Considering these beauties for my 16' x 20' media room. Also just heard the Triangle Borea br08's. I know these are diffent in size, presentation, driver's, etc. What are your thoughts between the two? Much appreciated!
I've had my Lintons about a month now with plenty of hours on them. They have a very engaging sound in my system driven by a Rega Elex-R. Bass is nimble, mids and especially vocals open and transparent, and highs are fairly extended at least to my ears without calling attention to themselves. Not the end all in air, soundstage, or detail retrieval but their weaknesses aren't prominent or obvious. They just provide a nice mix of qualities that I never seem to tire of. I'm mainly listening to jazz, folk, bluegrass, classic rock, acoustic, and blues. If you are into metal, dance, hip hop, or classical then I can't vouch. Nice review!
I can vouch they work great for metal and classical. They give metal music that live garage feel that makes even some overly compressed recordings from 2000's manageable. Distortion guitars are especially nice, my brother is a metal guitarist (I also sang in a metal band) and he said, with this speakers he can easily distinguish the gear musicians use. Speed metal is a bit more challenging for Lintons and one needs to couple them with fast transparent amp to get it right. I'm a professional classical musician who works with orchestras and choirs and I compare the real sound with speakers every day. I can say the timbre and the way they attack the tones is as neutral as you can get for that budget - you definitely need a big speaker to imitate big instruments, even a human body. They are dynamic enough to give you shivers when symphonic fortes come in. Though imaging is not their strong note it works great for chamber music and feels natural - more smudged with large orchestras. It's more or less the same in concert halls - you can't distinguish position of each instrument, you just get coverd with a blanket of sound from all sides.
Great review; the most thorough on UA-cam. I've now had the speakers (and stands) for six months and love them. From jazz to rock to R&B, electronic, classical or folk, I've been impressed with how the Wharfedales handle every recording. Admittedly, they are a bit of a throwback to my childhood (I'm 50), so I suppose nostalgia is a factor. But they are quite nice.
I've had them for two months now and I agree completely. Including the nostalgia factor 😊 The Lintons & stands also look bigger on pictures than they are. They just stand there without drawing too much attention visually, which is a plus to me.
Thanks for the great review - Iv owned my Linton's for about 3 weeks now. They take a few hours to break in - and during that time you will just fall in love with them more and more.
Thank you so much for this review. It prompted me to give these speakers a try. I've had them for two months now and absolutely love them. I have rediscovered my music library because of them. Very impressed with their tonal and sound quality. Very easy on the ears so they allow for hours of listening with no fatigue. I'm about to upgrade my speaker wires to Tellurium Q Silver series in order to gain a bit more detail on the highs and get more punch on the bass but that's just me being finicky. One could easily live with the way they sound right now.
Great comments glad your happy and we can always live with it but its easier to live with when its that bit better haha :) glad I helped you all the best
I have them connected to a Lyngdorf amplifier with RoomPerfect and they sound fantastic. From highs to the lows, they are very balanced and with RoomPerfect, they image very good with a large and deep podium. They surprise me every time, given the price. They are way better than my KEF LS50 Wireless or my Focals Aria. They put music first, you just sit down, relax and enjoy.. with other speakers I'm always busy with the next step.. now this is over. Oh and my seventies and eighties records do finally sound good..
Thanks so much Terry. I keep coming back to your review for each time I do guides me to see or hear the best in this Linton speakers. It's my favorite next to Acoustic Energy AE500 I bought based on your reviews. And I'm very happy that I listened to you.
Hi, just wondering if you still have the Lintons and the Acoustic Energy AE500? I can’t decide which to get, either just the Lintons or the AE500 perhaps with a sub. Thanks.
I'm currently playing my Mid 90s Led Zep remasters disc on these speakers ( Not Audiophile just good music) and it sounds great. This is a speaker for people who like music and not into Audiophile Analytical tomfoolery 👍
I bought these speakers along with the Leak Stereo 130 amp & Leak Cdt a year back. I read somebody say that if you remove the rubber feet on top of the stands & use a tiny bit of blu tack it sounds better. I tried it and its true . My amp now sounds more powerful as a result
This review pulled me over to purchase them in combination with the audiolab 6000 set. After I heard them in real life, ofcourse. These are my type of speakers; going for tbe overall sound more than the presentation of the separate parts. And I love their looks.
