As a man, I love it when I see the older women giving instruction to the younger women because you don't see that anymore in the church. Often times the pastors admonish the older women not to say or do anything because they don't want to "offend" the younger women. However, Paul says in the New Testament that the older women are to teach the younger women.....

Yeah I know that a lot of guys are into body building and many have great bodies but they need to tone it down in church so it doesn't become a distraction to the ladies
This is FOUNDATION teaching....and the MEN YOUNG AND OLD were taught as well! This is why the church is falling apart...because nobody wants to accept Sound teaching. Mother Kelley has been In this for a LONG TIME...I believe she knows what she was doing...that was an excellent way to handle that situation...she didn't judge her, neither did she REBUKE her...but she just gave a few pointers that Not only helps that young lady but helps All the young women in attendance...
When rededicated my life to the Lord at age 20 in 1990 while stationed in korea in the COGIC ministry on post, I was given similar wisdom from my pastor and elders b/c I tended to dress like the male R&B singers of that day. I believe Mother Kelly was saying to the young ladies that if they present themselves in a respectable manner, they will be able to command respect from brothers. Since I obeyed the instructions of those Godly men, I find that I'm treated with more respect from all sisters.

I would hold the Mothers/Leaders of that young woman's church accountable. Whenever you start a ministry you are giving birth to spiritual son and daughters. So you are held to a higher standard.
Thank you for your feed back..don't misunderstand..the bible says open rebuke is good for the soul. With this said we as saints of God must also be sure that our spirit is right when we are the rebuker. If i want to gain a soul i must seek God for the wisdom to do so. I am a minister and a counselor and i have learned that each situation is unique and you want to be very careful that you don't drive a soul with your righteousness.
Omg exactly!!! In that moment was not the time for open rebuke. That wasn’t even the setting for this type of rebuke! Clearly this woman of God was praising God for what God had done for her. And to have someone make up something negative out of something good is very hurtful. Totally out of line. Then Mother proceeded to talk about how this woman was dressed. She wasn’t even dressed inappropriate. Mother was clearly operating out of her flesh and not the Spirit. To me she was the unintelligent one this night.
Everything should not be said in front of everyone. What she is saying is right on time, but once has to have an idea of where someone is in their spirit. But this message needs to be taught, not so much in the church, but at home. Thank GOD for the mothers though.

They always rebuke the women in order to not tempt the men. Sir control yourself regardless to what any one wears!! I was born and raised in the cogic church, and I'm soo glad I've been delivered...she seems like a stud to me anyway (the preacher)

Good, sound, and Godly rebuke. We don't know where Mother Kelley's "spirit" was, and I'm sure because of how the COGIC has changed so drastically in the past fifteen years there were plenty in that congregation that didn't like it. But open rebuke IS necessary. We don't rebuke, we don't sit down, we don't put out, and we don't silence anymore, and we have a friendlier nicer user-friendly church, but you can't tell me it's holy.

People have lost the fear of God....Whereas in the third world countries where churches are under severe persecution there is a real reverence for God in those underground churches
I was COGIC under the late Bishop J.O. Patterson in Korea while in the US Army. Trust and believe, compared to some rebukes I received, what Mother Kelly did with this sister was KIND! Be blessed. P.S. I'm not suffering from those rebukes.
It is an issue becoming more and more prevalant in our COGIC, folks getting tired of getting to service only to be told off by the MIC holder for a number of offenses that mostly like could have been dealt with person to person. We have people who should be using their gifts and the MIC to save souls only running them out the pews for insults and offenses made under the guise of love and leadership on that pulpit. So Good message we must remember the audience is one with feeling and emotions

I wanted to go to a convocation so the church mother gave me the phone number of an "evangelist" she was riding with that night. I called all day and the woman never called back. I walked about 3 miles to church mother's house. I arrived about 3 minutes before the "evangelist". Who said I could ride next time. Mind you, she drove a 4 seat SUV so there was room for me. She was dressed in a sanctified manner but full of hate and the devil

As a man I admonish the women to cover up their stuff. If you have to ask someone if they think the dress is too short or too tight you already knew the answer yourself. If you can see your own cleavage, so can everyone else.
Unfortunately, not every man in church is saved, therefore with this young lady's background and history, she could be very vulnerable to brothers with impure motives (including some preachers). Yes, this could have been handled privately, but sometimes open correction is better than hidden love.
I agree with Mother! Teach US!! Old teach the YOUNG. I dont understand that we allow employers to teach us how to dress at work, due to the dress standards at work. But we act like we have no common sense when the church has a dress code! The bible tells us to dress modestly and that is WHAT I will DO! I'm from a different denomination, but holy living has NOTHING to do with denomination. There was a time where you could tell the difference between a Christian woman and a worldly one, regardless of what church you were in! Mother Kelly spoke the truth in LOVE, and she was imparting wisdom to this sister so that she can go higher in God. We need more like her in every church! God bless the mothers-in-Zion for standing up for right!
Wayne, you are very young and still have a lot of growing up to do. I hope that in your ministy you learn that this type of thing is not okay. There was a complete lack of compassion on the part of Mother Kelley. She could have just as easily told that sister "let me talk to you after service" and given the same message. Nobody should have to fear humiliation at church. What if she called YOU out based on her opinion of you??? What mother did was NOT RIGHT.

