The Tata Indica is a supermini car launched by the Indian manufacturer Tata Motors in 1998. It was the first passenger hatchback from Tata Motors, with previous models being station wagons and SUVs. Indica is also considered to have been one of India's indigenously developed passenger cars, though not the very first, and Known as "First Indian Indigenous Car".

I was fortunate to see this first Indian car actual assembly with my own eyes... I was a engineer in constrution company which constructed the factory in K block Bhosari in Pune .... Also saw Tata Estate Tata Safari Tata Sierra assembly plant...
Later was shifted to MBIL (Mercedes Benz India limited ) assembly plant construction...
Saw actual assembly of Mercedes E 220 model and Mercedes M wagon type MUV assembly...

BRO.. You missed one variant of indica petrol, it's Indica E-Xeta petrol 2011 , I own one.. And belive me it's best car I m having, still. It's giving competition to 2016 swift.. And space and comfort is way ahead then it's timeline.. It's best car I m having.. Still best looking and having more absorbent suspension much like stiffer suspension of swift and I20.. Love my car

Still I have "TATA" Indica V2 Xeta Petrol, 2007 model..💪😎👍.. Now Working Awesome... good engine, good build quality.. recently changed some engine spare that is "Oil pressure switch" and "2 Relays"... Maintenance cost is less...

Once I was proud to be own a Indica turbo DLG diesel engine. In 2007 but now disappointed because of service after sales and negligible resale value. It was Tata's first passanger car and my first car.
Now I never buy Tata's CAR.

Indica has only one major issue that was suspension as it eat tyres too much.
long wheelbase indica was also undergoing test as I spotted one unit in Pune but it was scrapped as the cost was almost touching that of the Vista. And there was one more car, that was D90 Xtreme concept.

Good car. Got promoted from Indica to Indi-cab and saved us from the black and yellow taxis. I think they stopped. But good one! Used to be criticised for lorry interiors.

I have used 3 cars of Tata but these all 3 are Indica lekin Indica ki ek baat hai jo mughe bohot jyada acchi lagti hai ki iska Engine pani mai band bhi nahi hota hai kyuki aisi situation aayi thi ki hame pani mai se le jani padi thi gaadi lekin Engine band nahi hua I AM LOVING IT 😂😂😸😸