Great review. Thx. I was curious about these speakers and bought a set about 6 months ago, with the stands of course. :-} I have been running a pair of Vienna Acoustics speakers, about 12K pair. I have been in love with those speakers and was shocked at how well the Lintons held up and in some cases I preferred with certain types of music. The Vienna Acoustics do produce a better image and do disappear in my room better, but the Lintons are a lot more fun to listen to and create a very large sound stage. I am powering them with Parasound JC1 monoblocks and the bass is exceptional. Better than my Vienna Acoustics for sure. In my book these are a keeper and a steal at their price point. I wont be getting rid of my Vienna Acoustic speakers for these. But I do like them both and will enjoy both for some time to come. I appreciate the thought you put into the review and I agree with basically everything you mentioned. Cheers!
Late to the party but thought I'd leave a comment to say fantastic review, very nice real-world discussion -- very valuable for music listeners who prefer not to get too bogged down into technical analysis (though of course that does have its value as well), cheers
i heard them today in my local Audio store,it's true that the vocals shine,so rich and present a bit forward maybe depends on the recording but overall fantastic,Bass was also very tight on the one record i put on a bit shy on the other which means this speaker plays what the amplifier feeds it and the quality of the recording itself
Nicely presented. I agree with everything you've said. I've heard the new classic JBL , the Linton's and the heritage series Klipsch and other re-issued but improved speakers of other classics. I think they all share several common threads. You hear the music and not just the speaker as opposed with newer high end tech sound. Secondly, they seem to have more energy throughout the music than high end costly speakers that seem to exaggerate the middles and highs, to give a better sound stage and internal seperation, but lack the joy of listening to the complete presentation as with the classic speakers that also offer good bass, that may not require a seperate bass driver, because the classic improved re-issued speakers such as JBL 100's, Klipsch Heresy and Wharfedale Linton's already have enough for most program material. That could be why one of the reviewers at Stereophile wanted to buy and take home a pair of Klipsch La Scalas that he reviewed, because of their musical presentation. What I'm really trying to say here is that in the pursuit of a little more clarity in the middles and highs and soundstaging in today's high end speakers, something is missing in the joy of just listening to the music instead of the speaker itself. Good review.
Very nice review. It's very detailed and grounded and I appreciate your approach to reviews. I've had these for a few weeks now and really enjoy them. After watching your review I discovered that I had the Left and Right speakers reversed. In my defense the only indicator I could find was a slip of paper in the packaging with L and R on them (may have not gotten packed correctly?). I did think it was odd when the logo was on the inside rather than the outside of the speaker. But then Brits do drive on the wrong side of the road. ;-p. This is my first HiFI system so take my comments with a grain of salt and I only have them paired with a Denon PMA-600NE. These sound fabulous with just about any genre of music I have put through them, except I find that 80/90/2000 harder rock music seems a little harsh through them. I could just be getting older too. This may be because the distorted guitars and vocals can all be focused in mid-range that these do so well. I am still playing around with sources so I may be able to tweak that out. But jazz, pop, classic rock, sound tracks all are amazing. I am with you on the bass. I could see myself getting a sub at some point just to fill in that little bit at the lower end but I am not in a hurry. Overall my impression of them is that they sound "effortless". Like they are just doing their thing with out a struggle.
I have owned these speakers now for around four weeks. I tested loads of speakers, and decided these were for me. They just get better and better the more i play them. I never get tired of these beauties, whatever music i play through them, i am amazed!!! From heavy metal, doom, punk and classical, they just handle it all with ease. I love them!!!!!!
First week with Lintons. Coming from Denton 80's it's certainly a natural sound I was looking for but better in all aspects. MUCH more dynamic and detailed, more open, coherent and still very capable of instrument separation - layering. I just haven't quite figured the positioning within my room limitations to get the best compromise between soundstage and imaging. I know I'll get there. Strangely I seem to get less reflections with bigger Lintons than with Dentons. I've filled stands with dark aquarium sand. Haven't noticed any change as I did that the day I got them. Had to tame the bass a bit with eq but I think I could maybe put it back to normal. They're becoming to sound less and less boomy as I put hours on them.
