In looks there is no comparison. The Alfa GT is one of the most beautiful coupes ever designed. Sure it would lose the race on a track like that. It's FWD with a big lump up front. The biggest sin is Alfa never offered a Q4 GT. It would have moped the floor with the competition, including the RX8. But I would still buy the Alfa over the RX8 or any BMW competitor.
So very true, especially on the looks. I owned the straight 2.0 JTS for 4 years. Even up until the very last days of owning it, I would turn around after parking it and still be charmed by its design and good looks. After having owned one, it was really hard letting it go - one thing you knew for certain was that whatever new car you would get, it just wouldnt be as pretty...
Im lucky to Own both cars, my Rx8 PZ is a striped out track car and my GT 3.2 v6 Q2 is my daily driver. Ive timed myself around snetterton in both cars and found my alfa to be the quicker car in average times. The GT has plenty of upgrades bringing power to 276WHP and includes KW fully adjustable suspension and a 5:1 LSD, the RX8 has 215WHP (261hp) and is far too twitchy to keep up with the neutral Alfa. A stock alfa gets destroyed by a stock RX8 but with the issues removed its a far more capable car with exception that you cannot truly drift the alfa as its FWD. The RX8 is a fun car to drive with its unrestricted redline of 10,300 RPM, it positively screams but it lacks refinement and the stability of the alfa in the corners, even though the alfa is far more powerful the rx8 is only half a second slower on average per lap off the gt showing how good it really is despite being significantly down on power. I only wish the GT was RWD
No comparison when it comes to road cars, it'll be the GT every single time. Sure the RX8 is rwd but the engine is peaky and has some serious reliability issues, there's a reason why there are some absolute dogs on eBay. I've got a 3.0 Busso V6 and have had a 2.5 one, the running costs for such engines are high but they are superb and really one of the all time great power plants. They can be enjoyed at low revs just enjoying the smoothness and the torque but can also be utter screamers at higher up in the rev range.
No comments for 6 years? We have an RX8 be careful they burn fuel and oil at an alamring rate and cost a fortune when they go wrong and they do. The woman is she the one when once reviewing a Vauxhall (Holden) Monaro, referred to us Australians as "all brawn and no brains", if not I apologise.
My Rx8 is amazing - ported to 261 bhp - yes you have look after them - but you wouldn't marry a supermodel & expect a cheap & easy life - my civic coupe super rally puts a smile on my face - the Mazda makes me laugh with joy
Lol I find it kinda weird as well that there are no comments for so long. I plan on getting an RX-8 soon. I am in love with that car and I know what to expect when I get it. Honestly, I believe I will be fine as long as I take very, VERY good care of it. It's different and fun, just like me. What more can I say? =)
As virtually nobody drives on a cars limit on roads then looks as well as a legendary V6 noise under your bonnet will certainly do for most folk. The Alfa is a GT car anyway and not really meant for track racing. It’s meant to take you long distances quickly and comfortably and stylishly.
I had both. The Alfa is a powerful 156 in a party dress. That's not a bad thing (in fact, it's great). But the RX8 was a proper RWD sports car.with a front/mid engine, low centre of gravity, and more neutral front/rear weight distribution. Also MUCH better brakes. I also had a 156 GTA and the RX8 would also give that a run a for the money. VBH threw this contest for the Alfa - not sure why.
Mazda released it too late and should of when emissions wasnt cut to the level as it is now, the engine was with only one or 2 moving parts that produced so much power it did used alot of oil but it's was the price to pay for such mental performance especially after it's tuned etc yeh both nice cars not enough credit given to either one
Be careful Ryan, the catalytic converter went at 80000 kms had to be replaced 1800 euros; the cooling system at 100000 kms 1000 euros; a CD is stuck in the Bose system, the unit will have to be sent to Belgium to be repaired; 500 euros; now i'ts making a scraping noise on corners and a problem at 500 revs it chokes, burns more gas than a Mustang 5 litre V8 and the oil; only use theirs never synthetic Mazda say and it costs a fortune and they burn loads. (made by Total for much less cost)
If it feels gutless, you're driving it wrong. Rev it more! With the rx8, you have the option to have almost no power, for terrible conditions and the option of enough power, for good conditions. In the proper rev range (6,5-9,3k rpm) it delivers instantanious power. Lets say it takes2 revolutions of the engine to respond to the throttle input, then its twice as fast at 9k rpm than at 4,5 . The power of a Turbo comes with the huge price of a turbo lag.that's hard to control on twisty roads. It's far easier to steer a drifting car with the throttle, when it responds as fast as the rx-8 does.
Love mine, just passed 40K miles with zero engine problems, compression numbers are all great. And fyi, the RX-8 is a fantastic car BECAUSE of its tiny little engine, placed low in the car and behind the front axle. Its near mid-engine design is WHY it handles so well and feels so good.
I have an Alfa GT and I adore the car for its very chic and exquisite style, impeccable driving. The only cars I ever could be tempted to considering a chang to are Alfa 4C or an Alpine A110.

Very few cars are as good looking as the Alfa GT

Hard to choose between the two. Definitely love both of them.

How have you ported it to 261 bhp mate??

hi has your rotary engine ever blown up in the last 6 years?
@@newliam5 Think he's still walking back from the place he bought it from
Alfa Romeo THE BEST
Nah
@@DeltaDude. Shut It
I can only see one coupe ; where's the other one ?
Alfa Romeo is winning only because of the styling

Tongue twister, betting there was a few laughs saying "Whizzing Wankel" lol !!
Rx8❤️
*5000 revs I meant to say!
comparing a fwd shitbox with a supercar is pretty funny tbh
Rx8 all day!!
the wankel feels gutless and buzzy..i lusted after an rx7 but a prolonged test drive cured me...

My RX 8 beats new Mustang got 2017 lol
I'm an Alfisti, but from this two i would without a doubt choose the RX8, just look at that handling, the GT understeers so much😔
Alfa romeo gt👍🏼
Alfa Romeo.
Alfa Romeo
Alfa
The RX8 is a fantastic car: RUINED by a horrible engine.
