deal after Jermaine told him to start managing Kris Kross. I remember i use to see young jermain dupri in Kris kross videos thinking he was their hypeman until later I realised he wrote and produced their whole album...this guy talent is soo under rated. Very few producers can produce rap and rb albums and still sound impeccable.

Jermaine never got the recognition that he deserved, Puffy and Suge knight got far more recognition but Jermaine was Puffy before Puffy came out. I have a feeling this is going to be a very interesting interview, i hope Vlad asked Jermaine about the Puffy/Suge knight beef which resulted in Suge friend getting killing in or after a Jermaine Dupri Party in Atlanta.

I think the fact that his father was a music executive helped him learn the business so young, if you think about it.. Michael Maudlin put JD in a place to win and JD helped his dad win with the success of Kriss Kross. Let's not underestimate this man just because he was a teenager. He wrote those raps for Kriss Kross, Bow Wow, and Da Brat... He his special.
@@ddmcnac but lets not discount the role that daddy played in his success. JDs parents were able to provide him a tremendous amount of exposure and opportunities. Many would argue that success in the music business has nothing to do with talent. Success is more about who you know. JD was not at 12 years old hustlin his way to the top. His parents worked very hard to put their boy in position and build his brand. They were intimately familiar with how the music business works.

JD was kinda like an industry plant who happened to do a good job workin with daddy to make hit songs. Who knows if he did most of the production.