The machine gun like fire of the adverb "really" was suddenly disrupted at 12:52 with an alternative "extremely". What a shock! :-) Excellent content. Helped me to decide. Cheers!
Love mine. Cap update. Powering them w/ Primaluna Prologue integrated. Pretty nice & beefy. Added a pair of Aperion Super tweets to get a bit more sparkle. Nice full sound. Look so well built.
I was just about to pull the trigger. on a pair of these and your series of reviews sealed the deal. Thanks again for the work that you do to produced these well-executed reviews
Good review, but I feel that you have slightly underrated them. I have them and I truly love them. I have recently bought the Kef Meta's, which did absolutely nothing for me. The Revel M16 Concerto's, which I liked a lot. But the Linton's really float my boat in everywhere. I have them at the end of my Kef3 system, they work together really well.
Terry, the Linton Heritage are good speakers overall. You mentioned that you would have loved to pair them with the Luxman 509X. Now that is a gem of an amp. I actually did get to listened to the 509, but paired with Magico speakers. That was clean power delivered to truly epic dynamic speakers.
I still love my Linton 3XPs hopefully one day I will grab a set of these as they seem to be very much a modern interpretation of the originals from the way you describe them! So they are probably the perfect upgrade for me when I have saved enough pennies! :-)
J adore vos vidéos quand à moi-même je possède des wharfedale evo 4.2 et je suis agréablement surpris de leur grande finesse pour moi elles ont très bien placé sur le marché vue leur prix
Great review, appreciate it! I have one question to anyone reading this - is the Linton a good all-rounder? I listen to a wide variety of music (folk, classic rock, post-punk, hip-hop, mainstream pop, etc) and I'm wondering if they have the flexibility required. Most reviews only mention jazz and classical 😢
I would love to know how well these stack up to much more expensive 'heritage' speakers, the Klipsch Heresy IV or the JBL L100 Classics? I am very much swinging towards a larger boxier retro-style speaker. I would also like to know how they stack up against similarly priced mainstream speakers such as the Monitor Audio Silvers, Bowers & Wilkins and Wharfedale's own Evo tower model range. Be great if you could do some side by side direct comparisons. Also, I am looking to change my amp very soon from a solid state, Cambridge Audio 851W to a Cayin CS55A Valve amp. Did you try these speakers with valves and if so how well do you think they would suit valves? Thanks for great videos!
Very precise and enjoyable review. Thanks for that! Very nice experiment also, playing the Lintons live, so we can have a base. I'm lookiny for a pair for a while, if someone could tell a shop that ships worldwide, I'll highly apreciate. Regards!
Thank you very much for the great review. You english guys really know how to engineer fantastic sounding loudspeakers😉 My favorite speaker of all time, independently of price and size, is the Harbeth super HL5 plus. Beside the fact, that the Harbeth cost four times more, is the Linton close to the Harbeth? Greetings from Germany.
I just have my Lintons for a couple days. I am not sure about the HL5+ but they are crazy value, great involving sound and replaces my P3ESR for good. As a recovering audiophile I found it great for late night, mid-fi low volume listening compared to my P3ESR. However they have they downsides, to me it was the bass definition and the volume. It is simply too much to my tase. I also suspect these speakers are tuned more for the North American tase, pretty bass heavy in presentation, and they need space ! actually I think they a lot of space. ( I am listening them with port holes closed. ) Also I noticed lifting the upper mid, high as done at the video gives great improvement to the sound.
@@ernestohannya6080 thanks a lot for your evaluation. The frequency response shows a big bass humpback. So I think you are right, when you are saying, they need space. I have only max. 40 cm to the rear wall and no other possibility to put them somewhere else. So maybe the wharfedale Denton or Evo 4.2 would be the better choice for me.
@@ernestohannya6080 A better possibility is, to reduce the ports to around 1/3 of the diameter by using a foam - you don't loose the bass, you only level the humpback. I have done it with my left speaker because he is not far away enough from the sidewall - the bass was over 6 db louder than the other speaker. Make pipes with the foam that fills the complete lenght of the ports. It really works perfect and cost nothing.
