I think it’s only considered that way because it had to follow up Lateralus. It was inevitable that people who were hoping for an even better Lateralus would be let down. 10k Days is an amazing album, I just think both lost keys and intension should’ve been a few minutes shorter.

+Protoss Zerg Us Humans were made / evolved and now what we have become is the opposite of what we used to be. Us Humans used to care for each other and get along but we have changed for the worse.
We now fight over everything and our planet which has provided for us all of our existence is dying.
The song is talking about how we should remember what Us Humans were meant to be. Why cant we all just divide everything in two.

    • @Braptist
      @Braptist 9 років тому +55

+Protoss Zerg The message is that we have been blessed with free will but instead of understanding it and using it for positive change we depend on oil, wage war and pray for heaven in the afterlife while the only heaven that will ever be is the one we could create here and now.
The message should be obvious really, but the bottom line is we as humans in the aggregate choose fear (control) instead of love (possibilities). There have been early tribes who knew how to live together this way but nevertheless our self-centered mindsets have driven us to SHAMEFRU DISPRAY

nuke97 Can’t we just admire their old music instead of complaining about upcoming music? I know the comment is a year old but it’s becoming annoying. They don’t owe you music, nor should they. They are artists and their production time is their choice. You aren’t entitled to their music and creativity. Also, they all went off and did their own thing for 3-4 years, (Maynard-Wine/APC, Adam Jones-Special FX, Danny-Side Bands/Living life, Justin-Doing interviews and perfecting his sound.)
I’m not some die hard “Tool comes from the heavens!” Fan, I’m just saying as a new artist that it’s tiring to write music (And I’m writing in 4/4 with just guitar layers) and it takes 3 months to make a three minute track.

joe baressi really took the edge off the band in the mix and master, rounded off the guitars and took the boomy ringing out of the drums. he basically took TOOL and gave them nickel back's mix and master treatment. its the first tool album to come along that wasn't completely and totally better than the album before it. rosetta stoned is mostly uninteresting riffs, and the heavy riffs after the tabla solo in this song aren't really up to tool's level. they FUCKING NAILED IT on fear innoculum, though. i can't say enough good things about fear innoculum.

Well aware of how to write songs and I agree he's quite talented as well as the rest of the band. But they are about two thirds as good as the praise they often get. From the rumours swirling that they were recording, to seeing the studio shots online, and even the kick that came from APC releasing a new album... All of it, brought me back into the fold that is Tool. And subsequently this masterpiece of a song. Which I now appreciate with a newfound vigor.
So happy at the thought of a new album.

Was introduced “fully” to tool when 10,000 days came out. I was 12. Went back in forth with favorite songs and albums, but when put on the spot, I would say this my favorite album. Easy. “Pushit/alt version” is my favorite song, but this album hits different than all the others IMO.

I was looking at the quality of this video, as well as the sound, and was not surprised at all to see huntingtonst1. Thanks man. This is my favorite song off 10,000 Days and this is a killer version. I was lucky enough to actually see this song live in 07 at Huntington Civic Center in WV.

That part from 09:00 till 12:20 is absolutely fantastic, kinda gives you a moment to reflect and understand the seriousness of the song you've just listened to, lets you soak it in. So dark and intense.. emotional roller coaster at least. Amazing song, amazing band - there's nothing better

i hate that the new album features less of Maynard than any album of theirs ever has. this song has so much packed into it, vocally, lyrically, i LOVE it.

That's cause Maynard lost his vocal abilities, im sorry to say that but it's the truth, if u listen to some older live shows the difference is huge since in the nowadays live he masks his voice with tone of effects and u almost can't hear him cause of the instruments but in the old days his voice was so powerful the instruments would get lost in it, here in this live u can see the beginning of Maynard loosing his vocal abilities.

    • @giorgioIP

Your comment was posted 4 years ago so you might not see my reply, I just wanna tell you that seeing you name San Vicente really made me happy and brought back great memories. A few days after my first Tool concert I started the camino de Santiago and I remember your little town! Unfortunately I just spent a night there and walked to the next town the following day, but I will never forget the lovely San Vicente. I remember that evening there was the sardinada (A festival with lots of wine and sardines) and I had a great time with some people I met during the camino. Also, I remember feeling something really powerful in the church of santa Maria there in San Vicente, something that I have never felt before or after that one time in a church (I'm not Catholic). Something really close to what I feel sometimes while listening to Tool... That's why your comment really moved me. What are the odds of this small Spanish Town that means something to me being randomly mentioned under the recording of a concert of my favorite band? Gracias, Emmanuel.
Viva España, viva Tool y viva San Vicente de la barquera

I actually ripped the album version and purged the vocals and replaced them with visual lyrics in my Karaoke. I also deleted all the musical leads/ interludes and fashioned it in such a way that Karaoke singers will embrace. I did this over 10 years ago and still, I am the only one to bring it to life.
