  • It's not often that we get new design in the world of laser cutters and engravers but Rendyr has. Let's dive into this machine and see if it could be a good fit for you.
    Rendyr Optic - geni.us/rendyr
    *Note: This is a paid product overview and not a review. But if I thought the laser was crap I wouldn't have made the video ;)

      The fact that they can just toss out $1000 off codes illustrates how overpriced this unit is normally. It looks like a really nice design, but in no way is this a $3000 laser machine.

      Thanks for your feedback. We’d like to clarify that the $1000 discount code is limited to the first 24 orders only, as mentioned by Brandon at the end of the video. This discount is a special offer for the Make or Break Shop community to celebrate the start of our launch.

      Laser pecker LX1, and LX1 Max already in the market, and seem very similar?

      @@mikiauto73 Hey! Glad to see that you're looking at various machines. We haven’t had the opportunity to test them ourselves but here’s what we see looking at the LaserPecker LX1 series. First, they are unenclosed and without filtration, resulting in safety hazards (which they don't properly describe). They also don't include a cutting mat. The add-on cutting plate, enclosure, and air purifier (only available for pre-order as of 6/3/24) take up lots of space, mostly defeating the foldable nature of the LX1 series, and almost double the total cost of the setup. The cantilevered fold-out arm has no support at the end which reduces accuracy and speed. When comparing them by looking at the whole picture, we see the Optic as a much better and complete integrated product for a very fair price.

    I'm so confused why all the haters in the comments are trying to compare this to a co2 laser. Most diode laser companies will advertise the input wattage for marketing, and typically, they have a power output of around 10w. Rendyr is advertising their actual OUTPUT power of 12w. I think this is a very well thought out machine, not to mention manufactured and supported right here in the USA.🇺🇸

    • @StoneyMeyerhoeffer
      @StoneyMeyerhoeffer Місяць тому

      I wouldn't compare it to a Co2, but there are a laundry list of diode lasers out there in the 20w and 40w ranges. As you say, this may be input only and/or marketing, but XTool at least states their 40w module laser is true output. If you can point me at something that shows that the true output is lower, that is interesting. But 12w still seems low and a miss ultimately. But those other modules are physically larger and probably wouldn't fit the overall aim, which is quick setup and easy cutting. This is an intriguing machine becasue it would fit in my big suitcase and probably travel well. I'll keep it on my radar for when it gets to 20w.

    If there was a way that this could also be adapted to engrave on larger curved / irregular pieces like tote bottles, golf clubs, etc, that would make it the only machine needed.

    Very interesting and innovative design that I think would be great for a lot of products. But a couple of questions:
    Now does cutting work on that flat matt without a honeycomb bed does it leave marks?
    It would be interesting to see how the risers work and is it compatible with a rotary?
    Do they have plans for other heads like maybe a IR module?

  • @markferrick10
    @markferrick10 Місяць тому +2

    Interesting concept. Would be great for customizations at a craft show. Curious at to speed as is it limited at all my the cantilever design, flashback if cutting, accuracy of the X axis i.e. if the movement in the Y axis twists the x gantry at all.

    • @makeorbreakshop
      @makeorbreakshop  Місяць тому

      I’ve used some cantilever designs before and this felt really solid. The metal mat locks into place at the bottom and helps make everything more rigid

    • @rendyrinc
      @rendyrinc Місяць тому +2

      Thanks @markferrick10! The Optic’s gantry is actually not entirely cantilevered but supported by a wheel (see 3:59 in the video) which together with the solid hinge connection ensures it’s always level, robust, and produces consistent results.

  • @lightworkz61
    @lightworkz61 Місяць тому +3

    Hmmmm that sure is different and very expensive, ok about the cutting board, I see two open lines (the fold lines) so when cutting, if the material is over one or both of the fold lines, I guess it would cut into the felt backing? I can't really tell from the video if it has some kind of protection or not, but as it has to fold at that point, I will guess not.
    Thanks, and please keep making more video's.

      Hi there, We designed the Optic’s cutting mat to resist normal laser cutting operations in a similar way to conventional honeycomb beds. The top surface is all metal, including the folding hinges made from flexible and durable spring steel. While laser cutting will result in scoring marks, they do not impact the cutting mat’s functionality. The alignment grid is machined deeper to maintain its visibility. In addition, it's easy and quick to wipe off any residue from cutting materials.

      @@rendyrinc Hi, many thanks for your reply and letting me know how you constructed the cutting mat, I was sure that you would have covered every aspect of the design, but still I just had to ask ;) hey nice bit of kit, but a bit out of my range for a diode laser ;( keep up the great work.

    I see 2-3 slight “problems”:
    1.) It is slightly more difficult to figure out/see exactly where it will engrave, especially when not using the matt.
    2.) The hight of materials, as well as potential waviness, seem very restricted! Many other cheaper diode lasers have auto leveling via stepper motor and height detection DURING engraving, and don’t rely on a roller in a specific location.
    3.) The overall concept saves storage and transportation space, but is very limiting otherwise. Including (inexpensive) expansion kits, higher power laser modules etc.
    Interesting product (for specific applications)!
    Best wishes

      Hey! Thanks for your questions. Great feedback on the question for a metric grid version. You’re the first to ask and we don’t have this option yet, but we’ve passed this on to our product team.
      Regarding your question about pricing, the Optic Portable Laser Cutter offers a range of advanced features and unparalleled portability with built-in filtration (costs extra with every other laser cutter), setting it apart from other machines in the market. Our goal is to provide a high-quality, versatile tool that meets the highest safety standards, backed by US-based expert customer support. We’ve already seen the Optic create tremendous value by enabling creativity and productivity for our customers. On top of that, we’re offering $1000 off for a very limited quantity for the Make or Break Shop community to celebrate the start of our launch - That’s only $1995 while they last, which makes the Optic an even more phenomenal deal in our opinion.
      If you have any further questions or need more information, we’re happy to help!

    Laser cutting requires space for safety, exhaust, stocking material, assembly, sanding, laptop rerunning jobs...
    I cut 95% of the time so this is not for me. While cool, it is not solving my problems.
    Better exhaust, quieter operation, faster job, camera (to avoid the very problem that occured in the demo of overlapping jobs), less soot on the cut, dealing with non perfectly flat materials, auto focus are features I am in the market for.

    • @rendyrinc
      @rendyrinc Місяць тому +1

      We appreciate your concern and can assure you that this has never been an issue with any of the hundreds of Optics in use. Dirt and other residue is not likely to accumulate where the wheel runs on the cutting mat, and additionally the bearings are sealed to prevent any degradation from dust or particles. Hopefully this helps address your concern!