I really like watching your presentations, you do your work in the most professional way and every moment is interesting. It's very nice to meet such an excellent connoisseur. I'm undecided between Wharfedale Linton and Evo 4.2, I would pair them with Yamaha amplifier AS 701 and Marantz Cd60. What are the speakers in your opinion more suitable for music, instrumental, Jarre, Vangelis, POP music,Ennio Morricone and music with a sharper rhythm, Like say Culture Beat Inside Out?Thank you and greetings from Serbia.
Thank you Terry for the 3 parts review on Lintons ! I have decided to get them. My 'problem' is with what amp I need to pair them. Due to budget limitations, I have ended up with Audilab 6000N or Marantz PM7000N or the Cambridge Audio CX-A81. Any ideas ? Thanks again.
If anyone - like me - wondered what is the song playin at 2:56 it's Wicked One by Velvet Moon What an absolute eargasm! Funny how it is almost a carbon copy of Fleetwood's Dreams that is shown at the exact moment in the vid :)
Thanks a lot mate for this great review! Excellent job as usual. Might buy them but I never got to hear them associated with an Advance A10 Classic amplifier (which I own) ? What do you think of this combination? Thank you again for your professional and passionated tone all along the videos.
Hi, now i have Dynaudio Emit 30's running by a Hegel H95. I know you love the Emit 30's too. But i'm really interested in these Lintons. What can i expect the most in differences between those speakers? Looks they are both at least good for long listening sessions without getting fatigue.. (i listen a lot to electronic music)
Greetings from France and thanks a lot for that review. I ordered a pair yesterday and would appreciate to know what minimal specs an amplifier should have to be able to drive the Linton...
These sound like my kind of speakers. The possible limitations in the sound stage wouldn't bother me because I'm hopeless at identifying where the different elements of the music are panning from. IUnless I've just never had the right system! I wish I'd been around at the time of mono.
just buyed these for adding to my 11.2 yamaha elac build

Nice review! Got them and like them a lot, their sound is precise but relaxed. I was debating about those vs the Evo 4.3. Any opinion on which you would prefer?
@@hclandscapes I ordered a pair to compare them to the Linton. I kind of know what to expect, but given that they are both almost the same price, I wanted to check *in my room and for my listening habits*, which one works best. If you'd like me to post my impressions here, let me know.
Hello Thanks for all these videos you do. I am witing for some building work to finish then i wish tomsort my hifi out. I had we armarked the evo 4.4 but listening to the demo and review the Linton's sound so much smoother and warmer which is what i like plus seem to separate the instruments better. These are now my bench mark. So what would you say a next step up would be from these please keeping the sound rich and warm In floorstanding speakers ? Say up to 2k or do u have to go higher price to beat the lintons
Thank you for the review. Beautiful pieces. I may have missed it in the description but I am guessing the set used in this video are in the walnut finish?
These also do sound beautiful in smaller rooms at lower volumes. Instruments & vocals sound clear & large with the Lintons.Keep them off the walls at 18".Type of music and the recording quality counts. Listen & your music taste might receive an upgrade. Budget gear & sweet sounds: Cambridge AXR 100 + CA DacMagic 200m & power conditioning. Under 2k USD Speaker of the year according to Andrew Robinson.
Thank you for taking such time to go through this review. I've been seriously struggling to purchase a paid of speakers and integrated amp for a dedicated music only system. I have a large room of about 4000cuFt (23' x 16' x 11' ceiling) and want to fill the room, not listen from one spot. I'm in between the CXA61 vs 81 and something like the Monitor Audio Bronze 500 - but I ran across these speakers and they are so much more my 'style' and to hear they are not so sound focused is a major plus. If you can advise on any other options or if I should just go with these I'd really appreciate it! (Stuck in online reviews hole)
Excellent review Terry. I'm planning to move in the next year..... think I'll have two systems . One system much as I've got, one built around these Wharfedales. Just one question. Apart from a bit of blutac, is there any way of securing the speakers to the stands?
Hi, Really like your channel. Very professional and thoughtful. I got my first real system at the Cornflake shop in London in 1990. I'm interested in buying these Lintons but they seem to be amplifier/electronics dependent to bring out their best sound. Which amplifiers would you recommend under $1500 that would pair well with these? I've looked at the Cambridge Audio CXA-81 or maybe the Schiit Audio Vidar with a preamp or maybe the Arcam SA10 or the Peachtree Nova 150? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks PS Why didn't you include these Lintons in any of your speaker face-offs?
