1996 or 1997 was the last of the good old days on The Weather Channel, though my favorite years were between 1993 and 1995. But, I love 1996 and/or 1997 because of Trammell Starks music during the local forecasts mostly. What I love about TWC back in the 1990s is that they were actually The Weather Channel rather than The Entertainment/Drama/News/(and whatever else they are now) Channel.
Yes, I know The Weather Channel got started in 1982, but I didn't start watching it until the 1990s...and became obsessed with it through most of the 1990s.
90's Weather Channel what a time to be alive when I was in Kindergarten with Timberly from Hey Arnold, while Amara and Michelle (Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune) were 12th Grade Seniors in High School in Japan 17/18 years old.
The was the warm up and rainstorm that caused a ton of flooding issues in southeast PA since three feet of snowmelt from the Blizzard of 1996 plus several inches of rain had to go somewhere and then right after this it got brutally cold...that was a crazy winter

I lived in Easton PA, right along the Delaware, so I remember it vividly. It was the first major flood in that area in 40 years. Then 10-15 years later, there would be 3 more.
When The Weather Channel Was Great!

For some reason that sounds better than TWC's Storm Alert theme.
I used to be obsessed with this channel too when I was between the ages of 7 and 10 years old in the late 90's. The music to it andeverything to this channel interest me a lot. I can't believe that the Weather Chaannel, MTV, and other channells are so much different today than 20 years ago. I just love to wake up in the morning to watching this channel before headd to school each days

SAME! I was in fifth grade when the blizzard hit in January 1996, and I was blessed to be snowed in at my grandmas house. Two whole weeks at her wonderful house of dreams while the snow swirled down from the sky in a blanket of white fluff all around. One of my happiest memories ❤

Back when the weather channel was great and there were actual meteorologists reporting the weather. Declan Cannon was great

At some point after the WeatherStar 4000 was updated to allow warnings to crawl on the bottom of the screen, it was also decided that local forecast segments with a crawling warning would show only the current conditions, latest observations, and then the local radar for the rest of the local forecast segment.
Back in the late 80s and 90s, some Canadian and Mexican cities were shown on the maps.

The channel is ruin .The old logo was better.local weather is not the same ,everything on it has change to much.my point is the weather channel was better and was working fine the way before than you all had to get up and mess it up to the point no one understands it and you put all these shows on .The weather channel is supposed to be the weather channel.it is supposed to be showing weather and that's it.you guys should had left it the way it was the way we like it and could understand it.if it ain't broken ,why are you trying to fix it!?
I just wish this channel stuck to its main goal while updating their outdated technology...technology gets old after a certain amount of time.
