I will admit when this was released this was not my favorite but after listening to Ren's explanation of the song on the Zac Sang Show interview as everything needs to have a death to have a rebirth ,,, I went back and listen to this song 3 times with Ren's eyes and ears yes Ren was in a dark place .. But Ren is always reinventing himself with his music and fighting his illness I have respect for this song now ,,, I will admit it is now on my daily Ren playlist the music and beat and his wordplay is done so well ...and the Bass is 🔥🔥
He was so angry when he wrote this but it didn't have any sexual tones or at least I've never heard him reference it. He just wanted to cut every attachment, even the ones that helped him so he could reboot (samsara).
I think it’s interesting that he named it Masochist when every other word is kill. I think there is a clue there. Also, look up the meaning of masochist. Masochists aren’t usually violent to anyone but themselves.
I remember, in the run up to the release of the Sick Boi album, Ren was dropping one video a week, it was really quite exciting at the time. The first reactions would drop within minutes. I always felt a bit of trepidation that he might drop something that was slightly less brilliant than the last one, but he never did.
Some people were shocked by & didn't like this one. Some people thought he went too far in Kujo Beatdown. I would ask them why it's OK for him to bare his soul in pain, again & again, for the world to see but not to express anger or rage?
Yes! I think back to the million subscriber video when he said - Are you filled with hate for your fellow man? Sit with it, feel it, express it, then forgive yourself and move on. He has been demonstrating that for his followers just as he does the easier to digest messages.
That's a really good point actually, I've never thought about that. It sometimes feels like his songs are coming from two completely different people. I'd never be shocked, offended or upset by anything Ren did because we know how genuine he is and the place that it's coming from
You are one of the few who gets the choking the pope line... and others say there is no rude words in this one... he seems to throw something into most songs.
Love your expressions while you’re experiencing Ren. This is the song that I play after a long day at work sometimes on repeat for the whole drive home 😂
best song to go with a morning coffee... wakes you up 😁 the song's on the Sick Boi album released in 2023 but he wrote the lyrics way back when he was utterly pissed about everything in (his) life, hated it all and wanted to kill it all off so it stops. he basically let off steam and out of his system, let it sit and mature for a whaile, added the beat, and here we are.
You're just the most Renegade reactor ever. There are other reactors who have become actual fans of Ren and buy his music and merch and follow his socials. But the way you dove right into exploring and understanding Ren the person, and how quickly you catch his lyrics and the web of references to his songs within his songs is super satisfying. (And this doesn't mean anyone expects you to only react to Ren! He has a large catalog, but it isn't infinite.)
“F**k the police …” At that point, did you notice the picture of Ren holding a guitar like a gun? It’s a callback to the end of “Screech’s Tale”, when Screech gets shot.
This is my favorite Ren song. It's basically him giving himself 'permission' to metaphorically kill all the connections in his life that don't serve him anymore, recognizing it as a painful but necessary process to move forward. It took me several listens to properly appreciate it.
I always see this as a sort of Ren version of Break Stuff by Limp Bizkit. Like we all have those days where we just want everyone to leave us alone or say fuck everything because life sucks. For Ren it was just years, not the occasional day. He went through hell and has had a lot of emotions to vent through music. Also as humans we have a tendency to close ourselves off when feeling down. We might even permanently sever some ties or as Ren puts it “Kill these metaphors I write to all attachments in this life”. Ultimately he is hurting himself, more or less out of choice, hence masochist. Choosing self-destruction can be empowering, even if harmful, because you are in control when making that decision. Sometimes we do stupid things when too much is happening that’s out of our control. Even if it just makes matters worse. Also notice the line “breaking your bones to make my furniture” and then think back to Murderer with the line “I'll sit on my throne made of bodies and bones because im mentally ill”. Ren is a clever boi painting a tapestry with multiple songs. Especially within the Sick Boi album. Looking forward to seeing how interconnected the tracks will be on Slaughter House.
I think the song you were looking for was Murderer . "I'll sit on my throne made of bodies and bones because I'm mentally ill" It's ok to feel a bit weird on this one. I read somewhere it served as therapy for him which was probably cathartic, like he wrote this from the headspace he was in (obviously not a great one). Someone correct me if I've got that wrong?
This is about Samsara - death and rebirth - rinse repeat. Ren was very angry when he wrote this but sticks by the sentiments. Murderer has "I'll sit on my throne made of bodies and bones because I'm mentally ill".
Insane start to my day!🤪😀 I'll be jamming in this my car & wonder wtf is wrong with me (& Ren lol) when I'm gleefully singing such lyrics with a smile! It's such a great beat tho, I'll evaluate my feelings later!😉🫶 Thanks as always!!🔥❤️🔥
Don’t worry Parks 😊 Re-Birth is a “Hoppy” place 🤭 I love this track now but it threw me initially as it did for many. In true Ren style it makes you look & think deeper. A brilliant lyrical metaphorical clean slate. We can all relate. Just love your facial expressions 😂❤