No one's judging and certainly NOT Mother Kelley. You younger women today want to show off "all your stuff" that only a husband is privileged to see. If a woman has to show off her "assets" to get my attention, I won't give her the time of day. You don't go to church to be sexy. I will start by saying that I am COGIC to the core but I have a problem with what happened in this video and the comments to go with it. I have no problem with Mothers "teaching" the young women and men and it is missing more and more in the church period. But my issue is that after this young lady gave that testimony of deliverance and redemption was that moment after her praise the right one to deliver the message.
As a man god has bleessed me to desire a true woman of god. It bothers me to see when young ladys dress the way they do in the club. It makes me feel like I can't even look around the church
I feel you brother. Problem is older women today are being told by the men in leadership to stand down and leave the young women alone. Makes me wonder if these so called pastors are so full of lust that they want to be able to look at the young women every Sunday
Teach, Mother Kelley!! We need the humility that Christ desires us to have in order to accept the wise teachings of the "aged women." What don't kill you, just makes you stronger.
Now THAT is good sound teaching! We (when I say we I mean the Body of Christ) have been so desensitized to correction that we think it is "judgment" or "being harsh." For new believers you learn as you go, but once you know Then you are responsible for what you do with that knowledge!

I agree with Mother! Teach US!! Old teach the YOUNG. I dont understand that we allow employers to teach us how to dress at work, due to the dress standards at work. But we act like we have no common sense when the church has a dress code! The bible tells us to dress modestly and that is WHAT I will DO! Keep on teaching MOTHER, if noone else is listening and agreeing with you, "I AM!"

Sorry, its not about you or brothers with impure motives. In both your replies you seem to be covering for the mother. It is about Christians in leadership that holds a position and the wounds that are inflicted on others.The way it was done does not please God. It was not done in love, but in a boasting manner. I love this woman of God, she is real, and a real woman of God, I dont think there was anything wrong what she said because she said it in an graceful manor nd I truly believe that the woman that she spoke to and other women that heard that advice is going to be blessed in their ministry and their walk with God, I thank God for the older saints because they dont hold back the older saints are trying to train us the younger generation in our ministry and our walk with God
I love the sainted mothers of the church. Women like mother Kelly are truly needed in these last days.
I'm from a different denomination, but holy living has NOTHING to do with denomination. There was a time where you could tell the difference between a Christian woman and a worldly one, regardless of what church you were in! Mother Kelly spoke the truth in LOVE, and she was imparting wisdom to this sister so that she can go higher in God. We need more like her in every church! God bless the mothers-in-Zion for standing up for right!

Wayne, you are very young and still have a lot of growing up to do. I hope that in your ministy you learn that this type of thing is not okay. There was a complete lack of compassion on the part of Mother Kelley. She could have just as easily told that sister "let me talk to you after service" and given the same message. Nobody should have to fear humiliation at church. What if she called YOU out based on her opinion of you??? What mother did was NOT RIGHT.

I don't understand why some people just seem to get angry when a mother corrects someone, mother Kelly can be stern but in this video she corrected her in love and with patience yet people will still get angry and suggest "she should have gave her money to buy some more clothes" People of God how we dress is important and if the bible says dress modestly but i see your chest, bra strap, and thighs you may be saved but you need correcting and that is all she is doing and she is right!

No one's judging and certainly NOT Mother Kelley. You younger women today want to show off "all your stuff" that only a husband is privileged to see. If a woman has to show off her "assets" to get my attention, I won't give her the time of day. You don't go to church to be sexy. Enough brothers in the church are trying to contain themselves without sisters showing their assets whether consciously or unconsciously.

I will start by saying that I am COGIC to the core but I have a problem with what happened in this video and the comments to go with it. I have no problem with Mothers "teaching" the young women and men and it is missing more and more in the church period. But my issue is that after this young lady gave that testimony of deliverance and redemption was that moment after her praise the right one to deliver the message.

Now THAT is good sound teaching! We (when I say we I mean the Body of Christ) have been so desensitized to correction that we think it is "judgment" or "being harsh." Godly correction done in love edifies, aligns, and equips! The old saints may not have had all the "education" but they had the WISDOM and DISCERNMENT that is much needed today!
