Originally the US Army were going to acquire up to 150 then it became the Joint Cargo Aircraft program between the US Army and Air Force. Orders were reduced to 78 then the JCA became a complete air force program. Orders reduced to 38, but in the end only 21 were required. Transferred to the Air National Guard and then to US Army, whom have 7 and eventually the US Coast Guard will operate 14.
An initial order of up to 200 machines between US Army and Air Force, finished with 0 planes for both of them. One wonders what flies in the minds of certain people.
Great choice by USCG for a mission specific aircraft. Tough, agile and dependable.
Interesting to see this Italian aircraft in service with the USCG.
With American engines!
@@caribbaviator7058 That's neat! Thanks for the info. I'd love to see one of these planes.
The baby Hercules!
What does the Coast Guard use these for?
scouting idk
Scanning for drug traffic
They also use them for search and rescue
interesting video, dont knew this plane!!
Yeah they aren't very common. The Air Force got rid of theirs and gave them to the Coast Guard, which is also phasing them out.

Awsome ,a C-130 Jr.
see what explained at Jordan, greeting from Italy
A plane that cost more to maintain over its lifetime compared to a C130. Kinda of a rip off.
HC-130 ÷ 2 - It should be designated HC-65.
The Coast Guard already flies an H-65.
C130 Jr
It's just a Twin Engine C-130 instead of being Four engines
Michael Corbeil c130 Fire
It's another machine!!!!
