  • Today My dad and I finally picked up the prop that I so desperately needed since I bought my engine for my boat. To our surprise it was a success with a small amount of trimming the boat runs absolutely perfect!

    The most important thing in finding right pitch propeller is fact of motor boat load (weight, size, type e.t.c..) so that the motor is not working overloaded at full throttle as possible.
    Appropriate load means that motor works in middle range of max. RPM specify in manuals. For Suzuki DF15 max RPM is between 5000-6000 ,so 5500 rpm is optimal 5000 and less overload , close to 6000 easy run.

    My DF20A came with a 10 pitch stock and I discovered the Rev limiter today with just me in the boat. I ordered a 12 pitch. They say every inch of pitch affects the rpm by 150-200rpm. So I should be in the sweet spot with the 12. Right now my boat tops out at 26mph hitting the Rev limiter. Excited to what it will do with the 12 pitch.

    Prop is everything. Well done. I'd try a stainless wheel. Aluminum wheels are thicker for strength so the grab a lil more water ... stainless prop is thinner. A 12 pitch stainless should get you 28 mph fairly easy. We tested some aluminum props at the same pitch on 2 deferent boats. One had a 60 merc 4 stroke from a aluminum prop to a stainless in the same pitch gave the boat 2 more mph. The 115 merc 4 stroke got 5 more mph ..

      Aluminum has a higher slippage percentage than stainless always go stainless. Keep an aluminum as a spare

    I have a 96 gheenoe classic with a 84 seahorse 6hp. 2 people and gear my top speed is 15 mph. Prob get another mph if the water was glass like that. Some day I’ll get a 15-25 but I don’t think I can beat 15 mph on a lil 6hp. It would love another 10 mph fo sho

    Jack plate will help speed a lot, I live down the street from there do you still have the boat? I'd love to see it side by side with my 15'4 as well as a drag race 😁

    How does the lt10 handle chop? Not sure if it’ll handle the big sport fish boat wakes I get around here well. But I am looking into one of these or the 15’4 highsider to river and flats fish in

      To be honest with you not good at all. I loved it but ended up selling it because most of the waters I took it in had a lot of boat traffic and got choppy. It was too dangerous, I had to get something bigger. But if you’re just going to be fishing flats it’s the perfect boat. It did great in the everglades and back country

      @@WeekendPirate cool! I’d probably be running it everywhere I take my kayak and areas similar with a few large channel crossings, I think it would work. Do you? I’d have 1 other person on board with me, and I’d be running a 9.9 or 15 hp Yamaha

    how did this new prop work? I have this exact same setup, and went out the first time today. Tried to hit WOT and the engine bogged down, i think i need to do the same prop change

    • @WeekendPirate
      @WeekendPirate  5 років тому

      Ryan Moore Yeah your engine is over revving most likely. Up the prop size or change the pitch.

    • @trentfoo8851

      Hey I have the same motor , whenever I hit WOT the motor just over revs and doesn’t increase speed is this normal ?
      I have changed the prop aswell

  • @ThePulzeGamer

    What prop did u have and what now ?? And what sort of speed difference?? I got a Honda 15hp and I know I need new props since one on it is for 20hp engine and way to big and 4 blade not 3 haha so can't wait to get a new one

    • @WeekendPirate
      @WeekendPirate  6 років тому

      I had the stock 15hp Suzuki prop and the new prop is still a Suzuki prop just with a 11inch pitch. Maybe the 20hp prop will work well on your engine. It all depends on the size and weight of the boat you're pushing. You need to experiment with different props and trims to find the perfect match for your boat.

    • @ThePulzeGamer
      @ThePulzeGamer 6 років тому

      Couple of Adventures yeah I'll have to figure it out only small boat so not much weight just need speed increase lol I'll try original stock prop first :)

    • @WeekendPirate
      @WeekendPirate  6 років тому

      PulzeGaming Sounds good! My stock prop was a 9" pitch I was only able to hit about 20mph before over reving. So with the new 11" prop I can hit 28mph with just me in the boat and 26 with two people and gear. Goodluck!

    • @ThePulzeGamer
      @ThePulzeGamer 6 років тому

      Thats very good, i suppose your boat would not have alot of load weight or resistance so you can go with high pitch props :) , prop i am getting is a 9 1/2 pitch but might go for the 10 :P

    • @WeekendPirate

      Big_A Previously I was only hitting 20mph. The engine was over revving at about 75% throttle. So now I'm cruising at 26mph with 2 people and gear. The boat feels so much faster. Lol

    Hey, I just bought 2018 15 HP. I find it vibrates quite a lot while at slow trolling speeds. Hoping it clears up or its not normal. How does your motor seem?

    • @WeekendPirate
      @WeekendPirate  4 роки тому +1

      tim krieger I sold this boat a while ago but there was a lot of vibration at low speeds. Nothing I was really able to do about it no matter how much I played with the idle. My mako 17 being a larger heavier boat I can’t even tell if the 60hp engine is running if I’m not looking at it.

    I have a 13 ft gheenoe with a 15 hp evinrude and everything works fine on the motor, my top speed is 17 mph with just me in it, I have a 9-1/2 x 10 prop do you think I should upgrade to the same prop as you?

    • @WeekendPirate
      @WeekendPirate  6 років тому

      ItsFrisky There really isn’t a simple answer. You need to check what RPM your boat runs at full speed. Then from there you need to adjust to a different pitch. Your engine should be running just at 6k Rpm for best performance.