Excellent review. If they play with the yamaha a-s 701 what kind of sound will they deliver, do you think?I cannot tolerate schril/sharp mids and highs.I like strong/deep bass and warm/sweet mids and highs.I don't like bright sounding speakers. Now iam running yamaha a-s 701 with wharfeadale 225's.Some say that Linton have too much bass,if you put them 30 cm from the rear wall. But most people put their speakers about 15-20 cm from the rear wall....Others say, as you said about the treble that they are very forward.
Bass is all about how you set a speaker up in a room and room acoustics, yes they have quite a full and warm sound but too much bass is a setup issue for that audiophile and their room 100% I haven't heard your amp so I cant say for sure but I didn't get any shrillness or harshness from the Linton - I have created a sound demo video too to give you an idea of how they were sounding for me ua-cam.com/video/6x-BKCaygzU/v-deo.html
The original Linton cost me £30 in 1971. I heard it's mk1 version which seemed better. Typical speakers of the era. They made way for Dynaco. A25s. If I were looking again I might have done an A25 as a Linton. The Celestion Ditton 44 was more like this new Linton. It's like selecting an average motorcar almost forgotten and relaunching it. I find that rather wonderful. Needless to say old and new are not generic.
hi , recently i listened evo 4.2 and loved the midrange and fuller thicker vocals.. but this lintons are attracting more for its bigger midrange driver.. do i expect same or better performance in vocals when compared with evo 4.2? i got offer for whardale linton for little more cost than evo 4.2..thats also tempting to buy lintons.. thanks
Hi Terry, I would greatly appreciate your advice. I have a Primaluna Evo 300 integrated tube amp currently running Polk audio RTI-A7 floor standing speakers. I am streaming Tidal Hifi through a Cambridge CXN V2 currently also. I moved the Polk speakers from a home cinema setup as I wanted to listen to more 2 channel music but I find the Polks to be quite bright as my listening position is only 2.7m away. From my research the Polk RTIA7 is a great home cinema speaker but not a great 2 channel music loving speaker. I believe I have the correct amp to deliver a richer, warmer sound but do you think the Linton's will deliver a more enjoyable music listening experience at lower volumes? I have just auditioned the Lintons and thought they sounded great but they were running on an Audiolab solid state amp. The dealership didn't have any experience with tube amps running the Lintons so I was wondering if you think the Lintons would be an upgrade from my 12 year old Polks? Mainly listen to Piano, Vocal Jazz, Orchestral and acoustic nowadays also.
Thank you for the great review. How do you think the speaker would perform when connected to ( Yamaha RX V677 - I have this ). I am thinking of buying Sprout 100 for SVS Soundbase to go with these but not sure if that sound will improve when compared to my RX V677.
Thanks for the detailed review really helpful. Just one snag though how can you justify a £7k amp (luxman l-509x) with £1k speakers? Just doesn’t make sense... can you explain that motive? Tnx
Thanks Chris - if you listened to both the speakers and the Luxman you would see why I am saying it - the price of each component is only relevant to the individual and how they would choose to spend their money - what matters is the end resulting sound and if you achieve that with 1k speakers and a 7k amp or whatever it is then that is a route to go - or maybe listen to the Luxman and find an alternative that gets you as close as you can for the budget you have. Different ways to skin a cat :)
Ok cool tnx for that. I get wanting to get the best sound as poss. But It’s just way out of my budget, can you recommend anything else for about 1k that would work with them ? what a about Rega amps?
I have the Klipsch 600m and even though I like them a lot I find their brightness fatiguing. Are the Lintons more warm than the klipsch and would these pair well with a Cambridge cxa61?
Hello, which amplifier would you recommend for the lintons? I am not satisfied with the bass in my system. Sounds kind of recessed and ill defined. My presumption is Lintons require powerful amplification despite 90db sensitivity. Your knowledfe and opinion are most welcome.
