The center of Serralunga, a typical medieval village, is almost intact.
From the walls of the castle you can observe the urban structure: the streets and houses are placed in a concentric way to facilitate the access of the population to the castle in case of war.
The castle was re-established by Luigi Einaudi and today it is one of the few castles that can be visited by the Langhe.
The tall towers refer to the need, as well as defensive and sighting, to communicate with visual reports with the other connected towers.
Serralunga is one of the cornerstones in barolo's production.
The origin of the village is made to coincide with the construction of the castle:the domain of Boniface del Vasto, "Sera Longa" (for its characteristic form of narrow and long land tongue on the hills), was later owned by the Del Carretto and the Marquises of Saluzzo.
He then became a fief of the Marquis Falletti of Barolo, who had the castle eried there and, with a comital title, of the Baldi of Bra.
The castle was conquered in 1616 and was later conquered by the Spanish.
Currently owned by the Italian State, in 1950 it was restored by the intervention of the President of the Republic Luigi Einaudi.