Sometimes you just have to let it wash over you and go to the next one🤪 you could drive yourself doolally trying to understand the meaning of his words, the breadth of his knowledge is staggering at times but you never miss his references and ,to me, that's just as impressive. I'm gonna keep saying precious until you play it😂💙🇬🇧
Thank you ❤ my interpretation was that he was talking to God. It's around the time he made 'Dear God", and "Insomnia" - 2 other great ones BTW. Again, thank you!
Long comment. Main message in this one are these lyrics.. kill your karma, kill samsara, Reincarnate reach Nirvana. In Buddhism Samsara is the cycle of death and rebirth in which your karma decides how you reincarnate. He's saying kill off the old self and find the new. Some references KRS1 (woop wppp sound of police) F the police, you got that one, N.W.A. "I Came to Bring the Pain" Method Man, and you got the Eminem one. Also Supersonic is song title to rapper JJ Fad . Breaking Bones to make furniture is a ref from Murderer track (sit on throne full of bodies and bones.) Now, the Zipping up a body bag is in a few Ren's songs. If you remember in chapter 1 when Ren tells us about Joe, they get a call that they found a body at the bridge, turns out not Joe Ren sees them zip up a body bag. That moment must have traumatized him as a version of those lyrics are in many songs. Words pacifist, catalyst and masochist are in Illest of our Time. Those are some of the references you picked up on. 😊
With Ren, if a track isn't a contender for my top 5 (and this isn't) I have learned to assume that is because I don't understand it yet. Is there more to the lyrics I haven't discovered, or is this about flow and cadence. He is such a deliberate artist and I think he puts in layers that are meant to be challenging. There are several tracks I finally got in a flash of insight which now I love.
Yes it's on the Sick Boi album. Ren said of this track in Rolling Stone magazine : "On face value this is probably the darkest track on the album, it seems quite disruptive but for me it’s got a positive message about destroying everything that no longer serves you and starting again. A song about rebirth. It’s called masochist because sometimes destroying those support systems hurts yourself."
From an interview: When he wrote this his life was 100% out of his control. Ren would rather hurt himself than wait for the world to hurt him. He needed control. So he'll kill everyone he loves, poison himself with drugs, hurt himself so much that he wont even notice the illness that is so painfully stealing his life away.
I think you're mixing the definition with "sadist" here. "I sit on a throne made of bodies and bones." Can't wait for some demos and FA, that's when Ren's diversity shines. 💛🤘🤙✌️
Prynhawn Da Brawd. Good afternoon for those who don't know! I've been dipping into the skinner brothers lately because Ren said on the slaughter house twitch stream he was doing some songs with soul boy from the band. You should check out what the have to offer. I can see Ren and soul boy collaborations are going to be insane.
"I'll be the court (not cold) case, you be O.J." O.J. beat the court case and masochists like to be beaten. Possibly my favorite line of the song. (On the day Ren released this song I wrote a comment on his page saying, "Ok, I just spent the day killing everybody. I hope this song wasn't a metaphor.", AND REN REPLIED, "No, all my other songs are metaphors, this one is a literal guide book for life. Good job!" You've got to love the man's sense of humor.)
During the song, we are role-playing as the court - the one that exonerated OJ for a murder he clearly committed- as we go about with the killing of all worldly attachments. That bit is permission
This isn't about wanting to literally kill people. Ren said in an interview that it's a song about the wheel of samsara - of death and re-birth (Hinduism). It's actually spiritual, bro.
Yeah this seems like a pure case of lashing out to anything and everything, including himself, wishing it all to be destroyed, to end, so he can start again. The anger and desperation is palpable. In my opinion not the most pleasing song to the ear, maybe that's on purpose? I don't know, but I do appreciate the lyrics, the insight in this frame of mind at the time and the sense of catharsis.
Morning Parks. Hope you are doing ok after the end of stream yesterday. I'm still a bit of a mess. Much love ❤ Edit: i didn't know how to feel about it either the first time I heard it lol
You have it backwards. A masochist is someone who likes to inflict pain on others. A sadist is someone who likes to receive pain. These things can be true outside of a sexual context as well but thanks for the insight to how your mind works. LOL
This is probably my least favorite Ren song, just because of all the Kill Kill Kill. I know he was in a dark place when he wrote it but not sure I enjoy it. Lol. I do like the music, just not the lyrics.
The deeper message Ren gave was that it was time for Samara (a reboot) in the Buddhist mindset. Basically, kill anything metaphorically that you have attachment to and start all over fresh! He talks about the negative feedback on this song and it's not negative at all. Sometimes everyone needs to hard restart themselves and clear the cashe of life's clutter. Free up some space and reevaluate which things to prioritize. 🫶 Good morning 🌞
I was waiting looking for this comment! When I first heard the song, I couldn’t understand what was going on, then he dropped the samsara line… oh ok, I get it now, flash backs to reading Herman Hesse’s Siddharta. It just blew me away. Took a few more listens to love the song though 😊
"Kill these metaphors I write to all attachments in this life". Most important line in the song.
Reboot, Re-invent!!! Like slaughterhouse?
I think it’s interesting that he named it Masochist when every other word is kill. I think there is a clue there. Also, look up the meaning of masochist. Masochists aren’t usually violent to anyone but themselves.