I like speakers that deliver warm tight bass( can't stand boomy bass) I also like speakers that deliver clear and natural highs that are perhaps slightly rolled off (can't stand harsh or overly bright tweeters) I keep tossing up between the Lintons or Diamond 230, I wonder which of those 2 would better suit my tastes.
Terry, what would you pick between these, the JBL L82 and the KLH Model 5? I like well resolving speakers without being too harsh or clinical. They would go quite close to a wall and I listen to almost genres of music but hip hop/metal.
What would your idea of a suitable speaker cable be?..Currently using Tellerium Black..Looking at the Audioquest Rocket 44. Roksan K3 Amp and Ke cd player, with Cambridge CXN..
so finally, I am just curious to ask further - which speaker set you would recommend to an audiophile that is even better than Linton almost in the same price range or slightly high! though I am deciding to make a 5.1 channel with 2 lintons as front and rest all like center, surround, bipole fx series from monitor audio silver 100 line. Your valuable inputs are most welcome and highly appreciated! I personally like paradigm, Monitor audio so far, and Quad but do not get a chance to audition them a lot

Is 30WPC enough it drive them? Or will I not be taking advantage of their quality? Thanks

I was thinking maybe more amp would give more bass authority from them, but the bass quality was excellent even from a smaller amp
@ David Sanders -Love my JC-1’s as well. They are such a bargain. And I bet they’re awesome with your Lintons. I’m listening with Focal Kanta No.2.
One of the best reviews of the Lintons I’ve watched, very clear and knowledgeable 👍
Late to the party but thought I'd leave a comment to say fantastic review, very nice real-world discussion -- very valuable for music listeners who prefer not to get too bogged down into technical analysis (though of course that does have its value as well), cheers
i heard them today in my local Audio store,it's true that the vocals shine,so rich and present a bit forward maybe depends on the recording but overall fantastic,Bass was also very tight on the one record i put on a bit shy on the other which means this speaker plays what the amplifier feeds it and the quality of the recording itself
have and love them, immensely engaging and detailed without being analytical at all, just pure enjoyment
These are the most beautiful on the whole market. And they sound very good.
I just bought these speakers. They are connected on a Lyngdorf TDAI 1120 with RoomPerfect. They sound just amazing!
Ive been looking at these for months, this review was just what I needed. Thank You.
Did you get them?
The EVO 4.2 seem nice but may need a sub.
I did.
Hi. Thanks for your review. I bought these speakers . They sound excellent.
I also bought me an advanced acoustic 125xi powered by fantastic
I have owned these speakers now for around four weeks. I tested loads of speakers, and decided these were for me. They just get better and better the more i play them. I never get tired of these beauties, whatever music i play through them, i am amazed!!! From heavy metal, doom, punk and classical, they just handle it all with ease. I love them!!!!!!
What are these other speakers you tested the Linton against?
Thanks for the comprehensive review. I would love to see you take a look at the two-way Denton 85th as well if you get a chance!
I will see what I can do for you :)
I have a pair I found they performed best with valves great review
Best Review of the Lintons on UA-cam!👌
Very nice speakers and fine review. Also credits for the opening: “I hope you are all well” 🙏
First week with Lintons.

Love mine.
Just ordered a set today to match up with my new Marantz nr1200.
Woo hooooo!!!!!!!!
Nice !!
Good review, but I feel that you have slightly underrated them. I have them and I truly love them. I have recently bought the Kef Meta's, which did absolutely nothing for me. The Revel M16 Concerto's, which I liked a lot. But the Linton's really float my boat in everywhere. I have them at the end of my Kef3 system, they work together really well.
everyway
Terry, the Linton Heritage are good speakers overall. You mentioned that you would have loved to pair them with the Luxman 509X. Now that is a gem of an amp. I actually did get to listened to the 509, but paired with Magico speakers. That was clean power delivered to truly epic dynamic speakers.
Yeah David its a very lovely amplifier
I still love my Linton 3XPs hopefully one day I will grab a set of these as they seem to be very much a modern interpretation of the originals from the way you describe them! So they are probably the perfect upgrade for me when I have saved enough pennies! :-)
This review is very well done, I definitely want them, and sounds like you can have a lot of fun with different levels of gear to drive them too!
