Who doesn't love some awesome Batarangs? Well now you can print your own from either the cartoon Batman Beyond or the video game(s) Batman Arkam City (or Knight).
I designed these batarangs in Fusion 360. If you'd like to see more about how I designed them, check out this video: • Speed 3D Modeling Two ...
I printed them in PLA on my Robo 3D R1. It took about 8 hours to print all the pieces and around 100 grams of filament. Then my wife did some amazing post processing on them. Her basic steps were:
Step 1: Sand any rough spots
Step 2: Prime with White Plastic Primer
Step 3: Paint with Matte Black Spray Paint
Step 4: Mask off everything but the blades using tape or playdoh
Step 5: Paint the color (Chrome or Red) on the blades
Step 6: Assemble and enjoy!
I designed the Batman Beyond Batarang to be easy to print. So it prints in one piece, no support material needed.
The Arkham City/Knight Batarang is a little more complex, but not bad. It comes in 4 parts: 2 blades, a top and a bottom coupler in the middle. The blades press fit onto the bottom and the top press fits on top of those. You may need a little glue to keep the top part on. I used super glue. Just make sure to leave the blades glue free as they are designed to rotate so they can open and close.

Very nice! I never thought about using playdough as a masking material. That's a great idea!
+hotbrass2005 My wife is very resourceful. She works at a bakery, so they have to use crazy improvised things all the time.

Hows it going? What Supports would I need to download from the market place?
I just printed this and you made a great design, and soon I will print the Arkham Knight one.
those prints look really high quality, how much did the robo 3d cost?
I love your pfp
I couldn't get my Arkham Knight batarang to open or close. The blades spin around the pins. Any idea of what I can do ? The prints came out beautiful though.
hey Mr. Chaos Core Tech, can you make The Batman 2004-2008 Batarang in 3d print. I kind of like that Batman's Batarang very much.
That is awesome! Keep showing how to paint it :D
+SQORED I definitely will. :)
Hi, what's the name of your 3D printer please?
The printer I used in this video is the Robo3D R1 Printer. :)
Thanks.
Moves way too freely and is a little wobbly within the bottom and top pieces
Can u make me a beyblade 3d 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Good Work!
Would be awesome if the Arkham City/Knight could be unfolded using some kind of spring-loaded mechanism, pressing the top button. Amazing project, man! Cheers, from Brazil
coooooool
Coolarrrrrrrrrkkkkkkkk!!!!!
can u make the boomerangs from captain boomerang suicisde squad movie
That's a good idea. I'll add it to my list. :)
Hi Ron, what do you mean by units? I modeled them in millimeters.
great job on the batarangs they came out great i have a robo myself but i use matter control in i see u switched to cura could u tell me how to set up cura if u don't mind please a here it is a lot better
+jeffreyjames1987 Thank you! And if you're looking to set up Cura, check out this forum post here: community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/how-to-cura-15-04-setup.4169/ That will get you set up and ready to go.
And as for why, I only switched from MatterControl a couple weeks ago and I'm just testing Cura out. Because like you, I had heard everywhere that MatterControl isn't good and Cura is way better. But honestly, I don't see it. I guess MatterControl used to be worse, but they have been updating it and the most recent update they did fixed their support material issues. So now I'd argue that MatterControl is at least as good if not better than Cura, because at least in MC, you can save settings in profiles. But either way they're pretty much the same. I'll probably be moving back to MC eventually. I just wanted to give Cura a try. :)
Ok thanks for the help and the info keep up the great prints can't wait to see wall-e have a good one
+jeffreyjames1987 No problem, glad I can help. :) I'll try my best. And you have a good one too. Thanks for the nice comments. :)
They are awesome but I think the Batman beyond one isn’t symmetrical
Would they break if you threw them😀
Question is the Arkham one sturdy enough to stay folded or unfolded
Excellent , but you should be sanding them lol
I made your beyond barataran on steel. Thanks
Very nice demo, thank you!
wooow😱😱
saludos desde México amigo.👍
I see a little wallie, is that the one you designed (did i miss an update lol )
+TheAppStop No, actually that's a Pop! figure that my wife got for me. Maybe I should move it so I don't cause any confusion with it sitting with all my other prints lol.
you deserve more subs :)
