Transactions this large takes a lot of time to clear. They have to go through their accounting Dept and other red tape for the whole process and the check they are sending will probably come FedEx or UPS and require a signature for proof of delivery.
@James Sempy I agree but since Tesla isn't a major financial institution, personally I wouldn't trust giving out my bank account information to them. It's not their bread and butter for operations. They have to pay for the wire as well. It's cheaper even though not as safe for the receiver to accept a parcel with a check/money order
@@CED99 this is just a refund. If you withdraw over 10k USD in cash you have to sign a form from your bank. If it's over 10k USD and it's a check or money order or other means then it's ok. The point is the IRS needs to be able to know where the funds are going and coming from to combat illegal activity

So you pay whatever money the first one costs. lets call it $250k. Then you get a free one and you go thru the hassle the find someone who doesn't want to lowball you on the price and maybe sell it for 230k maybe even less. So you just lost 10-20-30-40k on a car. Do you think flippinf one would be a great idea? Or just cancel it and get a free and no money involved. Besides that he will probably still need to pay 30-50k on the free one because of the tax. So he should keep that 50k deposit for the tax
When he ordered it he doesn't have enough money to even buy the base model he just gamble it thinking he may get that sum of money in future so he choose the minimum amount so it become more feasible for him to buy else if he has that kind of money he would have taken the top tier one but there would be not many benefit as that would also be as fast as base model but will have some cool things like bigger screen etc thats all
It sucks... my question is, when did you get the referral code, is it after placing your reservation? If yes, maybe the code is link to your reservation accnt once they deactivate it because you have cancelled it, you no longer have an accnt with them meaning no referrals. It took me 55 minutes to get a walk in conformation service approved for my Model 3 the day after I got it. I thought I had a rim leak, but I was unlucky enough to roll over a screw on the first day of ownership. It was very cold that day, so I did try to see where the leak was coming from, but didn't spot the screw that went into the sidewall. At first I thought it was bad luck, but a book I was reading at the time kinnda hinted towards unfortunate events on the road to personal and financial change. Since then, my Model 3 has been amazing and I don't regret it one bit. Congrats on the founders edition, by the way. I am amazed by the generosity of Tesla for referrals, but it is becoming more obvious how much more successful marketing works on a peer to peer basis vs the conventional methods so many other companies have been relying on for decades.
You also have to factor in the money that you lose with 45k@0% for an undisclosed amount of time since the car is far from being there. You are lending money for free to Tesla in order to simply buy something at some point in the future. If Tesla goes down in the meantime you will never see your 45k because you are way low on the creditor list.
