I think i've said this before, but the few years when the wall fell and the ussr dissolved felt as if we had won really. A feeling probably only beaten by liberation after occupation. I was a few months old when the US put man on the moon, a cold war kid, and now finally worldpeace seemed possible.... for a few years at least. Untill recently i assumed that would be the defining moment in my lifetime, but I fear events in recent years could become more impactfull than that era geopolitically speaking.
Answer to your question," when where the friendly years : end of the 80s when gorbatschov took power the ice was already melting, wall fell in 89, ussr dissolved in 1991, ---> putin took power in 1999. He acted friendly at first but it was quite obvious to everyone watching this was just a termporary facade. So i'd say the 90s basically, and maybe before 1917 ( communists take power)
Ps: have you seen "Chernobyl" (2019 HBO) ? brilliant 5 episode series.

I would be very interested in watching you react to something about Russia in the 1990s. You'll learn about what Yeltsin did and how we got to the Russia we know today. If you like Bert Kreischer, then you've already had a taste of it. I recommend watching videos by the channel "Setarko". He is Russian himself and makes excellent videos about specific topics relating to Russian and Soviet history. I think my favourite video of his is about the Trabant. It's also a lot more light-hearted than most of the others.
Also, this is a small thing, but thank you for pronouncing Gorbachov and Khruschov correctly*. The convention of spelling those names with an 'e' has always bothered me. I know it stems from those names being spelled with the letter ë in Cyrillic (Russian alphabet), but the name of the letter is literally "yo", so it doesn't really make sense to write it as "e" in English.
*I know they don't pronounce the consonants completely correctly, but they get close enough without sounding pretentious when speaking English, which is what I see as the golden standard for pronouncing foreign names.

Great reaction! Really want to see you react to those 5 year plan videos. The transformation of the soviet economy and society was impressive to say the least
