NME isnt afraid to use extremely difficult techniques on stage, which also means that theres more opportunity to slip up. So if that happens, he just gotta stick it out.
Not just that. But he uses techniques thatre not necessary in some instances. He could achieve the same sound with less tracks on the loop
Less layers= less time for the track to develop.

To this day I still think NMEs Dat Stick drop against Rythmind is one of my top 3 drops of all time.

@@MajesticPickle_ I actually liked that round given the context. The way I saw it, it was NME playing on the fact that Rythmind “killed” him with the flatline at the end of his round so NME made a round in which he was in the afterlife.
@@DuttySosig No for sure. You can't deny his genius in that round and it's beautiful, just wasn't quite the right move as far as competition goes.
The hand chopping to the music in Saro's 2nd round is why Brez did the same thing when he faced NME and the crowd went wild. Brez called back to when NME lost to Saro as a battle move.
NME was basically making a meme round of Saros techniques.

what's crazy and you don't see anymore in loop station battles is making it to the finals and still having kept 2 crazy freaking rounds. Saro has special tracks for every single rounds! It's all preparation.
So true, Saro's consistency is what made him a tier apart from everyone else and it still something that separates him from other top loopers.
When Saro enters a competition you know he has 2 bangers for each battle. Some are better than others but all his sets are above a certain standard, which is something we don't see even among top loopers nowadays.
GBB didn’t paid NME enough and he couldn’t effort the travels anymore and more things happen to him
I'm not into beatboxing (looping), I don't follow this particular genre at all since I find that 80% of all tracks just doesn't sound right to my ear. But once several years ago when I for the first time a accidentally came across beatboxing ... and this Saro ... I was blown away ... After that I just plow through whatever he ever created. Since then and throughout the years I've always come back to watch him; his playfullness, creativity and joyful music on youtube!
I knew that he was very special and original, but never did I expect to see him find his way into your studeo and hearts. It's so fucking mindblowing to see musicians like yourselves reacting to this ... and at the same time seeing what I have seen ... his true mastery.

And one fun fact - the part where NME is doing that weirdo "nerd" stuff is a personal mischief against Saro, as Saro in that time was not very strong in English and NME put up a small parody of Saro during one of his pre-battle interviews, where Saro was hardly finding the proper English vocabulary.

yep, Saro and Mb14 (Wolgang), did a fantasy battle showcase at a GBB "versus" Tomthom and Gene". Am not fan of loopstation tagteam but their both showcase are just golden.
Idk if Wolfgang performed at gbb, or if it was sbx camp.
They did get the first place wildcard to either gbb19 or gbb21, believe it was 19. But they had to drop because MB14 f'ed around and was on either the voice or xfactor or something and made it deep in the show.

NME was also nervous because he screwed up that same routine at gbb18 which was the last competition he was in prior.
Edit to add: saro was also nervous his first round. When you see him start it in the video, it was actually his second start, since his loopstation crashed at the beginning of the first time.
That "Sweaty Eddy" its Philty from Germany, also good looper. Anyway, GBB is hosted by SwissBeatbox belong to Polish owner, woman btw :D usually GBB is in Poland, not Germany. OFC you have more events similar to that in Florida etc etc

I agree, it seemed like NME feestyled that final round as a bit of a counter against Saro, he was biting his style a bit and copying what he'd done in the first round.
You could give gim credit for being brave enough to freestyle in a loop battle, BUT against Saro its a Big risk...

Rewatching these past loop battle make me miss it so much. This years loopstation battle was weak imo. Some rounds were very artistic but its not battle material. Hopefully next year we can get a better showing.

Everybody always talks about how crazy saro went but this is one of nme's best ever sets. That second round was so bizarre and unique, I love it so much. The part where he's just saying "so yeah, like um" was intentional, but nobody ever seems to get that
I think people get that, I just don't think people get why. Personally, I think nme knew saro was going to beat him, and just did it as both a fuck you and as a way to say, I know I'm done so here's this weird thing you've haven't heard before, here's what it's like to be cucked in song form.
Tom Thum is WAY too hot to even be compared to Tucker.
"his voice is mad shaky" you do realise that was deliberate, right? NME was attempting to make a mockery and a parody of Saro's sound. It would have been a smart play but I don't think he quite conveyed it to the audience or the judges. I also don't think you do that against someone like Saro. You really have to bring something new to the table.
