My favorite Perot moment has to be when Incumbent prez Bush tried to call him out on being inexperienced during a debate and Ross burns him with "you're right. I don't have any experience running up a 4 trillion dollar debt". Epic.

@Shawn Goodson Perot went with a non establishment candidate and ran without support from either party...trump learned from Perot's mistakes, even though he pissed both parties off during his campaign, he recognized the importance of having that support- especially in the Senate. Perot would have been shot down every move he tried to make, no matter how practical it would have been for the American people...which is sad.

In high school, I had to do a report on Mr. Perot for U.S. History. Honestly, I was not excited for it. But watching film and reading up on him, he shaped my views on politics. It's because of him that I understand that our two-party system is not perfect, and the troubles it brings to today's politics are definitely relevant. It's because of him that I understand the tremendous amount of courage it takes for people to run as an Independent. I'm very, very grateful that Mr. Ross Perot did what he did. I hope he is happy up in Heaven to know his legacy lives on with plenty of support and no one felt their vote was wasted on him. Thank you, sir.

Let's not forget that Clinton raised taxes and by 1999 we had the deficit paid off and had acquired a surplus. Bush gave this money back in the form of a stimulus package shortly before 9/11. Then 9/11 happened and the deficit has sky rocketed beyond what it ever was before.
The deficit is not the problem some want us to think it is. We can pay it back if we just have the will (like we did in the 90s). All we have to do is stop dropping bombs on brown people and have a small raise in taxes and we'll pay it off in no time.

They missed the very best of his speech’s when at the 1992 Presidential debates with Pres Bush Sr , Bill Clinton and Perot- Perot on his first question went into detail what NAFTA would do to our labor force and how it would damage the existing- at the time -economy which in hindsight was at the height of solid pay gains for the middle/ lower classes.
Do yourself a major favor and UA-cam that debate-- it was so spot on regarding what would eventually happen that even Hillary Clinton in her primary run for the Democratic primary admitted that NAFTA had hurt the middle class Terribly and it’s rules needed to be changed. -Exactly What Perot pointed out in 1992!!!
Trump realizes how much nafta hurt labor and how much they wanted NAFTA redone-- which is why you saw blue collar workers voting for him in 2016. Trump’s problem is - or maybe it was done purposely- his efforts to change the rules has done nothing to change the problems of labor and everything to help management and shareholders of companies.
Bringing back jobs - very little, seeing big increases in salaries- his/ republicans tax cuts didn’t do it.
What we do have now is an extra Trillion $$ in deficits as the corporations took that money and bought back their stock in order to raise their stock prices which effects bonuses of upper managers especially CEOs and stock holders.
We got a sugar high from the Republicans tax cuts which like a sugar high with kids makes them hyper and usually burns them out in a crash. Which is what economists are seeing in the stock markets.

      Joquita.
I’m from the same region that trump is from - NY, CN, NJ -. He’s been a fixture there in the news since the 1970s. So did those states vote for it’ ‘native son’ ? HellNo cause he’s a shyster and con artist. His casino was a bust, his business declared bankruptcy 6 times, American banks refused to fund his projects cause they couldn’t trust him, he had 4400 legal actions against him, and it’s aledged that his company sold 1300 townhouses to LLC’s of which many can’t trace back to the original owner which is something that developers in the USA don’t do due to it triggers money laundering Fed watchdogs.
Yet. For some crazyass reason we got a whole bunch of republicans who believe every crock he tells you.
Here’s the only thing you need to remember- so listen close and think about what I’m going to say -- The United States is the Financial Capital of the world. No other country is close!!! Trump’s Father and Trump have always had to be able to deal with Banks and big Insurance companies that invest their funds in Real Estate. To be good you have to be 1) marketing savvy 2) a great salesman to have them even consider your project and 3) You Have To Be Trustworthy so that they are sure they’ll get their $$$ back as promised.
Trump has the first 2 things down pat and they have definitely benefited him in his primary and as President. He can talk like a regular guy while he sits on his gold toilet and people Love that- and I don’t blame them cause 99% of politicians are bland.
But what trump doesn’t have is that 3rd factor - the Trust of the very people who control the money that his business relies on. And those are business people who go over your projects and your background and finances with a fine tooth comb .. we have some great banks and some not great banks in the USA especially prior to 2008. So that anyone with a viable plan and is halfway presentable could get $$$ to build projects with. EXCEPT. TRUMP!!!!
So what about that background makes you trust him in the WH. You may not have liked Hillary or Obama or Bill Clinton or Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio etc and that is fair But there were some acceptable candidates in 2016 for the Republicans. But you guys put in a man that depends on a German bank with deep ties to Russian mobsters to fund his business.
Would you trust someone with that background with your finances for your family??? Can you feel good that things that he does aren’t truly to benefit himself and his family???
Who saved him in the 1990’s when he was bankrupt for the last time and his business empire was on the verge of collapse. No American financial institution wanted to help him -- but Russians did- big time!!! Even Eric Trump was quoted in the news in 2015 saying that most of their money comes from the Russians!! And when you have a brokeass billionaire who’s ambitious, and has an oversized ego- even for a billionaire-. Than you have to understand that foreign dark money doesn’t just flow to you cause your a nice guy but that they want something from you and that you can be used. A scientist in those financial predicament might attract the interest of some one at the level of a Russian intelligence major to oversee their grooming to be used. But a billionaire- and a well known one -. That gets the attention of someone higher up in Russia-. Much much higher up!!!!
Yea-- you people screwed up big time on this one. Big time!

