I was once part of a choir that sang this with Benjamin Luxon. Great fun, stupendous music. The third and fifth songs are almost mystical on their rendition. Great
Could well be my "go to" performance of a magnificent sea composition. Luxon, the chorus and the orchestra seem to live and breathe this stunning music. "The Song Of The Sou'wester" almost sweeps the listener overboard while the contemplative stillness of "The Middle Watch" (8:16 - 14:52) is spellbinding........

Marvelous music
The Middle Watch and Farewell are outstanding on this recording. Thanks for posting this.
I love Stanford. He has composed so many beautiful works. Thank you. Your channel adds much richness.

Just met a new composer today! Thanks.

Max Merry -- Amateurs like me are reminded of Vaughan-Williams and even Britten, but at the end of the day, Stanford is very much His Own Man!
Very nice - thank you!
