Love the video, I think its reasonable to go to the professor and tell them about what's going on. She is letting her feelings get ahead of her job and that isn't exactly the right thing to do, so you don't know if she will proceed to keep doing that and it will reflect our your grade. Not sure what she is like as a person but might as well do it to be safe.
Wait, was this the same ta that u mentioned awhile back (about philosophy being a wrong life decision)? Nevertheless, you had every right to stand up for yourself (and your classmate)! looks like u and ur ta need to have a chat abt why she said that. loving the fast uploads and quality content 👌🏼
You absolutely have the right to challenge a prof or TA, regardless of stature. Like you said, it's literally their job to help/make you understand course topics. You offered an alternative perspective, which Is also the point of a discussion is; to hear and take in objective views on whatever the topic is. She's also a Philosophy grad student, so she can't be older than 23/24...Meaning she has no real perspective on life or practical application of philosophy in the "real world". Her whole understanding is straight from literature and lectures, so by challenging her you're basically challenging everything she's been learning up unto that point, or at least thats how she would digest it, so it's almost like a personal attack on her. I would've done the same thing. People in positions of power need to understand objectivity of others and how to use it themselves.
Your TA was definitely out of line and completely unprofessional; from the way she responded to the other student was well it doesn't seem she's doing her job. Honestly I would have expected her to have reached out to you by now since she's meant to be the responsible/authority figure and should be acting to resolve this. Maybe have a quick chat saying you know things got heated, you still stand by what you said but moving forward you hope ye can put it behind ye and get the most out of the class? I'm not a confrontational person lol so I'm not too sure how I would resolve this. If it seems like it's going to be a continuous issue then definitely contact your professor, at the end of the day your grades are more important. I've had tutors (our version of a TA) sometimes forget that while they may be masters or PhD students we're still new to this and it's difficult to comprehend concepts, but part of being a TA is learning to deal with that. Good luck anyway with it, and aside from that nice video!
The question you raised is a valid, complicated, perhaps even still unsettled and/or controversial issue actually. The largest issue involved is self-control, and the lack of self esteem or struggle with depression that may be beneath that, while in more localized sense the contributing factor may be rationalization of a certain amount of partying and a certain lowering of academic achievement is worth the fun and life experiences to be gained. Perhaps in the most macro sense, another question is: do we really know for a fact before we do it that going to a bar will be something we’ll regret later? If you break that down carefully, I’d say that most people think, before they do it, that they are striking a relatively appropriate balance between the amount of achievement vs fun, that they are investing their time in, in the mean result. (setup: Hold applause, pls) The science might be all over the place on this question but others definitely think it’s valid & are interested in understanding it & doing studies about it. After all, it is one on the central psychological components to understanding addiction. Your TA should absolutely NOT have ridiculed you for asking this and if they don’t do a responsibility 180 after you talk to them again, your professor needs to know what happened so they can institute quality control. Now you may applaud. 9:37 “ALL THE FANS GO CRAZY!”👏🏽🙌🏽🎉😂
Another great video Jason! Ur video made my day 😃 I love listening to u talk about nerd stuff haha, the water cooling for the computer was so interesting! Keep up the good work!!
Yk what jWang, you are right. It's a teacher's job make his/her students understand things. Maybe you could have conveyed your thoughts to her in a polite way but what you didn't wasn't wrong. I really hope that TA realises her mistake. She better not mess with your grades. :)
wait but i agree with your point. If you have prior experience of regretting going out and not studying, the you'd have that information at T0 when deciding to go out again or not. However, I think the TA's point was for every new action, you can't feel regret unless you do it and reach T1 which is also true. Was this the same TA you told majoring in philosophy was an irrational choice? lol Still wrong of her to call you out like that though.
@@art3913 but even if you did nothing is also an action, right? so can we regret of choose not to do an action that we would regret in the future? (lol)
Was that the same professor that you said philosophy is a wrong life decision or something like that? In one of your previous videos? Maybe that's the reason she flipped. But nonetheless her behavior was bad and she shouldn't act the way she did and I think it's a good thing you stood out to her.

Wow this upload frequency and quality content 👌
Glad u enjoyed it!
Justified indeed. If the teacher's assistant tries to mess you over they get fired and they won't get a job again like that so you're safe
Lol i dont want her to get fired, just hopefully be a little more considerate
@@jWang Invite her to racketball?
When he builds computers and speaks philosophy 😩😩😩😩😩
Just like Socrates
Bruh... The whole point of philosophy classes is to raise questions and discuss ideas. That T.A must have been having a bad day.
