Thanks for these tutorials Casmo. I've tried to stay away frm watching all tutorials as I can learn better when I'm sitting in the thing. I forget them in 5 mins after just watchng.
Wish ED would improve these (87/rockeye) effectiveness in MP. They're very unreliable. However having Burst Altitude and spin settings lets us tighten that spread up and thus make them much more useful. Same feature is needed for F16's JSOW CBU version. The 97s are monstrous though!
I don't think it's the bombs. While I agree rockeyes and cbu87s are worthless, it's because ED refuses to do anything even resembling reasonable damage models on ground units. Instead they uses a hit point system. You can't knock the tracks off a vehicle, or anything. The bombs are crap, but it's not the bombs fault I'd you know what I mean
One open point for CBU-s i am confused with is whether windcorrection is applied for the release point of the submunitions and on which datasources. In the A10 C II using CBU-105 which should be windcorrected, the submunitions drift away from the target. So there i think the bomb itself just uses GPS guidance to guide itself over the target, but does not take into account the wind to shift the releasepoint of the submunitions. Maybe this is not relevant for the bomblets of a CBU-87 or CBU-103, but surely for the CBU-97 and CBU-105
Within DCS they do not appear to compensate for submunition drift - which can be very frustrating. I looked but unsurprisingly haven’t found much about the guidance; I’d be surprised if real WCMD does try to compensate for submunition drift as it can only be a precomputed offset unlike bomb guidance which is continuous (and INS only, no GPS).
I will say It seems these CBU 97s release a little early or not quite over their target unless this is user error on my end. I had a detonate height at 1800 ft and it seemed the CBUs dropped or exploded before they got over my target/tanks. Most likely user error but who knows
I'm having the same issue - it looks like the bombs are flying towards the CDIP point, but bursting at the set altitude, which leaves the submunitions floating somewhat short. No idea what is actually supposed to happen - does the bombing computer compensate for the burst altitude? This has never been an issue for me with other planes so maybe.
You're pumping these tutorials out like there's no tomorrow recently. I can only assume the module could possibly be out like next week... if not, July 19 or even 26... well, it's too darn hot to fly (especially in VR) anyways if you don't have an ECS at home ATM :D PS: Piñata of Pain made me chuckle more than it probably should... **still giggling** PPS: Golden Rules Of DCS Module Releasing /101, taken straight from Wags' office: - Try to release on patch day - If that can't be met, aim for Flyday (pun intended) [so people will have to endure the bugs over the weekend without a possible hotfix] - Patch day typically is on When'sdays (pun intended) - Don't release during sales - Try to match sales with Steam sales [Steam Summer sale goes from June 29 to July 13]
I was trying CBU 97s today and could designate in the radar but hitting designate in the Tpod screen didn't work. It was the sensor of interest and I could see smoke on the desired target from someone else's bombing run.
So i have a bucket list of this to do if this beast ever gets released... bombing H3 airfeild, jettison the AAR door, and all that. @Casmo could you do a fuel door jettison in one of the videos?
I just can't seem to make these things hit accurately. They're way short or way long and seem to only deploy at the specified height above the actual designated point and then keep going. Is that accurate?
TY for video! Question coming from the hornet I could slave the pod to a waypoint through hsi . I mostly play PvE online . On the f15 are those waypoints listed I noticed I had 60 targets listed on tpod where you had yours listed . Hope this makes sense
When I try to select clusters bombs on the armament page, it doesn’t show the ordinances name on the pylon and it just says 6, so I can’t even use them, why?
calling CCIP 'CDIP' sounds like some sort of stupid patent/trademark/corporate-rivalry bullshit. Like McDDs decided they needed to distinguish their product in the F-15 from Republic/Fairchild's product in the A-10. Except that they called it 'CCIP' in the Hornet. I'd think it's an inter-service issue, except that the Air Force owns both the A-10 and the F-15. The only thing I can assume is it must have been some middle mangler on the F-15E software team with a personal bone to pick trying to make his resume stand out by Making Decisions and Innovating Terminology, which seems lie the sort of shit i'd expect from what i've heard aboit McDD's manglement culture.
Lol imagine a 4-ship dropping a full load of these things each at the same time.
That's why the allies won the gulf War, we killed the Iraqi frame rates with cbu drops. Lol
*Side show commences*

I think those settings do nothing in dcs

I can’t wait to fly this! I’m sure it’s going like drinking from a firehouse!
Casmo for Emperor!!
I will be fair but stern.

Same thing for me they fall a couple hundred meters short

LOL I totally wasn't aware of them launching even today. I've mostly been wrong on my guesses, but never in that direction! XD
And now, at the end, you understand.

Just put the WP number in the pod. Not sure about thru HsI.

Keep watching videos. It’s in there.

No, it's a different system lol
@@mobius7089 whats the difference between CDIP and CCIP?