I was born in ‘93 so I didn’t experience him in my time. Joey Diaz of all people brought me here 😂. After watching video after video and considering buying his book, he’d have definitely gotten my vote at that time. Joey Diaz when he was talking about him on a podcast said something that was very true. We don’t have presidents with “presence” anymore. Like an aura of strength, prestige, competence, accountability, grit…. I could go on. Obama was the last that had some of that, and I’m saying that as a republican. He had many great qualities as a leader and representative. But nowadays, there are no JFK’s, Reagans, FDR, Teddy Roosevelt, LBJ, etc. There was something so powerful and real about certain presidents that I’ve never seen in my lifetime, and the way politics are going- based on greed and lobbyists, politicians that are slaves to their ambitions, to corporations and personal economic and ego driven goals. Everything besides being the representative and mouthpiece, the shield of the American people and its values. I don’t see that figure running the greatest office in the world anymore. I just see who the party they’re in can control like a puppet and who they opt to choose to do their bidding for them when they get their candidate. Right now it’s just a loop of corruption and financial interests of not the whole, but the few. I’m republican but only because one side has values I believe in more than the other side. I’d be independent but the unfortunate truth is that at this date in time “sitting on the fence” and casting your vote for an independent or libertarian doesn’t accomplish anything because there’s just not enough people that are either aware or because of their age still believe in a black and white two party system. So I vote republican because even if I don’t agree with much of what the basis of it is, I have to choose the lesser of two evils (in my opinion) with the one vote I get. I pray for our country and that we aren’t too far gone and turn into the ruins of the Roman Empire that near the end was plagued by the same issues we’re facing now.

Ross Perot was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and a serving Navy officer. He got rich by founding a company that did practical things in the field of technology. Ted Koppel called him weird on national TV, and his running mate, a former four-star admiral, brain glitched during the VP debate. Perot got no electoral votes. Only one generation in history could have not had it together enough to allow Donald Trump to become president. I never voted for Ross Perot. But I thank him for his service. Ross seen things before the average person and boy was he right . I have nothing but the highest respect for Ross and he would of been a great President . This man was real , honest and had tonnes of compassion .If it wasn't for Ross ,we wouldn't have President Trump. Just think for a second , how he fought the career DC elites and then laughed at him, now we have a similar President . God Bless you Ross , rest in peace and your going to be remembered forever.

He was the man that motivated me to become a naturalized citizen to vote. He spoke the truth about the faults of the Washington establishment but, unfortunately, in the process of castigating the economic failures of the GHW Bush, his weakness to end prematurely Operation Desert Storm and the S&L financial scandal, Mr. Perot split the Conservative vote and got us Bill Clinton.

Tv interview show host Larry King said that his 1992 show NAFTA debate between Ross Perot (contra) and VP candidate Al Gore (pro) was his most memorable ever: Perot forecast that NAFTA would create "a great sucking sound of jobs leaving USA" and he proved right, a Nostradamus. Gore smugly soothed, "if NAFTA proves bad for the US, we can cancel it in six months." Twenty-seven years and countless US jobs and high end, high tech, US tax base manufacturing and military-might industries lost later to NAFTA, CAFTA and like unfairly corporatocratic and ecology decimating trade agreements later, Gore has abjectly avoided, amnesiaed the subject, deserted his promise to cancel NAFTA.

I didn't vote for him but I always admired the guy. He was a bit of a nut, but geniuses often are. He funded his own rescue operation to get an employee out of Iran during the hostage crisis. He was always active in locating MIA's from Nam. He was the first one to explain the numbers concerning entitlement spending with those pie charts (loved those charts). And he showed us what a problem the 2 party system was with all of the crony capitalism. In effect, he was the precursor in many ways to Trump. RIP