He literally says what he's doing - "kill these metaphors I write for all attachments in this life"
Love your expressions while you’re experiencing Ren.

😂 kill kill kill kill

Deeper message? Basically, Ren is telling us to give up all attachments in life and either life free and/or start over.
“F**k the police …” At that point, did you notice the picture of Ren holding a guitar like a gun? It’s a callback to the end of “Screech’s Tale”, when Screech gets shot.
“Choking the Pope” is slang for masturbating 😂
“Choking the Pope” has the same meaning as “Spank the monkey”. 😊
❤❤❤
Masochist is not always sexual.
(in general use) a person who enjoys an activity that appears to be painful or tedious.
I was about to say it here but you did it yourself at the end: "Ren is our Morpheus pill" ✌
This is my favorite Ren song. It's basically him giving himself 'permission' to metaphorically kill all the connections in his life that don't serve him anymore, recognizing it as a painful but necessary process to move forward.

Yeah I agree this is probably my least favorite song lol but I love ren but I guess you can't love everything
Loving all your reactions 👍🏻 pleeease do sweet little lady - big push Acoustic version 💖❤️💖❤️💖❤️💖❤️💖 it just doesn’t get the attention it deserves x
I like the acoustic version to that song aswell ❤
Wow I admire your stamina with these Ren reactions , keep it up 🇬🇧
only another 150 to go
Ty!
This is about Samsara - death and rebirth - rinse repeat. Ren was very angry when he wrote this but sticks by the sentiments. Murderer has "I'll sit on my throne made of bodies and bones because I'm mentally ill".
Can’t wait for your reaction to Hope by NF!!!
lol you look exhausted after that, great reaction, love this song, thank you Sir 🙏🦉❤️🐊👍
Insane start to my day!🤪😀
I'll be jamming in this my car
& wonder wtf is wrong with me (& Ren lol) when I'm gleefully singing such lyrics with a smile!

Tick tick boom.... The Hives ?
Or Boom! Shake The Room by DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince? He stayed with a set designer for The Fresh Prince of Bel Air in LA.
Referenced at least six hip-hop artists just before high. My name is peace out.
About time for wicked ways
Thank you ❤ my interpretation was that he was talking to God. It's around the time he made 'Dear God", and "Insomnia" - 2 other great ones BTW. Again, thank you!

Well, with LM part 4 and this out the way, you’ve put some of his most weird/unhinged material behind you. Normal service should resume from here on.
😅
The 'bones' recognition... could it be... Murderer, has him in a body and bones bed. :)
Yep murderer sit on my throne made of bodies and bones
❤ Love watching your reactions
I love this tune
Woop woop! 🚨🖤

I love when ren adds syllables to words to make them work 😂 "matt-ah-ress"
I feel like he was getting sick of it all and went rage on everything.❤️ lyrically.
Good morning Parks!
😂 "just heard one song and was elated and now I'm scared" 😂
I must admit that this song is not one I listen to often but it’s fun sometimes watching a reactors face when they do it. Much like yours Parker 😂
🎉🎉🎉
Killing off all attachments plus references to many of his other songs, about letting go…it’s not literal!
Good morning let's get started
Prynhawn Da Brawd. Good afternoon for those who don't know!

❤ Thank you ❤
Early Eminem would have done a song like this! Ren is a little nuts sometimes, and I love it!!
Em has a couple songs that were leaked. You have to check out "Smack You" it's a 🔥🔥 diss track from 2005 I think. You'll flip!!
I'd wait until Em gives the green light, since these were leaked, before reacting.
This isn't about wanting to literally kill people. Ren said in an interview that it's a song about the wheel of samsara - of death and re-birth (Hinduism). It's actually spiritual, bro.
NEXT UP PLEASE: Wicked Ways. If possible, please comment on the musical content - not just lyrics.
Errata: not NWA…KRS1
oo thank you!
❤

Maybe heretic next?
Morning Parks. Hope you are doing ok after the end of stream yesterday. I'm still a bit of a mess. Much love ❤
Edit: i didn't know how to feel about it either the first time I heard it lol
Screech killed his pacifist sister and refers to it as you said in that other song I cant remeber the name of it. :)
Illest of our time 😊
Just a little BuddhistCore for ya brain!
😂
You have it backwards. A masochist is someone who likes to inflict pain on others. A sadist is someone who likes to receive pain. These things can be true outside of a sexual context as well but thanks for the insight to how your mind works. LOL

@@parkskur You're right I did flip them My bad. The joke doesn't land as well this way however. Lol