J adore vos vidéos quand à moi-même je possède des wharfedale evo 4.2 et je suis agréablement surpris de leur grande finesse pour moi elles ont très bien placé sur le marché vue leur prix

@@andrehb They are still great...and the bass has even further improved!!!
I've just brought them back home a couple of days. It still takes time to warm up.
Nice choice, hope you enjoy them
Do you listen on them now?
Regards!
I love this real world review
Outstanding production value and review 👏
Thank you very much, I really appreciate it
Thank you very much for the great review.
You english guys really know how to engineer fantastic sounding loudspeakers😉
My favorite speaker of all time, independently of price and size, is the Harbeth super HL5 plus.
Your going to get a lot more bass out of them than P3ESR's maybe think a little differently about their setup and positioning
@@dertechniker8867 What I did was , that I closed the rear ports. beware that doing so you loosing slightly the sensitivity of the speaker.

Having now reviewed both the lintons and the evo 4.2s which one do you like better? Similar price points.
Greetings from France and thanks a lot for that review. I ordered a pair yesterday and would appreciate to know what minimal specs an amplifier should have to be able to drive the Linton...
Greetings from California -- I'm curious to know, how are you enjoying the speakers and what amplifier have you paired them with?
These sound like my kind of speakers. The possible limitations in the sound stage wouldn't bother me because I'm hopeless at identifying where the different elements of the music are panning from. IUnless I've just never had the right system! I wish I'd been around at the time of mono.
What tube based integrated amp do you recommend for the Lintons Terry? Thanks
Excellent review as usual Terry. I really like the look of the Linton's and I think they would work well with the Prima Luna Evo 400 amplifier.

Did you demo the evo 4.3's?
@@hclandscapes I ordered a pair to compare them to the Linton. I kind of know what to expect, but given that they are both almost the same price, I wanted to check *in my room and for my listening habits*, which one works best.

Hello Thanks for all these videos you do. I am witing for some building work to finish then i wish tomsort my hifi out.
What kind of tweeter do they have? I like this speaker, they have a unique sound, many good rewiews.

Hello I would like to add the Linton to my home theater. Do you have any center speaker recommendations?
In your opinion, what would be the ideal size for Wharfedale KLH Model 5 speakers?
Excellent review. If they play with the yamaha a-s 701 what kind of sound will they deliver, do you think?I cannot tolerate schril/sharp mids and highs.I like strong/deep bass and warm/sweet mids and highs.I don't like bright sounding speakers. Now iam running yamaha a-s 701 with wharfeadale 225's.Some say that Linton have too much bass,if you put them 30 cm from the rear wall. But most people put their speakers about 15-20 cm from the rear wall....Others say, as you said about the treble that they are very forward.
Bass is all about how you set a speaker up in a room and room acoustics, yes they have quite a full and warm sound but too much bass is a setup issue for that audiophile and their room 100%
I haven't heard your amp so I cant say for sure but I didn't get any shrillness or harshness from the Linton - I have created a sound demo video too to give you an idea of how they were sounding for me ua-cam.com/video/6x-BKCaygzU/v-deo.html
Great review, thinking of investing and driving with a vintage Marantz 2265, would that be a good match?
hi , recently i listened evo 4.2 and loved the midrange and fuller thicker vocals.. but this lintons are attracting more for its bigger midrange driver.. do i expect same or better performance in vocals when compared with evo 4.2? i got offer for whardale linton for little more cost than evo 4.2..thats also tempting to buy lintons.. thanks
check my evo 4.2 review I talk about the differences there
Hi Terry, I would greatly appreciate your advice.
Please tell me
marantz pm 7000 N will match with wharfedale Linton speakers
Sorry no idea but I think most amps will be ok with the Lintons

Great review over all!
But why do most people forget what hifi stands for and pronounce it wrong. It’s about high fidelity...

Hello, which amplifier would you recommend for the lintons? I am not satisfied with the bass in my system. Sounds kind of recessed and ill defined. My presumption is Lintons require powerful amplification despite 90db sensitivity. Your knowledfe and opinion are most welcome.
I like speakers that deliver warm tight bass( can't stand boomy bass)
I also like speakers that deliver clear and natural highs that are perhaps slightly rolled off (can't stand harsh or overly bright tweeters)
