Good strategy......slow execution. Even though I'm rusty I could have pulled this off much faster, easily achieving 24 if not 25k. Haha, I'm just kidding you man. :D Between the often-times sketchy rail-hit-detection, gravity tubes BSing you into the abyss, and homing attacks not homing onto what is right in front of you (often leading to death on this kind of level) this must have taken a lot of time and frustration to pull off in one run. +James G Haha, yeah 25k easily! I have to be honest and say that I'm surprised how quickly I pulled it off. I've been practising for less than a week when I pulled it off. One thing is for sure, thanks to playing on Dolphin and always being able to capture up to 10 mins is a huge help because were it on TV, I wouldn't have had he belief in me to set up the camera yet! I have also checked what records are still ours and I must admit I was shocked to find out you didn't have any left! =( But that may change, you never know! I hope that life has been treating you well my friend and that at one time, you will have the time/motivation come back to claim some records! You deserve it! Same goes for brian of course! Regarding FR1...well, what can I say... I gotta be honest, I hate the new skip. It takes so much away from my favorite level of all time, it's disgusting, even though it's an awesome skip! I have tried to copy the strats and ended up at 1:09:something, so pretty close. I have also just compared the runs of the WR and second place and there is STILL room for improvement! The WR run jumps from the rail at 26:40 and lands at 1:08:74, while the second place run jumps at 27:00 and lands at 1:08:75 so there is a timeframe of at least half a second of improvement "during" the skip. However, I just don't know how to pull it off really. You can't learn much just by watching it and I haven't found any im depth explanation to how/when/where to jump really. Do you know of anything? I have "only" tried around 300 times but only managed to pull off the skip twice.
+finalrush7 I haven't touched FR1 (Too bad SA2 doesn't have 7 missions, eh? :D) since I got my 2:07. As such, I unfortunately cannot give you any advice on how to do the skip. Hell, I think the last FR1 speedrun I watched was when the record was like 1:40-1:50, where they run up the wall to skip all the super bounces mid-level. If I ever decide to experiment and figure anything out I'll of course fill you in. I agree with you.... FR1 it's just like city escape. A mega-cut that takes all the fun out of the level. I played for like an hour to get 1:17 on CE1 but as you put it, it was just disgusting. Restarting from the check until the ramp doesn't screw you is SO much fun. Wow. On top of that the rails are basically all luck, as there's no amount of skill that would enable you do do them perfectly every single time. Getting to the first check in 33-34 seconds is incredible though! Life has been alright. Ups and downs...but I'm not starving and I stay warm and dry at night. Can't complain! I hope all continues to stay well for you too my friend. :D
dude, i still can't do the final rush skip, and for some strange and unknown reason my sa2b now goes at 30 fps(sa2 game speed is triggered to the framerate, that means that if it is running at 120 fps it goes at the double of it's normal speed and cheat engine's speed hack is completly useless) when it use to run perfectly at 60 fps, and yeah, i tried to run it in the lower resolution preset of the launcher, the good part is that now i can do the speedrun tecnic that's used to finish biolizard in seconds without hurt my self at the half of the first try :v
