Can you tell me what you use your poplar boards for? I purchased a mill last summer and have access to some poplar. Not as large as your logs but may be worth milling some for myself.
We have a lot of it here. It’s mostly used for sheeting but in the neighborhood we’ve built 3 garages, a she shed, a UTV car port, and the sawmill shed with all poplar, framing and all including two 7X9 20 ft. beams. I use it for wood working projects pics of 3 country tables I built on Lug&TugSawmill Facebook page. Thanks for stopping by Brent
I replied without checking which video you commented on. My LX55 was just like the rest 19 1/2". On a 26" log that left a top slab that I had to slide (I couldn't lift it) off the sawmill. After I finished the log I would slide it back on and saw a board or two from the slab. Brent
@@lugtugsawmill4725 OK I was wondering because I have the Timbery M1 20 which is the same as the LX 55 and it was about 20 inches from the deck .if you had a slightly longer cable or you run the adjustment all the way up you can get about one more inch out of it. I was just curious if yours was different. Tom
@@thomasgardner5872 Sorry about my mistake. I really liked the LX55 Except for the top slab and I didn't have enough power to get the hp out of the electric motor. Brent
I don't edge my flitches the same you do; your way is MUCH better. You got some very nice lumber from that log.
Dave
Great vid as always. I liked how you edged the last couple, good technique . I am gonna steal that. I really like your water valve system.
I couldn't reach the valve so, I had to do something
Thanks for checking in
Brent
You got a nice stack of lumber out of that log. Keep up the good work Brent!
Thanks Paul. I can't believe I missed this 7 months ago.
Sorry
Brent

Great looking poplar boards 👍🪵🪚👏
This log behaved better than most poplar so, it gave me some nice wide boards.
thanks again for stopping by

Good video. I see that your mill is electric. What is the HP of the motor? Is it single phase or 3 phase?
Thanks, Dave
It’s 320 single phase. I think it’s 7 1/2 hp. It cuts pretty good with a sharp band.
Thanks for checking in. Stop by again.
Brent
Thats 220 single phase
@@lugtugsawmill4725 Yeah, I know. I did the conversion.
@@TheOldManAndTheSaw Thats great, have fun.

@@lugtugsawmill4725 That’s great, thanks.
Nice work!
What is the maximum height the carriage will rise above the tracks on your mill?
Thanks for stopping by. The band will raise to 27' above the bunks.
