I may not have all the right tools. My family was never mechanically inclined to help me out. I’m making the most out of what I have. I plan on getting better tooling from all your suggestions. Proud of myself that I was able to do this without instruction 🥰
For being 100% self taught (no UA-cam) I’m amazed with what you can do. This is a true enthusiast’s budget built but with the best parts. You might not have the best tools but you know how to get the job done with what you’ve got so when you get new tools your life will be so much easier!!
Kayla, you’re amazing and so awesome that you’re able to do your own mods and Servicing and that you know so much about cars. I take my hat off to you. Well done. The car looks awesome
Hi Kayla, it's so nice to see that you don't let set backs or complications discourage you. Your positive approach is great, and you're very resourceful, like when you used to washers to adjust the swaybar clearence. Can't wait to see more videos with the new rear suspension.! The car looks amazing!
I recommend spraying anti corrosion such as fluid flim on your new suspension parts, especially threads. They have corrosion resistance metal but still helps more with fluid film. Wear a respirator from 3M whenever you use chemical sprays to save your lungs. Brake cleaners to spray paint.
Great Job!!!! Helpful Hint. Always apply a small amount of synthetic grease to the rub points of bushings so they don't bind or twist. Also the control arms should be tightened with the suspension compressed with a jack. That way the bushing is not twisted when the car is back on the ground. Lastly, always use thread locker on the bolts for that added security. Your doing Great!!!! The Chassis Guy
I've been waiting to rebuild all my suspension too. Now it seriously couldn't be better. I wish I did this all sooner!! It's been so nice working on my car alongside great company!
Hey Kayla, first time viewer. Love your car, sounds amazing. Very cool to see someone working on their own car, especially a new gen Camaro. You don’t need a giant professional shop full of tools to complete most jobs. Looks like you have the tools you need, upgrades may just make things faster or easier. Thanks for sharing!
Yea I LOVE her "REAR SUSPENSION". And, her "front suspension" is pretty nice also...Hope that girl knows how to properly TORQUE everything when reassembled
I agree about the investing in a good wrench set. Need to get rid of that crescent wrench girl. Got to get those fenders away from those expensive tires as well. Love the videos and definitely an A for the effort. 👍🏻 keep it up!
Removing suspension bolts without power or air tools are tough for a guy twice your aize. So kudos to you for not getting discouraged and sticking with it.
When tighting suspension bushing, the car needs to be under "preload" before fully tightening the bolt or it will premature wear out the bushings. Also tightening the bushing bolts while its in the air and unpreloaded will also make the bushings squeak
Im not a GM guy but love seeing people with little to no experience or tools just get in there and get it done, not many men and far fewer women that will risk changing parts for fear of breaking something also its why my shop is always full. I lmao when you were taking that lower arm off with an adjustable wrench and said... what in the freaking fuk🤣. I said then, yep shes got this she already cussing and not 1/4 the way into it yet but when you got to DP the washer i spit my tea out and pissed my dog off😂😂. Keep wrenching chick im here for the comedy and see the car make some passes or hit a road course one day💪🏻
Hahahaha that makes me so happy I could share a laugh. I cut out me laughing SO hard after I said that. But what else do you call two hammers? It’s true, I trusted shops for a while until I ran into multiple bad situations. Figured doing it myself was better for my sanity, save me money, and learn along the way!
It's awesome to see you doing the upgrade yourself (on international women's day too, I want my daughter to see this!). Top hint: avoid the shifter and vice grips when working with decent fasteners because they wont stay good for long! Man that thing is low, surely you will need to flare the guards now?
I am not going to roll the fenders or anything since I took the time afterwards and raised the car up. I was just waiting for the car to settle to see how much higher I wanted to go. Now it sits perfect! Worst case I can always buy more if I mess something up. Thank you for the support!

I love this girl this can do it her self good job keep it up may not have the right tools but u still can do the job an get it done u will get up there one day 💪
When you have a difficult bolt you need to get a hollow piece of pipe and slide it over your wrench to make a cheater bar so you can get leverage to get it off.
You make it look so easy removing the lower control arms.. and here I am in the UK trying to do the same on my TT to replace the bushings - fighting seized bolts and layers of corrosion 😂

Also...no mechanic worth their salt almost ever uses a crescent wrench for anything like this. Box end wrenches...all bolt hex head contact so the wrench can't slip and as importantly, you don't round the hex head. There are good youtube channels to learn to wrench properly as well...but a lot of hacks on line as well. Good luck. P.S. When I see you work on the car, I wish I could help. For example, best to press the eccentric washers off the bolt...a simple press. If pounding on it....use a nut on the end of the bolt flush to the end of the bolt so you don't bugger the thread. Never use vice grips. There are countless techniques to make this job easier. I give you a heck of a lot of credit for doing this without instruction. A last note, The halfshaft rubbing on the frame flange is due to your change in nominal ride height....or you are running slightly oversized half shafts aka constant velocity joints for greater strength. Couple of pieces of advice for the next time. 1. Just use the bolt with the OE oblong washer, it would have worked fine for your application. Now if you ever want to go back to OE, you need new arm bolts. 2. PLEASE don’t use a torque wrench for normal ratcheting. Am I watching her use vice grips, and a crescent wrench? I love your initiative keep doing what you are doing. Can we please get this girl the right tools to do the job?

Kayla The more camber angle you put into your front and rear wheels the faster your expensive tires will wear out on the street. On the track it's a no no too. You will have less traction moving forward and it's dangerous if the front's pull up off the ground and come back down the car will want to dart to one side or the other possibly spinning the car into the wall or curb, pole. I love the stiffening components though and the mint green calipers look great on white.

@Kayla Rundle yeh I bet! The Zeta platform that the 5th gen and my SS Sedan is riding on is awesome. Stock form mine drives on rails also because of mag ride.
What I don’t like about these types of adjustable suspension arms is that you can end up with different length arms on each side of the car after alignment, which can make the car handle differently on left vs right turns. With eccentric bolts the arms remain the same length at all times. The difference can be subtle but it can be an issue nonetheless.

@ian trofimov Are ball bearings on a bearing race bonded to anything, yet can squeak if their is no grease.
Only required for rubber bushings bonded to the inner sleeve. Aftermarket bushings generally do not have to be tightened at ride height.
